Whenever I leave my kids at home while I go out of town...I like to leave them with a little incentive to make sure the house doesn't fall apart! Last time it was this fun idea! But I decided to change it up a little this time around by making a prize punch board!

I simply adore this ALLIGATOR BAYOU + SWAMP BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Emily Welch of Magnolia Creative Co.! Such a fun boy themed party! Everything is just too, too cute! Here is what Emily had to say about the party- This party was for my son’s first birthday. His birthday falls at the same time as […]
It's party time! I love planning parties and designing party printables has become my part-time job. {No really, it is! Go check out my ETSY Shop SewInLoveBlogShop, where you can find the printables from all my parties!} My newest party is Luke's 1st Birthday "Handyman" Party and you're all invited! Coming up with a theme for a 1st birthday party can be really difficult. 4 Years Olds ask for birthdays at DisneyLand. 3 Year Olds ask for their favorite character, Thomas the Train! 2 Year Olds love anything, especially when it's a Sock Monkey Party with their best buddies! But, how do you come up with a theme for a little guy? We chose Owen's 1st birthday theme because we were taking him to the Dallas Zoo. For Luke, I decided to see what he was drawn to. One day, after helping Daddy work in the garage, I realized that Luke's favorite toys were all TOOLS! He would crawl around with a hammer in his hand, chew on a little toy screwdriver, and he was constantly playing with his Playskool tool bench toy. Then, one weekend, Brendon built a tool bench for the garage and a light bulb went off! A handyman party! Originally, we considered having the party in our garage, using all of Brendon's tools and his new workbench as the backdrop. But... then we remembered that we live in Las Vegas--- and Luke was born in July--- and it's 107 degrees outside, in the shade. So, the party took a little detour to our dining room. Brendon volunteered (no really, he did!) to move the gigantic tool bench into the house for me. I did my part to help by holding up the door ... after it was removed from the hinges! Yes, we took down the door and the tool bench just made it into the house! *We moved the tool bench into the house a few days before the party and Owen loved it. He thought it was brilliant that we replaced the buffet table in the dining room with a useful piece of furniture, like a tool bench. I think he really thought it was staying there forever and that we'd be hammering, drilling, and working on projects inside from now on. I may be the only girl in a house full of boys, but I draw the line at storing power tools in the dining room. Now that the party is over, we've moved the bench back outside. The party theme was a perfect fit for our little man and so much fun to plan! I spent a few weeks creating all the party printables-- Banner, High Chair sign, favor tags, and a few extra decorations. Plus, hours and hours baking and decorating his cakes. The kitchen was such a mess, but the finished product was worth all the work. I had two cakes --- a "paint can" smash cake with green chocolate paint dripping down the sides, like a real paint can would. The second cake was a wooden chocolate buttercream cake with chocolate tools! The food table fit the theme, too! There were large paint trays with fruit salad, Chex Mix, a veggie tray with a small paint tray holding ranch dip, and Rice Krispies Treats Paint Brushes. These paint brushes were delicious and so simple. *Premade Rice Krispies Treats with a popsicle stick poked in the bottom and colored chocolate drizzled down the top. Brendon moved the toolbox inside for me and it became our serving station for all the plates, napkins, and utensils. I added a little sign to Luke's chair and, keeping with the theme, used zip-ties to connect them! I used my new embroidery machine to create aprons for all the kids. There were three families at the party, so I made coordinating aprons for all the siblings. Bryce and Kyle were given red aprons with a hammer and saw appliqué. Kylee, Kaleb, Landon, and Olyvia got white aprons with paint buckets that had their favorite colors as the paint. This was probably the most time consuming part of the party, but were totally worth the work! The kids looked adorable as they built toolboxes... this simple project was actually a little more complicated than expected. The dads ended up completing most of the work -- the sides wouldn't stay together and the nails bent constantly. The kids didn't mind and enjoyed watching their toolbox being built. They also enjoyed writing their names on the chalkboard paint! Luke ate the hammer while the guests waited for their toolboxes to be built! The new toolboxes were a great favor holder. Each of the kids left with a new apron and two types of favors. There were tool shaped bathtub water squirters and chocolate tools. Each were put in baggies and had a favor tag. Owen is still in love with the water squirters! We were so happy to have a house full of friends