I guess it's been quite some time since I shared the last experimental film here. But Kenneth Anger is basically the most popular of the scene, so the need doesn't seem that great. Either way his films are wacky, colorful and have super catchy soundtracks. And they're short! Which is always a plus in this field, most of the times. Rabbit's Moon has quite a weird history - it was shot at Pathe in 1950 on a nitrate negative, but it wasn't completed and released until 1972. It was obviously shot in black and white, then tinted blue with a few lanterna magica pink scenes. It's a really exquisite interpretation of the Pierrot et Colombine story, shot with actors from a mime school. Oh and did I mention the soundtrack is full of delicious pop hits from the 50s and 60s? Literally a dancing film! The costumes are very theatrical and extravagant, but very inspirational nonetheless. So just youtube it, go to a screening if it ever plays or order the DVD ( there's a review with some useful basic info on Anger here) but really do yourself a favor and watch this! ... and tell me this designer dress doesn't fit into the film's universe!
