Wish you all a great Sunday! Today I was painting my nails with one of the nudes of OPI from their Brazil Collection, which is just released in February. Then I was like, wait a minute, this one reminds me of another pretty nude which I just happened to review... So I snapped a few photos to show you that. Meet OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around (I always find the names of their polishes so much fun). OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around for Brazil Collection, in natural light I really like Brazil Collection, which is full of gorgeous cremes to wear all year around. You can find all the shades swatched at PolishAholic. My choices are Live.Love.Carnaval, Next Stop Bikini Zone, Taupe-less Beach and Where did Suzi's Man-go and Don't Bossa Nova Me Around. I am trying hard not to get more of these though. OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around for Brazil Collection, in natural light Don't Bossa Nova Me Around has some pink and even lavender in the mix to brighten up your nails and avoids them from looking dull. I really like the formula too. It is a little thick but if you like you can even get along with just one coat, which is really rare for such a light shade. And one more bonus, it is in no ways streaky. OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around for Brazil Collection, with flash So here is the surprise of this post, OPI's new shade Don't Bossa Nova Me Around looks similar to the new Spring/Summer Nude of Tom Ford, Sugar Dune! Do you remember how much I was in love with that shade? Check out the review post to see that I haven't found anything remotely close in my mini(!) nail polish stash. Well, things change, take a look at it yourself... Comparison in natural light: OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around vs. Tom Ford Sugar Dune They are not dupes but certainly they are very close. A lovely reader Siri Lovise Eliassen asked me to find a dupe for Sigar Dune. I can happily say that you can go with this $7 bottle if you are reluctant to invest your $$$s on Mr.Ford's Sugar Dune. As for the differences, OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around is slightly lighter (whiter) and slightly cooler, which tells me, some of you who found TF one to be not very flattering (especially on lighter skin tones) might find OPI to be a better match. Carefully I have to write one more thing here, I do prefer OPI DBNMA's formula and opaqueness to TF's SD. Just saying. Comparison with flash: OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around vs. Tom Ford Sugar Dune Final thoughts: I am loving OPI's Brazil Collection and one of the shades I do enjoy very much at the moment is happened to be very close to Tom Ford's Sugar Dune, which was the favorite nail polish from his Spring/Summer Lip/Nail Collection. Are you eyeing any of the polishes from OPI Brazil Collection?
Happy Mani Monday everyone! I'm excited to bring to you the next great collection from OPI, the Washington D.C. collection for Fall/Winter 2016! Actress and fashion icon Kerry Washington has joined the OPI family as a Creative Ambassador recently and co-designed this collection with Cofounder and Creative Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. There are 12 regular shades and three limited edition colors, all crèmes save one that has a slight pearl shimmer, in dramatic and sophisticated tones. Let's jump in! Press Sample Image via OPI CIA = Color Is Awesome is a dusky blue teal crème. This applied evenly and was really pigmented. This is two coats. I didn't have any staining with this shade when I wore it as well, which is great. Freedom of Peach is a soft, warm peachy orange crème. The formula was great and I got full coverage in two coats. Inside The ISABELLEtway is one of the limited edition "bonus" colors, a caramel malt brown crème. This formula is epicly good, basically a one coater! I used two as usual though. Kerry Blossom is another limited edition shade, a dark plummy purple crème. Dries darker than it appears in the bottle, but not too dark. This is two coats, but you may need three if you're a stickler for very thin coats. "Liv" in the Gray is the last limited edition polish, a dark grey crème with a tinge of green. This is an amazing one coat wonder! I used two coats like I always do though. Madam President is a vivid magenta pinky red crème. Another fabulous formula, not too thick or thin. Almost a one coater, but two layers covered 100%. Never A Dulles Moment is an interesting yellow crème, kind of sunshiney mustardy. OPI describes it as a "curry yellow". This was a tiny bit streaky on two coats, so I used three. It was better than I expected though for a yellow! OPI By Popular Vote is a rich magenta berry-ish red crème. This one also had a great formula, opaque in two even coats. Pale To The Chief is a "nearly nude" light beige with a very soft pearl finish. The first and second coats kinda pulled up the polish if I went over my strokes too much, so I recommend using a good amount of polish on your brush and doing the three stroke method. The third coat evened everything out for full coverage. Shh...It's Top Secret! is a deep, dark espresso brown crème. This had an ok formula, I think you might need three coats if you do thinner layers than I do, but I used two. Squeaker of The House is a cool, chocolate mousse brown crème. This almost has a slight purple tinge to it which is neat. This went on smooth and easy, almost a one coater but again I used two. Stay Off The Lawn!! is a lush rainforest green crème. Excellent pigmentation and formula, a one coater! I used two here. Suzi - The First Lady of Nails is a gorgeous olive green crème. Another awesome one, two coats. I love that there are two greens in this collection! We The Female is a dark garnet red crème. I feel like a broken record, but this one is great too! Two easy, pigmented coats. Yank My Doodle is a warm "tawny copper" crème. Another super great formula, only two coats. Dat name tho! This collection will be available in August wherever OPI is sold, such as Ulta stores, Sally Beauty Supply, and professional salons. They retail for around $10 each. What do you think of this collection? If you're a crème fan, these are sure to be a dream come true for you! The formulas are seriously almost all amazing, the viscosity is excellent, neither thick or thin, and flowed on the nail like butter. I'm super impressed with this collection, even though the colors might not be groundbreaking in terms of uniqueness, they're all welcome to my stash! **EDIT: If you're looking for swatches of the two Ulta exclusives for this collection, see my review HERE! ❤ Kellie The products mentioned were provided for an honest review.
