Untitled 2, Untitled 7, Untitled 9 & Untitled 10 Quadriptych, 2019 by Francisco Larios Lacquer, Acrylic, oil, and gold leaf on MDF Deep Individual size: 50 cm H x 50 cm. W x 1.5 cm D Overall size: Size: 50 cm H x 200 cm W x 1.5 cm D One of a kind * Francisco Larios’ works are done by hand with hundreds of layers of gold leaf. The artist’s goal is to allow the work to age along with the collector, which is why some works will appear unbalanced on the color. Parts of the work will have different tones, burnish spots, or small, soft cracks. Francisco Larios practices painting, open-concept drawing, and the use of software to create two and three-dimensional visual environments. In his imagination, the postmodern condition is achieved in terms that contemporary culture is the starting point for the elaboration of sceneries that manifest the return to sacred references, philosophical themes, and immemorial fabulations. In Larios' work landscape is treated conceptually, sometimes, as space where studies of the dreamlike, the bond between human beings and their surroundings, and the nature of objects develop; in other cases as the practice of graphic representation of mathematical, physical, and musical principles which part from the idea of the horizon as divisive line and as a limit. Larios's production is a poetic, ironic, and reflexive exploration of the state of our relationship with faith, will, and destiny. ____________ Francisco Larios (Guaymas, 1960) lives and works in Monterrey, Nuevo León. He studied design and specialized in Art History by Universidad La Salle, Laguna. Larios participated at the XII Bienal “Rufino Tamayo” and Bienal FEMSA, Mexico City, Mexico; VII Bienal de Cuenca, Ecuador and was awarded the Prize for Painting Acquisition Reseña de la Plástica de Nuevo León. He is a fellow member of Sistema Nacional de Creadores FONCA. His work belongs to public and private collection such as: Museum of Contemporary Art de San Diego, California; Museum of Fine Arts de Houston, Texas; USA, Colección FEMSA, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey (MARCO), Monterrey, Mexico; Museo Rufino Tamayo, Museo Carrillo Gil and Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City, Mexico.

Canadian artist Peter Hoffer (1965) is best known for his landscape paintings. His style has also been compared to the idealistic landscapes of the 19th-century landscape painter John Constable. After a trip to Paris, Hoffer began to experiment with surface textures in the landscape. Thus, he began to sand and grind the layers of the painted surface. Subtly applied drops of paint seem to pay homage to the 20th century art movement abstract expressionism. Intrigued by the early 18th century French Salon, where artists re-embellished their unsold works, Hoffer completes his paintings by applying a coat of Dammar varnish and a coat of epoxy to create a reflective dome surface. This gives depth to his landscapes. Luminous skies set by the outline of trees, the drama of light and shadow. The viewer has to get closer, change their perspective and look longer to overcome reflections so that they can see the details glitter beneath the surface. "I wanted to do the landscape in a manner in which it is personified. Where the tree becomes the individual, even playing on some clichés." While admiring the beauty of the work, we are aware that a modern artist asks the viewer to consider the process and act of creation itself. Intriguing is an image that is both classic and modern. Peter Hoffer's work is widely praised and collected. Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec and the German consulate in Toronto are in possession of his work. The famous Hôtel Le Reine Elizabeth in Montreal also has a work by Hoffer hanging in one of the public spaces. Hoffer studied painting and sculpture at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto and the University of Guelph, where he obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1993. After a stay in New York City, he studied sculpture at Concordia University in Montreal, graduating in 1996 with a master’s in fine art.
