El Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales (MNAV) ha lanzado el Premio Nacional Bicentenario, diseñado para distinguir obras de peso. "En el año del museo nos pareció importante que se presentaran los mejores." dijo Aguerre. Para conseguir esto último, además de ofrecer una retribución económica atractiva (200.000 y 100.000 pesos por la adquisición de las dos obras seleccionadas) el concurso está organizado en dos etapas; para atravesar la primera deben presentarse currículum, capturas fotográficas de la obra a inscribir, ficha técnica y otros requisitos que aseguren que el concursante es realmente un artista. La idea es que los artistas con trayectoria vean una oportunidad de formar parte del acervo del museo y por otro lado sepan que van a ser exhibidos en el mejor lugar, la Sala 2 del museo, y de la mejor manera posible". Para Aguerre, el concurso, aunque "no está pensado como una prueba", debería aclarar el estado de la producción pictórica nacional. "Soy de los que visitan los talleres y estoy convencido de que hay grandes creadores", aclara. En este año en el MNAV se expusieron muestras de dibujantes y pintores como Javier Bassi, Carlos Barea y Carlos Capelán. Además, la exposición de todos los ganadores del Premio Figari (iniciado en 1995 y orientado a distinguir trayectorias) y una muestra del acervo del Palacio Legislativo. "Las tres actividades configuran un buen panorama de la pintura nacional en perspectiva bicentenaria: por un lado los contemporáneos, por otro los maestros, y a partir del nuevo concurso, los creadores que nos permitirán mirar hacia el futuro". Los días 20 y 21 de octubre se recibirán las carpetas y la muestra con los seleccionados comenzará el 3 de noviembre.
