First off I'm so excited to share with you all my latest layout and video tutorial created for The Scrapbook Diaries (BUT I ALSO HAVE SOME HAPPY NEWS TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL REGARDING MY PAST VIDEO TUTORIALS FOR THE SCRAPBOOK DIARIES)! This layout was fun to make and full of really fun items to use on a page!....pretty resins, mists, my favorite brick stamp, loads of Prima blooms and more! I also LOVE the Lindy's Mists in this one! If you are a little timid in trying out mists on your pages, you will totally love these mists, the are soft and subtle, easy colors to work with! And while I will admit my last video was a little more challenging, this one is a layout that I believe can be recreated by crafters of all skill levels. As always, The Scrapbook Diaries has created a kit that is packed with all the items you will need to create this page plus a bonus page, as well as giving you full, unlimited access to the video tutorial showing how to create this page (with purchase of the kit). Here is a close-up of some of the gorgeous Prima blooms included in this lovely kit, as well as the unique and beautiful chipboard, resin frame, lace, stamps etc. included in the kit. As always the kit also includes the amazing mixed media products (mists/sprays) I used for this page as well! (Here are a few more close-ups)... Janene, the owner of The Scrapbook Diaries tells me that my kits have been selling out fast, so if you missed out on the last few kits, you might want to hop onto this one quickly! You can find the kit and video information HERE. The kit is offered as a Basic Kit or as a Complete kit (this allows you to have some flexibility in your purchase price.....sometimes you may have the extra mixed media items in your stash and just want the basic kit to complete the page design). I've also got some other exciting news for you all! The 4 other kits (shown below) that I created for The Scrapbook Diaries have completely sold out, but after talking to Janene, we felt that it's a shame to leave the videos created for the kits to sit idle as they have a lot of technique in them that we feel can be enjoyed by more of an audience. So Janene has set it up that the video tutorials are now available for a small fee for unlimited viewing to anyone that purchases them for online viewing. (We decided to put them up for a small fee to be fair to the customers that paid for the full kit and video). Here are the VIDEO TUTORIALS that are now available..... Video Tutorial Link for 'Love' can be found~~~~ HERE Video Tutorial Link for 'Happiness' can be found ~~~~ HERE Video Tutorial for 'Love Beyond Measure' can be found ~~~~ HERE Video Tutorial for 'Memories' can be found ~~~~ HERE As you can imagine I put a lot of work into these layouts and video tutorials, so I am so pleased that more of you will now be able to access these videos. The one time small fee will give you unlimited access to the the videos, once your purchase has gone through, you will recieve a code that will give you access to the video. Thanks so much for stopping in today, and to all those lovely ladies who are so sweet to frequent my blog and leave all the lovely comments and feedback, I just want to say a big thank-you, your kindness is so appreciated!
Hi everyone! Today I have a 'pretty in pink' layout to share with you, using Maja design papers, Dusty Attic Chipboard and lots of lovely goodies from Tresors de Luxe Etsy shop. I almost feel a little guilty sharing this layout because this is from a Maja Design Limited Edition collection that I believe is now sold out....but then of course, that means that a lot of you have this collection in your stash, and might like to see more samples done with this collection. I just love the florals and beautiful pinks and greens in this collection. The papers I used for this project are..... Maja Design Papers: Sofiero (Royal Summer Recidence, Enjoying the Lovely Fragrance, Romantic Picnic in the Park, Stroling Down the Rose Path). I was given these beautiful handmade blooms (Multi-color Chiffon Flowers) from my friend Lucy at Tresors de Luxe Etsy site. When I saw the pretty fabric blooms I thought immediately of the the Maja Design Sofiero collection, I just knew these blooms would work well with these papers! Lucy has such an amazing collection of beautiful handcrafted blooms in her store and her vintage lace is absolutely gorgeous. I also used one of her 'Shabby-chic Floral Clusters' on this page along with some of her lovely vintage lace. If you haven't visited Lucy's shop before, you are in for a treat! I love these papers so much that I've used up most of my stash, but I still had lots of bits and pieces left, so I used some of these to make the little ribbon banners coming out of the side of my page design. I added machine stitching to the paper ribbons to give more of a 'fabric' look to them. I accented my page with a few pieces of Dusty Attic chipboard (Skeleton Clock frame, Folliage, Wrought Iron Fence, Speech Bubbles, Ornate Corner #6). I also added a bit of of texture with home-made texture paste and a Crafters Workshop stencil (Mini-Damask). A question I get asked a lot is where you can find Maja Design Papers and Dusty Attic chipboard in North America. I try to keep up to date links in my side panel of my blog as sources for my blog folowers....but two shops that carry a good supply are: The Scrapbook Diaries (For Maja Design Papers....and Yes! Janene has ordered in the ENTIRE new 'Coffee in the Arbour' collection!) Moments of Tranquility (Natasha has a HUGE collection of Dusty Attic chipboard in her online store as well as Maja Design papers). Thanks so much for stopping by today and letting me share my latest project with you! I appreciate all the sweet comments and feedback! xo xo