and it was the perfect number for a 1st birthday party. I loved that I had plenty of time to talk to friends, play with the kids, and enjoy watching Luke eat his cake! Luke loved seeing all of his friends. His little buddy, Kyle, took a nap during the first few minutes, slept through all the hammering, and woke up ready to party! We had a bounce house set up in the backyard. The kids (& adults) loved it! Luke smiled the entire time he got to jump! After walking around the garage, looking for ideas, I found a game ... ring toss! We set the game up using our 4 cones and diving rings. David and Brendon played a serious game of ring toss ---the kids used the cones as hats. Either way, it was a fun game! Luke loved his cards and new toys! His toy bench, from Grammy and Poppa, came with a toy phone. Luke immediately used it to call his friend, Kylee. Must have been a great talk because Luke gave her a HUGE kiss after! All those sweet kisses later, we moved onto the real sweets... CAKE! Luke had no idea what was in store! Just like his brother, Luke reached for the candle and Brendon quickly blew the candle out. While Luke ate his cake, Landon shared a little chocolate saw with him. The sugar high hit hard and fast after all the cake and chocolate! He was super giggly as he squished the cake between his fingers! He even offered to share with Jess! This party is my favorite theme yet! I loved that we used so much from our garage, the kids loved it, and the new things we purchased are all reusable! The garage now has a fresh stock of buckets, paint trays, paint tarps, and 1 cinder block. The Handyman Birthday Party printables are available for purchase in my ETSY shop! Click here to read about Emery's pink and gold first birthday party! Our little sweetheart turned TWO this week! She's loved Elmo for a while, so we decided in January that we would do an Elmo birthday party for her. We had some really pretty days in February, so we took the pictures for her invitation and we got some really sweet ones. We did a really small party again this year, so we really didn't have to have invitations, but I still wanted to make one. This invitation design is available in my Etsy shop! Click here if you're interested! Here's one my favorite parts of Emery's fun day! The dessert table! Let me tell you, it was definitely her favorite part. I bought lots of M&Ms around Valentine's Day because they were pink and red, and she was in heaven because they were within her reach and nobody was stopping her from eating them!! There is no telling how many M&Ms she ate!! She was up until 10:30 that night, so it was a *lot*! {You can click on the pictures to see them larger.} I used these confetti balloons at her party last year and loved them *so* much! The sweet people at this Etsy shop gave me the balloons for her party this year. They gave me the giant "2" balloon, too. Emery *loved* that giant balloon...and all of the other ones, too! The Etsy shop where I got the balloons is offering all of my readers a coupon code for 10% off a purchase of $10 or more. The code is BLESSED10 and it is valid through January 31, 2020. Yay! I promise you will love these balloons!! Click here to visit their shop. I made her stats poster again this year and it was another one of my favorite things. Such sweet memories on that poster! This custom stats poster is available in my Etsy shop. Click here if you're interested! I was loving that all the Valentine's Day candy coordinated with her party colors! We had Hershey's Kisses, York Peppermint Patties, and M&Ms...all favorites of Emery's! Cake stand: Kirkland's Cupcake tower: Amazon; Picture frames {spray painted}, heart dish: Dollar Tree; Cardboard 2/E {spray painted}, polka dot plates: Hobby Lobby Oh, this cake!! The same friend who made her stunning cake last year made this precious Elmo cake. It just brought everything on the table together. I loved it so much! Emery talked about her "Elmo cake!" all weekend! Seriously...all weekend. Pink and orange cupcakes! I also made "2" and "E" cookies. They tasted really good, but I wish I would have decorated them differently! I don't know why I didn't use orange frosting instead of the white?! Of course I thought of it after I had already frosted half of them white. I made a template for the Elmos that are on the ends of her banner and just printed it out on colored card stock. Click here to download the template. I *loved* how her banner turned out! I had a sweet friend that cut out all of the scalloped circles and regular circles for me with her Silhouette! It saved me *so* much time because I was planning to cut out everything by hand like I did for her banner last year! I used those sticky foam squares to attach the letters so they would be raised up a little. I loved how it looked! I made a matching banner for her high chair, too. We decorated the mantle with more confetti balloons and Elmo balloons. Those Elmo balloons are from the Dollar Tree!! Yes! I also hung a few circles from the mantle that matched the cupcake toppers and tissue paper pom poms. We hung this sign on the front door. We