Ah, Utopia… that magical and seemingly impossible paradise where everything is perfect and we all live happily ever after. Not to seem like a curmudgeon or anything, but, please. Get a grip. The concept of an attainable Utopia has been around for a long …
I love the way we created our class agreements this year. First, students participated in a carousel activity where they went around the room to each poster. They had a pile of small post it notes that they used to respond to the questions- A Great Classmate, IS-DOES-SAYS-DOES NOT... A Terrific Teacher, IS-DOES-SAYS-DOES NOT... A Learner, IS-DOES-SAYS-DOES NOT... A Classroom of Learners, IS- LOOKS LIKE- FEELS... Then each group of 4 students looked at all of the responses and came up with their own class agreements. Finally, we put them all together and this is what they came up with. I think they did a great job!

As promised, I wanted to share with you how we started our study on fables and folk tales this week! We started on Thursday since we were taking benchmark assessments earlier in the week, so we’ve only just begun, but we’re off to a great start! First, I made this anchor chart to help my students understand the similarities and…
www.davidrironsjrphotography.com I hope you are not getting tired of Mount Rainier shots? I have so many from the numerous trips I made this past August, that I want to share them. This year was fantastic for wildflowers with so many flowering at the same time! This was shot on that morning where the mountain was covered in fog and a list mist had been falling. All of the flowers were covered in dew drops, and there just seemed to be a sense of peace while walking the trails above Paradise. This is three exposures merged and tonemapped in Photomatix. I did a little "Dodge and Burn" in Photoshop as well as added a slight vignette in Lightroom. Thank you for your views, comments and faves! I appreciate them. Please do not use my images on blogs or websites without my permission. All images are available for license or sale. Thank you.

It's debutante season for mid-century London's high society and Life magazine was on the scene to capture all the tea drinking and social climbing at its finest. I found this set of undated photos in the magazine's archives which follows a group of well-to-do English debutantes as they attended the

I fondly remembered the old Victoria magazine's features on gardening and decided to dig them out and see what images I could come up with. I have tore out these features and long since thrown the magazines away. If I knew the the date of the feature I have posted it here as the source, otherwise I don't know the date. source: scanned image from Victoria magazine This was from the magazine and it was also the cover of the magazine. If ever I get to visit England I would love to see a cottage like this. Isn't this rose bush magnificent! source scanned image from Victoria magazine Victoria magazine often took us to England. I just this year have a rose garden. You don't have to spend a lot of money to have roses. I picked these roses up at Walmart last year. I would get a rose every week with the groceries. They only cost around $4 and some change a piece. I have four rose bushes and they have really been beautiful this week. Right out the back door in a shrub a mother robin has taken up residence to raise her young. Not wanting to disturb the nest, I stuck the camera above my head and aimed and caught a peak at the beautiful eggs.
