"As You Grow I Want You To Know...You are You are You. Be wild. Be weird. The world needs Your Everything that's brand new." (Wisdom Nugget #1) This book keeps being compared to Oh The Places You’ll Go by Dr. Suess as a perfect graduation gift. Don’t hesitate to buy for a fresh take on old wisdom for grads of all ages. As You Grow I Want You To Know (Wisdom Nuggets, Vol 1: Self) explores the universal knowings of dignity, connection, and wholeness meant to help children amplify their sacred, internal glow. Focusing on social / emotional development, its vivid pages are playful in spirit and can be enjoyed at different levels of understanding. This book contains a new, rhyming “wisdom nugget” on each of 15 spreads that supports the reader’s self-confidence, mindfulness, and feelings of positivity. These messages are captured with colorful, happy landscapes and dreamlike, slightly-undefined animals which encourage the reader to stay creative and flexible. The last page invites readers and grown-ups to create their very own wisdom nuggets in the space provided among the named characters from the book.
Encourage your students to use their imagination as they write and draw!

Sarah and her friend Taylor were in charge of New Beginnings as one of their value projects. There was a quote from a different Dr. Seuss book for each value. There's my Rebecca talking about Divine Nature! I gotta say assemble-your-own-Schlopp is quite good! This was the introduction of the new girls table. There is a poem in the background written about them in Dr. Seuss style. That was my job. Taylor's mother supervised everything else. She says she got a lot of ideas online. I think she's glad this is over! Each girl got to take one of these home.

We had a FANTASTIC New Beginnings last night. Our theme was based on the Dr. Seuss book "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" The invitation: This is what the room looked like: Each girl participated in some way (some with decorations, others with speaking parts). We had an AWESOME guest speaker. She is a musician and has written mostly EFY music. She connected so well with the girls. The best part of the night was her performing an original song, written for our New Beginnings that had "Oh, the Places You'll Go" in the title, but she tied it in to Stand in Holy Places. We gave each girl crazy Seuss-like socks to remind them to always let their feet take them to holy places. The socks: The girls LOVED the socks. They put them on right away and some were willing to pose for me. I got the socks from Target. Here are the files for invitations and sock label: Invite - Microsoft Publisher file, Word (docx), or PDF Sock Label - Microsoft Publisher file, or PDF Banner - PDF Sign Posts - PDF

Jenny’s never had much time for boys, K-pop, or really anything besides her dream of being a professional cellist. But when she finds herself falling for a K-pop idol, she has to decide whether their love is worth the risk. A modern forbidden romance wrapped in the glamorous and exclusive world of K-pop, XOXO is perfect for fans of Jenny Han and Maurene Goo.** Jenny didn’t get to be an award-winning, classically trained cellist without choosing practice over fun. That is, until the night she meets Jaewoo. Mysterious, handsome, and just a little bit tormented, Jaewoo is exactly the kind of distraction Jenny would normally avoid. And yet, she finds herself pulled into spending an unforgettable evening wandering Los Angeles with him on the night before his flight home to South Korea. With Jaewoo an ocean away, there’s no use in dreaming of what could have been. But when Jenny and her mother move to Seoul to take care of her ailing grandmother, who does she meet at the elite arts academy she’s just been accepted to? Jaewoo. Finding the dreamy stranger who swept you off your feet in your homeroom is one thing, but Jaewoo isn’t just any student. Turns out, Jaewoo is a member of one of the biggest K-pop bands in the world. And like most K-pop idols, Jaewoo is strictly forbidden from dating anyone. When a relationship means not only jeopardizing her place at her dream music school but also endangering everything Jaewoo’s worked for, Jenny has to decide once and for all just how much she’s willing to risk for love. XOXO is a new romance that proves chasing your dreams doesn’t have to mean sacrificing your heart, from acclaimed author Axie Oh. Indigo Best Teen Books of 2021

