1981 Pablo Picasso Poster, Night fishing at the Antibes, MoMa Period Surrealism, Spanish painter, wall art decor This is a 1979 poster of one of Picasso's MoMa period for an exhibition in Antibes at the Musee Picasso, Chateau Grimaldi celebrating the centenary of Picasso's birth. "Night fishing at the Antibes" or "La peche de nuit a Antibes" shows several fishermen fishing at night while women watch on from the shore. Dimensions: 25 in x 16 in (64 cm x 41 cm) Pablo Ruiz Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and theatre designer who spent most of his adult life in France. Regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, he is known for co-founding the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpture, the co-invention of collage, and for the wide variety of styles that he helped develop and explore. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907), and Guernica (1937), a dramatic portrayal of the bombing of Guernica by German and Italian air forces during the Spanish Civil War. What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced. Because of the age of these posters and their history, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up and with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases and tears press up well against glass, and any rough edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