I thought I would share with you today a mixed media style layout I made. I've been on the Bo Bunny design team for many years now and have gotten to play with so many lovely papers and embellishments. So for this project I thought I would pull together lots fun fun Bo Bunny embellishments, flowers, wood accents, buttons, chipboard and trinkets. I began by choosing a favorite patterned paper for me, from the Happy Tails collection as a nice simple backdrop for my page design. Then I started gathering together lots and lots of embellishments from a variety of Bo Bunny collections. DESIGNER TIP: The beauty of this project was that I could use bits and pieces from any collection irregardless of the color of the piece because I was covering them all with Gesso (to get an even and porous work surface) and then misting it all with some aqua and brown inks and then finally giving it all a coating of gold paint. See the two blooms with the green pearl centers? They were orange fabric blooms that Bo Bunny put out many many years ago. Here I was able to make them work by painting them to match my page. Here is another view of the many blooms, buttons, metal trinkets, wood accents....even lace that I used to create loads of the deep texture on the page design. I also layered in loads of chipboard, above you can see pieces from the Modern Miss collection (flourishes, large numbers etc.) and again, it didn't matter what colors they were as I was using a mixed media painting technique that blended them all together. Once the project was dry, I added a few jewelled accents and some brads that were in complementary colors. Bo Bunny Products: Patterned Paper: Happy Tails / Happy Tails; Miss Bold, Selfie / Modern Miss; Doors / The Avenues. Chipboard: Modern Miss Wood Embellishments: Kraft Wood Cogs Washi Tape: Kraft Patterned Washi Tape Trinkets: Serinade, Serenity, Apple Cider, Buttons: Love Letters, Happy Tails, Modern Miss Brads: The Avenues, Primrose Blossoms: Clover Daisy, Natural Earth Pansy, Natural Earth Bouquet, Fabric Blossoms (older collection) Lace: Natural Earth Lace Jewels: Modern Miss, Primrose I hope you enjoyed my mixed media page and hope that I've inspired you to use up those odds and ends and create your own mixed media piece! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today and as always I appreciate all the kind and encouraging feedback!

I just love that this week Websters Pages & Dusty Attic is doing a product collaberation in which both design teams get to work with both companies products together! I was sent this beautiful 12x12 Display Frame a while back from Dusty Attic and finally got the chance to use it! I decided to make a Shabby-Chic wall hanging for on of my daughters bedroom. I used a combination of Websters Pages Western Romance, Postcards from Paris and Lifes Portrait Collections, along with a number of their beautiful trims and embellishments (DesignerThreads/Heart Doily, Silhouettes/Cameo, WP/Unity Stamp Set/Beauty). And from Dusty Attic I used the 12x12 Display Frame and about another 10 pieces of their beautiful laser cuts including the new Cameo Sliders (behind the cameo), Corset, 2 of the new Rose Stems, a Lamp Post #4, Baroque corners, Wrought Iron Fence, and a Wrought Iron Trim Set (along the top of the design). Here are some close-up shots of each of the sections on this home decor piece... The Rosebud I simply painted white and used a pink and light green chalk ink on the edges to give it some subtle color. I just LOVE these new Dusty Attic Cameo Sliders!! It's like they were specially made for the Websters Pages Silhouettes! They fit perfectly! For the Corset chippie, I painted the whole thing with white paint, then inked it lightly with some pink chalk ink. Then I stamped the piece with a lace stamp (I used a strip stamp from an old Prima Frame stamp set for this). And then finally added some glitter with a bit of Stickles (Stardust). TIP: I wanted to keep the pinks very soft on this project so I slightly changed the look of the Websters Pages Cameo by dabbing some Colorbox White Chalk ink over the edges of the Cameo piece... This week the design teams of both Websters Pages and Dusty Attic will be posting their projects at a special thread in their forums. I've seen most of the projects and let me say, they are spectacular! You can view the projects made by the Dusty Attic design team girls throughout the week at this link DUSTY ATTIC FORUM ...and you can see the projects of the girls from the Websters Pages design team girls at this link WEBSTERS PAGES FORUM. Thanks for stopping by my blog and having a peek, and thanks so much for your kind comments, your feedback means a lot to me! (Please note: I am often asked where you all can find the Dusty Attic Products, I have listed a number of great retailers for this product that are happy to ship worldwide! You can find them in the right hand column of my blog....I got a note from a number of them recently that they have just recieved new product and are fully stocked....but my advice is hurry, because I understand they sell out quickly! ...Many of them (such as http://www.staytruetogod.com/ ) will take orders too if they don't have the items you were looking for in stock!

