Sun Gold Batch 002 contains notes of herbal juniper berry and luxurious orange leaf absolute from France. A new top note of precious Yakusugi wood essential oil from Mandy Aftel’s collection of perfumer’s botanicals pairs beautifully with the mysteriously velveteen earthy base of mitts attar, a unique distillate of baked clay from India Sun Gold was created from a few different sources of inspiration. The first being a deceptively simple gin cocktail (aren’t all the best ones this way?) called the Sun Gold Zinger. The second inspiration was the scent of grassy/citrusy gooseberry-like Sauvignon Blanc - my favorite wine aromatic. And the third was an atmospheric phenomenon that always fills my spirit with awe. Do you know the moment during a storm when the sky is still dark and forbidding but somehow the sun has broken through and illuminated everything in its golden glow except for that charcoal grey sky? That moment is Sun Gold. 30ml Jackie began her blending practice in the world of mixology after graduating with a degree in fine art from the San Francisco Art Institute. She garnered acclaim around the world with original, award-winning cocktails. It was the chance purchase of a perfumer’s memoir from a small bookstore in Paris in 2012 that changed the trajectory of her career towards the ancient art of perfumery. Jackie found that the languages of mixology and perfumery were not-so-distant cousins, and her knack for creating delicious cocktails translated well into perfume making. She has studied with master natural perfumer, Mandy Aftel since 2013. Each perfume of de Kloka is hand-blended and bottled with care by Jackie in Northern California.