Hey Dolls I won a couple OPI polishes from @opicanada on Instagram the other day! It was four of their favorites from the Hawaii Collection. I already owned two of them and had previously swatched them (Suzy Shops and Island Hops and Is Mai Tai Crooked?), but that's ok, I will give them away to friends or maybe do a little give-away on my blog. The other two are Aloha from OPI and Just Lanai-ing around and they are beautiful shades. Just Lanai-ing Around is a stunning mauve creme, with the slightest shimmer (only visible in direct sunlight). This shade is so beautiful, and perfect for Fall (even though this collection came out in Spring). Aloha from OPI is a gorgeous bright coral creme. The formula was super great for coral (I usually have tons of streaks with corals). I used two thin coats. Thanks to OPICanada for these four polishes! It was so fun to win something!
9/04/2016 Day At The Beach...O.P.I Taupe-less Beach Nail Lacquer Recently, It's been one typhoon after another, with little bursts of sunshine, and then followed by waves of massive clouds; this sporadic weather has put my swatching activities on temporary stand-down. O.P. I's Taupe-less Beach is a neutral/slightly cool, muted, taupe-grey with a hint of lilac-mauve, qith a creme finish. The lilac-mauve undertone gives the polish its uniqueness, and makes the shade work in Summer as well as all the other seasons. Upon first application, I remembered how sublime the formula is. Creamy, opaque, and flawless, you can stop at one coat, but I'm gluttonous, and applied two. Taupe-less Beach is a lovely polish that gives your manicure an edgy sophistication. A very pretty polish indeed. on 9/04/2016 Share this! Tags Nail Polish, O.P.I Newer Post Newer Post Older Post Older Post

Hi everyone! I'm a little behind on swatching, but it's been so long since I've done a Throwback Thursday post that I'm going to play "hookie" and do one anyway. I love wearing my oldies. OPI's My Private Jet is a favorite among collectors and if we were going to do a history of polish it would definitely be more than a foot note. It originally made it's debut as a part of the OPI Night Brights collection released in 2007. It was a charcoal holo and it's funny to think about it now how rare black holos were when there are tons of them around now. Anyways, all of a sudden people were finding My Private Jets that looked very different from the original. The newer one was more brown, but holo was scattered and not really there and some even had a blue flash. I don't know what OPI was thinking, but the color of My Private Jet has changed at least 3 times. The polish is now core and I'm not even sure what it looks like now. I'm just glad I was able to get an original! And without further ado, the original My Private. This is 3 coats. Do you have My Private Jet? What reformulated polish do you wish they'd change back?
I hope you guys had a good (long) weekend! DBF and I went up to Canada for a short visit. It was mostly time spent in the car, but we saw bo...
OPI La Paz-itively Hot Matte with one coat Color Club top coat, no flash I was originally going to just add these pictures into my Polish of the Week: OPI La Paz-itively Hot Matte post, however... THIS POLISH IS STINKING GORGEOUS WITH A SHINY TOP COAT. GO DO IT NOW. OK... so, anyways, this really is a stunning polish with a shiny top coat. The shiny coat magnifies the sparkle in the polish and also adds a duochrome-like blue flash to the polish that wasn't there before. I walked outside to get the mail while wearing this and could not believe how hot this looked. OPI La Paz-itively Hot Matte with one coat Color Club top coat, with flash As for how this compares to the original LPH, I think it's actually a brighter pink, with a more pronounced flash of blue shimmer. I like the original LPH, but I don't think the color is as saturated as LPH Matte with shiny top coat. They both are hot pink with a bit of blue shimmer though, so they are probably pretty similar for the average polish user. I no longer own the original, otherwise I would do a comparison shot. I really like this color matte, just the way OPI intended it to be, but from now on, I am going to have a hard time deciding whether to wear it matte or shiny!
