It's one thing seeing a finished painting, but I love to see the process. If a painting has a process, it also has a story. It's like when you meet someone new, it's difficult to form an opinion on them, until you know a bit about them. Well I want to introduce you to my newest seascape 'Silk Bandag

Perfect timing too, as her baby brother’s first birthday is just over a week away and she’s absolutely vibrating with excitement. {this post contains affiliate links} The idea came from the newest addition to our art book collection –…
I sewed 16 quarter blocks last night and put them up on the design wall with the 2 sewn blocks. I can see a couple I need to move because a fabric is too close to itself in another block. I will probably sew all of the rest of the quarter blocks before I come up with the final layout. The blocks are 18" so 12 should be enough for a throw quilt. I need to sew 23 more center strips which are 2 darks sewn together and 6 more dark/light pieces. It was a beautiful day yesterday so I spent an hour and a half digging out Tiger Lilies in a garden that is going to be redone. If anyone who is close to Sandwich IL wants any, my email address is on my right sidebar. I have them in water now and they will be good for a few days this way. I plan to plant a few in the back garden. Here is a photo of the orange Tiger Lilies from 2019. They grow about 4' tall with a sturdy stem and many blooms on each plant. They also self seed which is why I had so many to dig out. It is getting close to the end of the month and I don't have any finishes yet. I think I made 4 quilt tops so far. I do a monthly recap each month (label on the label list, right side bar if you are curious) so I'm thinking ahead to how I want to spend the last 4 days of this month.

Hello, friends! Today it's my turn to inspire you and I have prepared an unusual art object. This is a mixed media violin. I covered each of the three parts of the blank with white gesso, applied craquelure paste and painted it with sprays. Next, some acrylic paints. Tone added waxes - I can't imagine any of my work in the mixed media technique without them! I also painted the chipboard. In the final, a little accent paint and toppings - shimmer and Shine always attract attention)) I took a lesson on decorating this blank, in which you can see all the stages with your own eyes. Enjoy! Mixed Media Place supplies:
This is Donna's Flannel quilt and it is made up from all her flannel scraps. I love the colors and how cozy flannel quilts are, I could see this one anyone's bed or couch as a cuddle quilt. She didn't use a pattern but made the same block and just reversed the strips in each row and added a scrappy inner border. I used a panto called Happy Times, it is one of my favorite inexpensive 'go to' pantos that has really nice movement. We have been having really nice weather, sunny and -5'c so far this week! I'll take that for February. Oh and here is what I made my boys for Valentines day yesterday. I made 5. Nothing says love like BIG homemade cookies!! :) I actually ate a whole one yesterday...I don't even want to think how many cookies that was equivalent too!
