Peer assessment is a valuable tool in the editing process and students love the chance to get feedback from their classmates. After students have individually checked their own work, they meet up with a partner (ideally this should be teacher allocated to align with similar ability levels) and read their written work to their peer. The buddy then completes the review of 2 stars (2 positives) and a wish (constructive criticism on what the student can work/focus on for next time). Both students sign their names at the bottom of the slip. The writer is the student who wrote and shared their writing, the editor is the reviewer who is giving feedback. The small slip is then glued into the writer’s book. These are also valuable for a teacher to give a quick assessment with student feedback. 2 styles have been included in both square and longer sizes: - 2 stars and a wish (for younger students) - 2 medals and a mission (for upper grades)
Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, DL (1859-1930) was a Scottish author. He is most noted for his stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, which are generally considered a major innovation in the field of crime fiction, and for the adventures of Professor Challenger. He was a prolific writer whose other works include science fiction stories, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry, and non-fiction. His first significant work was A Study in Scarlet, which appeared in Beeton's Christmas Annual for 1887 and featured the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes, who was partially modelled after his former university professor, Joseph Bell. Other works include The Firm of Girdlestone (1890), The Captain of the Polestar (1890), The Doings of Raffles Haw (1892), Beyond the City (1892), The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1892), The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard (1896), The Great Boer War (1900), The Green Flag (1900), The Hound of the Baskervilles (1902), and The Lost World (1912). Sir Nigel is a historical novel set during the Hundred Years' War. Written in 1906, it is a fore-runner to Doyle's earlier novel The White Company, and describes the early life of that book's hero Sir Nigel Loring in the service of King Edward III at the start of the Hundred Years' War.