decorated the kitchen with tissue paper pom poms and more of the little circles that matched the cupcake toppers. Cute Cokes and waters! I used some of Emery's stuffed Elmos to decorate, too. We had pizza for dinner, so I just had a few of Emery's favorite snacks out for when everyone got there. Chips and dip, lots of fruit and fruit dip, goldfish, and cheese and crackers. Of course, I saw this on Pinterest! Elmo and Dorothy hanging out by the fish bowl. On to the pictures of our sweet girl enjoying her big day! It was hard to keep her still! She was so excited! She made *lots* of visits to the M&M bowl! Pointing to a picture of her and Elmo. More M&Ms for the birthday girl! With our sweet two-year-old! That precious smile was brought to you by her sweet and silly cousin Vanna! Time to open presents! Vanna made Emery a sweet Elmo card! It was so cute! Emery got a little timid opening presents, so Daddy and I had to help a little bit. I'm pretty sure she had a mouth full of M&Ms here. Showing Poppa one of her new books! Emery loved the "This Little Piggy" finger puppet book that Uncle Steve and Aunt Char got for her. She thought it was hilarious! She wanted Uncle Steve to read it, too! Playing with her new MagnaDoodle with her cousin Zach. Poppa got the bowl of M&Ms so Emery would be still for a picture! She was very sweet and shared with everyone! Aunt Allie, Vanna, and silly Uncle DJ! Uncle Steve was trying to get Emery to laugh, so he threw some M&Ms up in the air!! It made everyone else laugh...she was totally shocked! A little later in the party, she went a got a little handful of M&Ms and threw them in the air! Thanks, Uncle Steve! After presents, it was time for pizza! Emery loves pizza!! Just like Mommy and Daddy... Finally, the best part...cake! She looks so freaked out by the candle! We gave her the Elmo from the top of her cake and she loved it! I think it was made from that moldable chocolate and she had eaten both of his legs before we knew it! It was even nice enough outside that we could go out and swing...one of her favorite things! Daniel took the next two days off of work which was so nice! Her actual birthday was on Monday, so we tried to do as many of her favorite things as we could. The first thing she did was play with the confetti balloons! Then she played with some of her new toys from the party! She *loves* orange juice so she definitely got some that morning! Chocolate chip pancakes, blueberries, and blackberries for our sweet birthday girl! And then a few more presents for her to open. She got some of those Gymboree bubbles {the BEST!} and she loved popping them. They land and don't pop right away, so she could walk around and pop a bunch of them. That afternoon we went to the park! She did lots of swinging and sliding! Then we went out for one of her favorite dinners...chips, guacamole, and a cheese quesadilla. She loved seeing the fish! This girl has no fear. She stuck her hand right in the water! Back at home for some cake and ice cream! And her first time with some sidewalk chalk! Her last present was a baby stroller. She's giving her baby her paci. The next day, we went to an indoor playground and she tried the giant inflatable slide for the first time! I think we all went down it at least 20 times. That afternoon, we played with more of her new toys. And played outside some more! The birthday fun lived on for a few days! She loved playing with these tissue paper pom poms! It was too cute. And just like that, another year is gone. It went by so, so fast. It was full of so much joy, but I wish it would slow down just a little. We love our angel so, so much and are so thankful for the incredible blessing of being her mommy and daddy!

Let the kids be the very best Pokemon Master with this Pokemon/Pokeball Printable! Fairly simple craft, just download the pokeball PDF here. It's A4 size, PDF file so prepare your printer paper setting to A4 size if needed. Step 1: Cut out the pokeball parts. Step 2: Let's start off with the cover of the pokeball. Take part A and fold the flaps inwards (towards the white piece behind). Step 3: Put glue on the outer side of the flaps. Step 4: Stick part B onto part A. This step has to be done carefully and slowly. We're done with the cover. Now it's time to make the insides and the bottom part of the pokeball. Step 5: Cut out part C and fold the flaps inwards (towards the white side) Step 6: Put glue on the inside of the flaps (the ones facing inwards towards the blank part). Place and align part D onto C. Stick the flaps of part C so that it's like it's holding onto part D. You're done with the bottom pocket! Step 7: Stick the last part E onto the back to give the printable some gradient-like orb (and also to cover the flaps). And you're done! Oh, and one last thing, should the cover not able to cover over the pocket, try trimming the sides of the bottom pocket a little. I did this piece with matte paper. Not the best kind of paper. Normal paper works fine. Use glossy paper to give the pokeball an extra shine! Download the pokemon set 1 here. Download pokemon set 2 here.
