Last week I shared the craft projects I entered into the county fair in August. One of the items was this crocheted walker bag. Several times over the past few years I have looked for a crochet walker bag pattern, but I have never found one that I liked. Instead of using a traditional walker bag pattern, I decided to combine two purse patterns that I liked, and then I added straps so the purse could hang on a walker. I used the houndstooth stitch from this Houndstooth Tote, and I used the basic design of this Simple Crochet Handbag. I like how the finished product turned out! Edited to add: If you would like to see how I made the straps for the walker bag, you can check out the comment thread on this facebook post. I have uploaded several pictures to show the straps and buttons inside of the walker bag. Meet my travel walker, Henry. I'm naming my assistive devices now because that makes things more fun. :) Henry is a new walker that I purchased in preparation for our big trip in April. Usually when we travel I don't bring a walker, but for a trip that long and tiring I knew it would not be wise for me to go without one. Henry folds compactly, making it much easier to fit in our van along with all of our suitcases, my wheelchair, and my other medical supplies. Henry did not come with a basket, so having a walker bag on our trip was very helpful. It allowed me to easily carry my phone and a few small medical supplies. Meet my inside walker, Cordell. (Bonus points to you if you can figure out why he is named Cordell!) Cordell helps me walk around my home on a daily basis. Cordell doesn't fold compactly for travelling, which is why he stays in the house. My walker bag was originally made to use with Henry, but I like the bag so much that I use it with Cordell too. Do you have a favorite walker bag pattern? If so, I'd love to see it! What have you been doing lately to keep your hands busy?

Subtle textures of this cozy wrap were inspired by the mesmerizing architecture of Florence. The way light and shadow bring to life the intricate marble carvings has left me speechless many times. This pattern is easy and entertaining to knit, as you have a variety of textures to play with as you go. Step-by-step instructions and a video tutorial for bobbles are included in the pattern. Cocoon is knit completely seamless and requires no sewing or grafting. You start working the pattern similarly to a (really wide) bottom-up sweater in the round up to the sleeves. They are added to the body with a provisional cast on. Then, front and back pieces are worked flat separately and joined using three needle bind off. The cocoon is finished off with the sleeve cuffs knit in the round. Recommended yarn: solid, semi-solid or kettle dyed, as it will show more details of the stitch patterns. You can skip using mohair if you wish. Note that it helps the cocoon to hold its shape better.

Hello my dear friends, seriously ~ I am hooked! Hooked on crocheting mini flowers from a pattern I made up this morning and now I just can't seem to want to stop making these tiny blooms. It takes not even 5 minutes to have one done. Right now I have no idea what I am going to use them for but I am sure something will pop into my mind. I first learnt how to crochet when I was 8 or 9 years old in school (yes, in those days we were still taught how to sew, knit, crochet and cook at school, something I think they should bring back, I actually learnt how to sew when I was about 5 years old and my Grandma taught me how to ) and I have always loved to crochet. When I was a teenager I would crochet large doilies or tablecloths and sell them to make a bit of extra pocket money. These days I still like to crochet but nothing too big but I do love making smaller pieces like snowflakes, little hearts or like these little flowers now. Take a look ... ... aren't they just so neat and tiny?! These could be made plain and then you could dye them any color you would like either with food coloring or even Easter egg colors! They could be used to embellish tags or pincushions or anywhere you would like them to be! And you can use them to make these ... ... an old idea with a new twist ... ... instead of using little flowers of paper or book pages you can use these to make your little flowers pins! And because I love to create and I think I am a happier person because of it I would like to share how to make these tiny flowers with you today. I am sharing the instructions two ways ... ...once as a graphic with the crochet symbols and secondly as written instructions as well . How to make a tiny flower ... ... you start off with a magic ring/circle ~ if you don't know how to make a magic circle you can find many videos on 'how to' on the net. There is only one round you need to crochet for this flower ... ... form a magic ring ~ into this ring crochet ... 3 chain stitches, one double crochet, 3 chain stitches, one slip stitch. Repeat this 4 more times ~ making the 5 petals for the flower ~ finishing with a slip stitch. Now just fasten off, tighten the magic ring by pulling the tail of the thread, cut off and you are done with your little flower. I hope my instructions are written so you will be able to make this little flower and now all you have to do is find something you want to embellish with them. I hope you are well and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful and creative day, Karen B.
