They have, when in their own shape, a red cap, called a cohullen druith, usually covered in feathers. If this is stolen, they can not again go down under the waves. She's very close to finished. Just minor cleanup here and there. I've decided to stop here because this is always how I envisioned her. I bought this statue over two years ago when I left my baby at Texas A&M for the first time. I stared at the statue for a whole year, and then after I dropped my son off for his second year at school, I started working on her. And then I got stalled. This year, after my son left for his third year, I decided it was time to finish her. I've been working on her steadily since August. Finally, there's not much left to do except find her permanent home. She took a very long time to do, and it was a lot more work than I thought it would be when I started, but she was a joy to work on from start to finish and I never minded the time it took.
