Den meisten KMU im Land fehlt es an qualifiziertem Personal für die Verwaltung ihrer Aktivitäten. Infolgedessen sind sie nicht in der Lage, Finanzinformationen in der gleichen Qualität zu veröffentlichen wie grosse Unternehmen und können daher keine geprüften Jahresabschlüsse vorlegen, was eine der wesentlichen Voraussetzungen für den Zugang zu Krediten von Finanzinstituten ist. Die Finanzinstitute haben wenig Einfluss auf die Finanzierung von KMU, da die meisten KMU-Eigentümer oder -Manager häufig einbehaltene Gewinne oder Gewinne (Selbstfinanzierung) und Mittel von Verwandten/Freunden zur Finanzierung ihres Unternehmens als Finanzierungsquelle nutzen. Eine weitere interessante Erkenntnis in Bezug auf die hohe Ausfallquote bei der Rückzahlung der aufgenommenen Kredite ist die angespannte Liquiditätslage dieser KMU, die vor allem auf Schwierigkeiten bei der Verwaltung der Aussenstände der befragten KMU zurückzuführen ist. Ermutigung von Finanzinstituten (Banken und Nichtbanken) zur Einrichtung von Factoring-Diensten, Durchsetzung des Gesetzes über Kreditauskünfte und schliesslich Bereitstellung von Steueranreizen für Banken, die Kredite an KMU vergeben, um andere zu ermutigen, dasselbe zu tun. Die Analyse sollte für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen hilfreich sein.
