Stars Wheel in Purple _________________________ Stars wheel in purple, yours is not so rare as Hesperus, nor yet so great a star as bright Aldeboran or Sirius, nor yet the stained and brilliant one of War; stars turn in purple, glorious to the sight; yours is not gracious as the Pleiads are nor as Orion's sapphires, luminous; yet disenchanted, cold, imperious face, when all the others blighted, reel and fall, your star, steel-set, keeps lone and frigid tryst to freighted ships, baffled in wind and blast. - - - Hilda Doolittle - - - Aurora borealis also known as the northern lights here in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories Canada February 7th, 2013 Image By: Francis Anderson www.flickr.com/photos/39548131@N06/ www.facebook.com/SavillePhoto

The ice we were standing on here seemed really thick but every 5-10 mins would expand and sounded like a cannon being fired. Certainly enough to make me very nervous!

The ruins of the structures (pictured) at St Just, near Penzance, which once housed the mines are a 'dramatic counterpoint' to the wild seas of Cornwall’s north coast, according to the list by CNN.
The Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis are a spectacular natural phenomenon, often seen dancing around in fantastic colours across the Icelandic Arctic sky. The Northern lights are caused by the interaction of particles from the sun with the upper atmosphere near the North Pole. That creates this wonderful light effect, known as the Aurora Borealis. The locations visited are different every tour since we go where it’s most likely to see the Northern Lights each day. This tour is depending on weather and sightings are not guaranteed. If you don't see any lights on your tour you are welcome to join the tour again free of charge. www.re.is/DayTours/Allourtours/Details/Northern-Lights-To...
I took this photo on the evening of the Aurora Australis a few weeks ago. I came up with (BY ACCIDENT!) a new way of orienting the Milky Way so it goes straight up and down. Really, in the sky, it is a little bit tilted to the right. Anyway, here’s the trick. When you take the photo, have your camera tilted to the left a bit. Then, when you crop later in Photoshop, turn on the “Perspective” checkbox and drag over the upper left corner until it is parallel with the Milky Way. Only people that are good at visualizing photoshop can understand what I am saying here… but I hope it helps! Next time, I will do this trick by taking the tilted-photo on purpose! :) - Trey Ratcliff Click here to read the entire post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
