This Crochet Grandma Cuddles Baby Blanket is absolutely so fun to make and easy to crochet! You will love the…
Wrapped up inside this lovely vintage crochet throw is this: and this: Some friends of mine at church asked if I would take a look at this throw that his grandmother had made for him and try to repair it. He is a Labrador-lover, and his dog apparently loved on this blanket one day while "mom & dad" weren't home. I'm not sure how old the blanket is, my friends are in their mid 50s, so I'm thinking this throw has been around at least 30 years or more especially after looking at the variances in the yarn color in the top picture. I have been procrastinating for about a month to get this done and decided today was the day to git er done. Here is the process I used (and made up as I went along!) Clean the wound, i.e., remove any loose fibers and tie off any loose ends from this: to this: making sure to keep one of the longer loose ends unclipped to tie into. 2. Tie loose end of crochet blanket to yarn that is being used to repair blanket with a sewer's knot: and start crocheting with pattern as much as possible. This will be difficult to do and somewhat fiddly since your tension and yarn size may be different from the original. Make sure to slip stitch wherever needed as you crochet to close the gaps up as you go. Your ending repair will not be perfect, but much better than a hole in your much loved blankie that tends to get bigger and bigger! Here are the holes and their before and after shots: and Happy crocheting! ~Penny

It's a boy! My (husband's) niece is having a boy in a week or so and while this isn't her only gift, it is my favorite one! I'm only 26 and certainly not old enough to be a great aunt (ugh!) but my husband's sisters are much older than. Besides, nothing makes me happier than new babies in the family!!! This is such a lovely blanket and the best part is that it comes together so quickly! I made this one with the following items: 1 yard minky fabric 1 1/2 yards patterned fabric Scissors Pins Sewing machine Coordinating thread Place both cuts of fabric back to back with the patterned fabric hanging over by 2-3 inches on each side. You can leave less for a thinner border. Whatever amount you leave will be double the thickness of what you will see. Fold the patterned fabric in evenly with the minky fabric. Then fold in again over the minky fabric and pin into place. This will create the framed blanket look. I fold the corners like this (above) so that they look neat and even. After pinning the entire perimeter, sew two seams for a finished look at the end. It still needs to be washed and ironed before being wrapped but I think it came out pretty well. All in all it only took about 30 minutes of nap time. Plenty of time left to bake a loaf of bread and clean the pantry out ;) What kind of homemade items do you give as gifts for babies?

And that's when I was in doubt, and I chose to simplify and create this Simple Crochet Baby Blanket. So take a closer look at this stitch, it's a basic Half Double Crochet in US Terms. What I decided to do is work in between each stitch, instead of just under the top two loops. A half double crochet is made by yarning over once, inserting your hook into a stitch, yarning over and pulling through, then yarning over and pulling through all three loops left on your hook.
