Christmas it`s just around the corner and I still have some patterns to share...!!! The incredible thing is that I will not be able to share them all before Christmas Day, so I have to keep them for next year... crazy, right? Anyway, today we have some colourful trees... They are easy to crochet and you start from the top to end with the trunk. WHAT YOU NEED small amounts of DK yarns : it can be variegated or metallic or traditional yarns. 4mm hook scissors/yarn needle blocking board/pins/white glue or stiffening glue/brush/bowlThe pattern is written following the US crochet terminology. PATTERN Choose your yarn and make a slip knot on your hook, then 5ch. Row 1: wrap yarn twice around hook, insert tip in first chain and work 3Tr, turn. Row 2: 4ch and 2Tr in same st, skip two sts, 3tr in top of 4ch, turn. [TIP : when working in top of 4ch, try to work under the bump of the chain : in this way you avoid to enlarge the st too much!] Row 3: 4ch and 2Tr in same st, 3Tr in space between shells, 3Tr in top of 4ch, turn. Row 4: 4ch and 2Tr in same st, (3Tr in space between shells) twice, 3Tr in top of 4ch, turn. Row 5: 4ch and 2Tr in same st, (3Tr in space between shells) 3 times, 3Tr in top of 4ch, turn. Row 6: sl st in first 6sts, 4ch, 3Tr, 4ch, sl st in last 6sts, fasten off! Weave in all ends. If you need to stiffen your tree(s), pin it (them) with the RS facing the board. Then brush a solution made with water and white glue in equal measures on the WS of your tree(s). Let it dry completely before use. If you have, instead, the stiffening glue simply spray this one on the back of your tree and let it dry! IDEAS Attach some yarn to the top of the tree, so that you can use it as an ornament or as a parcel tag! If you made more trees, what do you think about a bunting? Very easy ! I decided to made a bunting with 9 trees and joined them with a basic chain : 70ch, sl st in top of first tree, (20ch, sl st in top of next tree) 8 times, 70ch, fasten off. You can even decide to join two trees together knotting them with contrasting yarn ! You can even join 3 trees together to have a bigger ornament! This time I`ve been using some metallic yarns and joined the trees using some baker`s twine : simply knot the trees together and make a lovely bow. Trim the excess of twine and ta-dah! Remember to add some twine to the top of the ornament, too!! If you have the patience, you may join more trees together using the join-as-you-go method and obtain a decorative centre piece for your table!!! Even coasters! You need to join as you go 6 trees together keeping the tops towards the centre of the coaster. If you are not a fan of the join as you go method, you may simply sew together the trees! This Macaroni and Hamburger soup is chock full of delicious veggies and beef. The broth is tomatoey and delcious. Kids and grown up love this soup equally. Serve with some crusty French bread an delicious butter. Perfect to make on a weekend and use for lunches during the week.