Today we have a bit of inspiration to share with everyone! The weather is changing...the days are getting longer...and all things seem fresh and new once again? With so much changing all around us now, how can we use this excitement to bring new looks...
So recently Chloe hurt her foot (I think she might've broke her baby toe)....she's on the couch, bored, with her foot up on the ottoman. So I thought I would pull out some cardstock (if you girls are anything like me you have tons of scrap cardstock!) and a few flower punches and a bottle of glimmer mist and try out a new bloom making technique with her. I've seen this done with all sorts of different punches, die cutting machines etc. but the basic idea is wetting your cardstock pieces with paper to give it a more crumpled vintage look. I simply used 2 different sizes of my Retro Flower Punch to create the ones I made here. So for those of you who haven't seen this technique yet I thought I'd share the steps here.....I kid you not, these are addictive!!! Step 1 ~ Punch 3 Large blooms out with your flower punch or die cutting machine. Then punch out 4 smaller ones. (My large flower punch is not the largest in the group of Retro flower punches, there's an extra-large punch too but I used the large and medium) ....You can use all the same colours or as I did above use a couple of colours that compliment each other...... Step 2 ~ For step 2 all you need is a spritz bottle of plain water or a glimmer mist if you'd like some shimmer. I couldn't find my water spritzer so I grabbed a Glimmer mist I had on the shelf that has clear water in it with some pearl glimmer in it. But just plain water works just as well. Lightly spray them on both sides, they do not have to be really wet, just slightly damp. (you could also tint the edges of the blooms with some chalk in before you spritz for an added color depth)..... Step 3 ~ This is the fun part! Just gently crumple them up! They will look like little crumpled up balls of paper..... Step 4 ~ Now gently undo the petals letting the crumple shape stay in the petals. Leave one of the smaller pieces in a tight bud for the center. They will look something like this..... Now glue the pieces with a little dab of glue in the center one inside the other, making sure that the petals on each layer alternate with the layer below it......the result is the bloom you see at the top of the page. You can also slightly twist the petals when they are damp for another more distressed look to your bloom.....here is a picture of a purple bloom Chloe was working on. She lightly twisted each petal after she opened up the crumpled ball (just use your fingers to twist the petals)...... Here are a bunch of blooms Chloe & I just finished making!! Play with different color combinations and inks for different effects! You'll also get different looks by using different shaped punches! There are no rules to make these, any punch/die cut will do and and number of petals on the punch. Chloe made some with extra layers for some really fluffy looking blooms too! Option #2 Okay! ....this is for you girls who don't have a flower punch! or any type of die-cutter!!! I tried this technique by just cutting out a few circles with a pair of scissors. Step 1 ~ Cut out a large jaggedy edge circle out of some cardstock. Then cut out 2 more slightly smaller circles. Then I chose a lighter shade of cardstock and cut out 2 more smaller jaggedy edge circles..... Step 2 ~ Create a slight petal design by cutting small 'V' slits into the edges. I start by making one slit, then I do one on the opposite side. Then I cut 2 more between the 2 I just made. This will give you 6 petals (ink the edges for more depth to your bloom)....... Step 3 ~ Just like above spritz both sides lightly with some water. Then bringing the petals up from the center give them a good scrunching!! ..... Step 4 ~ Open them up and let them dry, they will look like this..... Glue them all together with a dab of glue in the centers, leaving the center one tight (or you could put a pretty gem in the center for a different look) Here's how mine came out..... And for you girls who worry about clunky things on your l/o that don't sit flat enough....check this out how nice and flat it is (and believe me, when these are dry, they really hold their shape!)...... So, no need for fancy punches!! this technique can be done with a pair of scissors and water! I had a lot of fun using this technique on some of my upcoming l/o's for my design team work for MCS. I'll be posting the layouts on the 5th, hope you come back for a peek! ~Gabrielle xxx

When does writing begin? The act of committing the first words to a page—as I am doing now—is cited for its difficulty.
