But the Dracula for which Edward Gorey created the set designs, reproduced in miniature here (a version that ran to nearly a thousand Broadway performances) compresses the action to one locale: the sanatorium of Dr. Seward. Based on Edward Gorey's set + costume designs for his award-winning Broadway production of Dracula, these die-cut, scored + perforated foldups + foldouts include 3 pop up 16 x 12 inch stage sets, cast of 8 (15 figures in all), stage furniture + a 4 page booklet with simple assembly instructions. There is also a synopsis of Gorey's Broadway adaptation of Dracula + notes on Edward Gorey (1925-2000) + his many magical creations. Misses Small to 3XL. Fashion evolved rapidly from 1915 to 1920, as World War I, known as the Great War, changed forever the role of women in society. This blouse dates from 1918, at the end of World War I. Fashion was in transition from frills to practicality, and this blouse blends the two beautifully. A continuing love of feminine details and an increasing need for practicality in dress came together in the graceful lines of our Armistice Blouse, and was enhanced by a soft delicate fabric and lace trim. The back of the blouse extends over the shoulders to meet the lightly gathered front, and gathers at the center back waist into a self-fabric tie or ribbon, which encircles the waist to tie in front. The long collar falls softly over a center panel, or vestee, forming a deep rectangular neckline. Tiny buttons close the blouse on the left side. Long set-in sleeves gather into wide turned- back cuffs. Folkwear maintains the traditional curved hemline that is slightly shorter in back. View A is made of plain fabric; a soft cotton print would be lovely. View B is trimmed with lace at the edges of the collar, cuffs, and vestee, which is may also be decorated with narrow tucks. Handwork notes inside the pattern cover include optional drawn-thread work and designs and instructions. You may make it as simple or elaborate as you like. This pattern is available as a Paper pattern and PDF pattern. Choose the pattern format you want in the drop down menu. The PDF pattern has instructions, drawn thread work techniques and files for copy shop (36” and A0), print at home (A4 and 8.5”x11”). Suggested fabrics: Lightweight fabrics such as gauze, batiste, voile, georgette, or other light cottons; silk, rayon, or blends. I feel a little dehydrated today after the marathon I did yesterday. And by marathon I mean the emotional undertaking that was SEEING LES MIS. Turns out Anna was not kidding around. I heeded her demand, and I saw the light. The movie was a masterpiece. But wow, was I ever cried out afterwards. There were a few points during the two-hours-and-then-some at which the theater sounded like a sniffle symphony. I saw it with four people, and we all choked up at different parts. The weeping comes from two places, right? You're crying because heart-wrenching things happen, but you're also crying because you're seeing and hearing things you love with all your heart. Let's see how you score as a Les Mis crier. Some of the film's most poignant moments are below. For each moment, add the listed points if you cried—skip if you didn't. Opening Credits No judgment here. This was a monumental day for most of us. +3 Valjean's Soliloquy My mom started crying more or less as soon as Hugh Jackman started singing. "He told me that I had a soul. How does he know?" +3 I Dreamed a Dream. Here we make way for most

Each student is handed a slip of paper for a particular Christmas character with a given circumstance which they must write into a monologue. If time allows, the students perform their monologues. Students don't even realize they are studying play-writing. This can be adapted for other holidays, too. It's such fun! A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE BROADWAY MUSICAL LESSON One of the most beloved holiday films of the season is now a Broadway musical! A Christmas Story the Musical is an engaging, heartwarming, funny musical and this lesson demonstrates that. This two or three-day lesson can stand alone or be combined with one of my Famous Artist biographies or other Page to Stage musical lessons. COSTUME DESIGN WITH NUTCRACKER BALLET CHARACTERS This two-day lesson on costume design is focused on the Nutcracker Ballet characters and gives the students an opportunity to be costume designers. The students learn about costume design, view a video clip of The Nutcracker Ballet and design costumes for themselves as if they were in ballet. Suitable for students in grades 3 to 7, the product is broken in to two class periods, although it could be used for a one day exploration of the subject. COSTUME DESIGN WITH WRAPPING PAPER Materials needed: Holiday wrapping paper (or tissue paper)--several boxes, masking tape and one roll of paper towels per every four students. Gifted students in grade 6 may enjoy this, too! CHRISTMAS CREATIVE WRITING THE MONOLOGUE This lesson focuses on a play-writing exercise--the monologue and beginning acting. Students select a object indicative of Christmas or the holiday season which the teacher provides from this lesson and write a monologue speaking as the object. Then, they design the object and perform their monologue. Reluctant students don't even realize they are studying play-writing and acting. It's such fun! GREAT at home/distance activity (or in a lab at school) where students watch clips from modern musicals (Classics, 1970s-2000, and Modern) and analyze them. Students will analyze performances for set design, costumes, lighting, acting choices, choreography, and more. Some musicals have multiple clips for students to compare, learn about behind the stage elements, and the over-arching story line. Each section includes a synopsis of the musical so students understand the broader story being told. Engaging drama lessons that will have students singing along with favorite and new music. Combination of original casts and modern adaptations. Students will build an understanding of where musical theatre has come from. Each lesson includes a Microsoft Word document where students can click on the links as they go, it is also editable by you to include or cut any other clips you would like. This ALSO includes a link with the lessons built in Microsoft Forms AND Google Forms (I've attached the link in the Word doc that allows you to duplicate them to your account). The videos are embedded directly in the form making it simple for students to watch the clip and answer the questions in one seamless activity. This makes it easily usable inside the classroom or students can access the lesson from home. Looking for more units like this? Check out our Broadway Musical Theater Composers Bundle!
