Against a tasty backdrop of pastries, fruit, and vegetables, photographers Pierre Javelle and Akiko Ida have created a series of humorous dioramas that depict miniature people going about their daily lives in an edible world. Titled MINIMIAM, a play on words that marries miniature and “yummy” (miam in French), the project has been ongoing since 2002 and was inspired by the married couple’s profession as commercial food photographers. “We’re both food photographer in our daily work, and we’re both quite crazy about cooking, eating and everything about food,” says Ida. Another year, another 365 days of miniature glory from Tatsuya Tanaka (previously). On a daily basis for the past seven years, the prolific Japanese miniature artist has shared unique images of imagined scenes created using the simple combination of everyday objects, tiny model humans, and his boundless imagination. (For anyone keeping track, that’d be over 2,500 dioramas.) Crinkle-cut potato chips become desert sand dunes, spiral-bound notebooks delineate swimmers poised to compete, and books filled with sticky notes create an urban skyscraper scene. More
Since 2011, Tatsuya Tanaka has been creating creative and playful miniature dioramas. Not only has he not shown any sign of stopping since we last wrote about him, but he seems to be getting better and better!

The amount of detailing, coupled with the size of these drawings really make them an impressive feat. British Artist Liam Hipple thrives in the world of the tiny. Urban architectural drawings that in beauty, stand side by side with the real structure. A lot of these drawings are WIP (work in progress), to track the meticulous work of the fineliner and the tireless artists that wields it, are engaged in. Most of the drawings below are in black and white, with one that is transitioning from this to a color one. They are all beautiful, but for different reasons, the first two are my favourite. Have a look at them and see what you think. For more of Hipple's work here on DesignStack, press this LINK. Chartres Cathedral.
