Large and impressive 1930s Art Deco blue mirror clock by Vedette. The clock originates from France, quite a weighty piece. Chromed bezel and clock hands with the makers name centre dial. We believe the base is chromed steel, which is in good order but does show signs of age. The mirror and the chrome work on the dial is in excellent condition, particularly the mirror which is free from foxing spots and misting. We've had this clock serviced by an horologist and so comes to you in good working condition.

Modernist drawing of a nude by Emily Farnham (American, 1912-2004). Signed and dated lower right corner. 1949. Image, 22”H x 16”W. Measures 32" H x 24" W x 2" D. Shipped sans glass. Born in Kent, Ohio she studied at Cleveland School of Art and earned her MA and PhD degrees at Ohio State University. She studied with Hans Hofmann in Provincetown and New York. Dr. Farnham stated that Hofmann had the greatest influence her life. In 1980, Dr. Farnham moved to Provincetown, after a prominent career as a university professor, artist and author. Dr. Farnham taught at Kent State University, East Carolina University and E.C.U.'s European Studies Center in Bonn, Germany. She has taught over 8000 students though-out her career. She has also had many shows of her works, including a 2002 retrospective show at the Berta Walker Gallery in Provincetown. Dr. Farnham had an extensive art library and authored two books, Charles Demuth; Behind the Laughing Mask, which received a National Book Award nomination and Hofmann - Abstraction As Plastic Expression and Notes Made In Hofmann's Classes. less
An important French Mid-Century Modern thick pile carpet in wool known as "1930" in a Cubist Design by Sonia Delaunay. Documentation: Monogrammed SD at corner of carpet. There is a cloth tag on rear stamped: Edited par ARTCURIAL, Signed "S Delauney" and numbered #35/100. Sonia Delaunay was the first to adapt the principles of Analytical Cubism and Collage to textile design endorsing her husband theories of simultaneous contrasts. Delauney had discovered the rich color palette of the Fauves and like the Futurists sought to convey a sense of speed and movement in her work. The original piece was designed for the living room of Dr. Charles Viard c. 1925, who was Delauney's doctor and an avid art collector. This rare piece was edited by ArtCurial in Paris, circa 1970 and is signed by Delaunay on the reverse. Sonia Delauney was part of an early 20th century international movement in the arts that saw the fine and decorative arts as one whole process. This movement crystallized itself in the German "Bauhaus" school, beginning in 1919, where teaching was unitary between fine art, performance and designing industrial products. These approaches were revolutionary in thought and action. Sonia Delauney designed whole environments that incorporated painting, furniture, textiles, fashion and art. Her processes are illustrated in the "1930" carpet where she uses bold, dynamic colors against bold, geometric forms. The original of this carpet is in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. In 1970 an edition of 100 carpets was authorized and signed by her. This carpet is from that edition and they are now rare to find. Modernist vintage pair of armchairs model Revers, which was designed by Andrea Branzi for Cassina, Italy 1993. Andrea Branzi (1938) Italian architect and designer. After getting his degree 1966 he founded Archizoom Associati with Paolo Deganello and Massimo Morozzi. In the 1980s he began the co - work with the Memphis Group. His works are pieces in permanent museum collections. The armchairs were made of metal grey lacquered and laminated beechwood and featuring a beautiful curved back with armrests. They run up as they flow over into the backrest. Rounded edges with a beautiful warm light brown tone give the model Revers a sculptural look. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Classical or Contemporary interior design. Labeled by the company Cassina underneath the seat. Very good condition ready to live! This excellent condition picture frame is made out of one solid piece of burl and the natural color combined with the stunning shape is simply gorgeous. Explaining why burl looks the way it does is made much easier by looking at this rare early 20th century frame. On the outside you can perfectly see all the individual roots that grow inside the bottom of the trunk of the tree and that together make the surface of cut burl look so amazingly beautiful. We have never seen an antique and expensive piece of solid burl used and cut in this way, but the result is both unique and extremely decorative. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, all 4 chairs have natural, distressed edges from age & wear which we have enhanced giving them a gorgeous patinated look then added a fresh coat of lacquer. A couple of small holes in the vinyl have been repaired. They can be used as is, but most will want to reupholster. They are priced accordingly.
