One of the things I seem to be unable to resist pinning on Pinterest or saving to my files are instances when an object that is meant to rest on the floor, is supported by hanging from the ceiling. ( I tried to word that in a way that ruled out all hanging lights, plants and any other usua

( Before I go into the details of this new house I'd like to welcome any new visitors who may be arriving from "Driving with the Top Down". Please enjoy visiting the archives and checking out all the work that I have posted here... thank you for coming! ) Now to the details of this house... this one is one of the larger sculptures that I've built. I had found this patch of moss clinging to a cliff area and it begged for a house to be built here, so I did! It took me 4 days just to collect all the stones and bring them to the site... there were no stones at all in this area so they all were gathered from a stream bed that was about a half a mile away. The house took many more days to build. The window circle alone took me a whole day. The porch "roof" is a lovely fungus I found on a fallen log on the trail in. My favourite memories however were of the two visitors who kept me company over the several days... a tiny chipmunk who would eat out of my hand, and a sweet porcupine who stayed all day for two days. The first day she was up on the cliff just above where the upper room is on this house, and the second day she sat about 3 feet away from me and nibbled some lettuce from my sandwich. Then she had a nap ! I was delighted and honoured that she trusted me so much. I hoped she would be there on my third day, but I saw her on my hike in to this site and she was high up in a birch tree nibbling on tender leaves. I could swear that she winked at me as I wished her a good day. This house was also special because it was built just off a semi-popular hiking trail. A few people have reported to me that they had found it and it gave them such a thrill to see this structure where none had existed a few weeks before. I have heard that it fell down a few weeks ago. I may have to go back and re-create something else with all those stones... we shall see. Meanwhile, it remains a fond favourite of mine and the hikers who happened to find it.