I've been a part of the Young Women's program in our church for only two months now. For those of you who don't exactly know what I'm talking about or what that means, allow me to explain: Our church leadership is run solely on a volunteer basis. Although our bishop and bishopric members extend specific "callings" (responsibilities) to individual members, the acceptance of these callings is not required and all callings are fulfilled without pay. These callings could be anything from leading the music in a sacrament meeting, to teaching Sunday School, to in my case, working with the youth, specifically the teenage girls ages 12-18. One of the main purposes of the Young Women's program in our church is something called Personal Progress. Throughout their time in Young Women's, the girls work through projects and experiences dealing with 8 different life values: faith, divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice and accountability, good works, integrity and virtue. The projects and experiences could be anything from reading certain scriptures and writing down your thoughts on them... to doing 10hrs of service in the community... With 8 values, each requiring you to complete a number of experiences and a final "value project", it took me a few years to complete my Personal Progress when I was in Young Women's as a girl. Each year, the Young Women's program puts on a YW In Excellence night, where the girls come (with their parents) and showcase an experience or project that they worked on that year. Some girls learned how to cook with their mother's, so they brought her favorite snack samples for everyone to try; some learned the intricacies of family history work and were able to showcase all the names they were able to find and index; others shared journal excerpts or artwork... Just as boy scouts are rewarded with merit badges for archery or swimming, Young Women are honored for their knowledge and testimonies gained in all the important life values needed to live a successful, fulfilling life as a daughter of God. As part of the YW presidency, I offered to spearhead the YW In Excellence night. I had the girls pick out a theme for the event - they chose the Dr. Seuss book "Oh the Places You'll Go!" and I ran with it. Pinterest was my crutch through the whole thing, but I am living proof that some Pinterest projects WILL succeed! I probably took on way too much, because I'm horrible when it comes to delegating, but I don't regret a thing because it turned out perfectly and all the girls loved it :) Straws from Target for the BOMB punch: recipe here I had the girls make the tissue paper pom poms for our YW activity last Wednesday. We put them on wooden dowels and poured sand around them to get them to stay in the little metal pails - the perfect Truffala tree! I found these 'sprinkle' balloons here - they were perfect for the theme. We cut out tons of tissue paper confetti and stuffed it into the balloons before blowing them up. Extra confetti was sprinkled on the tables...it was too cute to waste :) The best snickerdoodles in all the land: recipe here One of my most favorite snacks is popcorn. And some of the most delicious popcorn is found at Garrett's in Chicago. They're known for their caramel-cheddar mix...so I tried to mock it. It turned out a lot better than expected, so I was pleased. Recipe here Yurtle Turtles: recipe here & rainbow Jello cubes: recipe here & obviously rainbow candy galore! They had their choice of paper bag or little plastic bowl to dish their snacks into The invite - I made this in Adobe Illustrator using free Dr. Seuss fonts found here One of my favorite decorations of the night were these Dr. Seuss 'value quotes' that I made in Illustrator and had printed for the value tables the girls set their projects up on. Each color indicates the specific value the quote is associated with. White (gray): Faith / Red: Individual Worth / Green: Knowledge / Gold: Virtue Orange: Choice and Accountability / Blue: Divine Nature / Purple: Integrity / Yellow: Good Works The program - made in Adobe Illustrator Invites, program, and all value quote prints are available in my Etsy shop! Made-to-order for you and your ward! Willing to negotiate based on need (ie. for Girls Camp rather than YW in Excellence or New Beginnings).

When I saw this little linky over at Funky First Grade Fun, I thought it would be interesting to see what other teachers had to offer. I put a lot of time at the beginning of the year into stressing that we are a "team" and when one member of the team is not doing their job the whole team will suffer. I even named our class blog Team 2B to get that sense of team moral going. I also talk a lot about risk taking. I know this is a hard concept for my Year 2s to get and know that it is definitely a behaviour that is hard to demonstrate. My favourite book to read to get students thinking about their choices is “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...” ― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go! Go link up!

This was one of my very first bulletin boards in our school counseling lobby when I first started at my school. Seeing how it went pretty viral on Pinterest
Ok, i'll admit it... Hi, my name is Stephanie and i'm addicted to Pinterest. Last summer i just happened to be on pinterest ( yes, again) and i saw a pin of THE BEST graduation gift... have each of your children's teachers sign a copy "Oh , the places you'll go", and present it to them at graduation. I got on Amazon and ordered the book that day. Since my daughter is currently wrapping up her Kindergarten year, i had to make sure that i got the book to her teacher ( i missed preschool! oops!) ASAP. Steps to the best graduation present: Step 1: buy this book. :) Step 2: add in a poem/note to her teachers. Step 3: Have their teacher(s) sign it. Step 4: repeat until Senior year Step 5: wrap and present to the new graduate! For the note card: Last night, I was looking up and down the web for a nice note/poem to place in the book with instructions for the teachers on what to do as well as why we wanted to do this... and i came up empty handed. Soooo... i made one up and thought i would share it! I found a "Dr. Seuss-ish" image on the internet, copied the wording onto the graphic, and printed it on a 4x6" card. I then attached the card on the first page of the book with acid free adhesive, so the teacher of each year/semester/class would have the same note. I plan on emailing each of her teachers ahead of time, notifying them "the book is coming" too-- but thought this would be a nice read for the teachers, as well as for Kaitlyn when get finally gets the book in 12 years! ;) Here is the note i created, feel free to use it and modify as you see fit (i.e. son/daughter, he/she ;) ) Dear Teacher, As parents, we appreciate the countless hours you have poured into our daughter, (child's name). The knowledge, guidance, and leadership you have demonstrated will always remain in her heart. You have played such an important role in her life and have helped her grow in so many ways, and for that, we cannot thank you enough. As a favor to us, we would like to ask you to please take a moment to write a small note to ___(child's name)___ anywhere inside this book. In honor of you, we will present this book to her as a surprise at her high school graduation. We cannot think of a better way to celebrate this achievement than with the words of those who directly impacted her education. Please notify us when you are finished so arrangements can be made to pick up the signed book. Our sincerest gratitude, ___________(mom/dad names)_____ Parents of ___(child)___, Class of _____ **Just make sure you put your child's full name on there somewhere in case there is more than one "Jimmy" or "Susie" in their class ;) I'm sure i'll blink and my daughter's graduation day will be here before i know it-- but for now?? i am going to enjoy this adventure known as life and i'm excited to see the places she'll go.... For those who liked the graphic, i attached it below. It was found during a google search. Please note this is NOT for sale nor shall it be used as part of a sold item in any way.

Looking for Things to do in Helsinki? Well, you've come to the right place!Oh Helsinki! B and I did an around the world trip from March till May. We started in Lapland Finland and LOVED every day spent there. Since we only had a few months to go around the world, we were on a tight schedule. We flew out of Helsinki but didn’t have time to hang out in the city. So I was way excited when we were invited back to enjoy a week in Helsinki during the midsummer celebration.
