Mi reseña Este libro fue mi primer acercamiento a una historia con una leyenda coreana y debo de decir que lo disfruté muchísimo. Desde los inicios de capítulo desborda ternura y despierta las ganas de correr a abrazar a tu Halmoni y absorber de ella todo lo que puedas. Los capítulos son bastante cortos y digeribles para niños de 8 años en adelante, un punto a favor en un libro middle grade. En cuanto a la pluma de la autora, me pareció muy acertada la manera en la que está entretejida la historia ya que para los niños se va planteando cada día como una aventura que los mantiene expectantes y para los adultos es una historia que provoca añoranza, que te hace querer regresar al núcleo familiar y a la vez seguir acompañando a la familia de Lily. La historia en sí es sencilla. Una mujer y sus hijas vuelven a casa después de que la abuela enferma, para estar con ella en sus últimos días. Pero lo que la convierte en una historia entrañable es la personalidad de Halmoni (la abuela). Ella es tan excéntrica, divertida, ocurrente y claro que también es una fanática de la moda y el buen vestir. Con un acento inigualable nos trasladará a su cocina en donde preparará unos platillos que sin duda dan ganas de probar. Esta historia es ideal para aquellos que adoran a sus abuelitos pero también para aquellos que han crecido y que necesitan que se les recuerde ese amor y esa complicidad que nace entre abuelo-nieto y que deja una huella imborrable en cada uno de los que hemos tenido la dicha de convivir con ellos. Pero también es una historia para los llamados "inadaptados", para los que son diferentes y por su peculiaridad son considerados "raros", para ellos y para aquellos que no son entendidos ya que personajes como Lili o su amigo Ricky nos demuestran lo importante que es el respeto, la empatía y el afecto que le profesamos al prójimo. Respecto a la leyenda del tigre, creo que muchas mujeres se van a sentir identificadas con la metáfora de la fuerza, con tenerle miedo a la fiereza de su interior por sentir que será mal vista o que le hará daño a nuestros seres queridos, sin duda da mucho para pensar. Es un libro que recomiendo ampliamente para todos aquellos que aman a sus abuelos, para quienes estén sufriendo una perdida y para todos aquellos que le temen a los estereotipos. Bueno, ese y ver mi nombre en la portada de alguna novela. Aunque por el momento me conformaba con corregir manuscritos. Sin embargo, recibir una oferta de Royal Editions y que Corina Fox, la escritora más influyente del momento, quisiera trabajar conmigo, lo cambio todo... ¡Deseaba aquel puesto con todas mis fuerzas! y estaba dispuesta a hacer cualquier cosa por conseguirlo. La primera, mudarme a Nueva York lo que no sabía es que allí me vería obligada a aceptar un trato injusto a cambio de un viaje al Caribe. Sobre Estafía Yepes Estefanía Yepes es licenciada en Derecho, compagina su actual trabajo con la escritura. Tras aventurarse en el mundo de los "blogs de reseñas" y decidida a aprender un poco más, realizó un curso de Lecturas e informes editoriales y más tarde, otro de Corrección profesional. Actualmente tiene varias novelas publicadas, siendo El último llanto de los delfines su primera en Titania. Mi reseña: El último llanto de los delfines es de esas novelas que te hacen suspirar capítulo tras capítulo, que logra transmitir todas las emociones que están viviendo los protagonistas, que te mantiene prendado a la historia sin necesidad de colmarla de múltiples encuentros sexuales y eso la vuelve más encantadora. El lenguaje que se utiliza a lo largo de la historia es tan pulcro y prolijo que me ha fascinado, es de esos libros que de verdad logran extenderte el vocabulario, lo cual resulta en un plus muy grato. Además de mantener un lenguaje tan limpio y bien cuidado, es un libro que se digiere muy rápido y en ningún momento recae en una lectura pesada por lo que es ideal para cualquiera, así seas un ávido lector o apenas vayas incursionando en el maravilloso mundo de los libros. Considero que este libro en particular, a todos los bloggers, booktubers o bookstagrammers les resultará bastante interesante ya que la vida de Haley gira en torno a una editorial, su trabajo es como correctora y a lo largo de cada capítulo nos encontramos con bastantes datos sobre como es el mundo editorial. La vida de nuestros protagonistas Haley y Owen, a pesar de ser un cliché no recae en excesos y eso ayuda bastante a que la historia se vuelva creíble, que no parezca un cuento de hadas donde solo a unos cuantos les suceden cosas buenas, porque ella es como muchas mujeres de hoy en día que se esfuerzan por cumplir sus metas, que tienen sueños pero que viven con los pies en la tierra, que disfrutan su juventud y su independencia de manera responsable, que saben valorar la amistad y la cuidan como un tesoro, pero sobre todo que se saben capaz y no se rinden a la primera adversidad que se les presenta. Por supuesto que como toda relación tiene sus altibajos y momentos donde se destila la miel más pura y te hace suspirar (cosa absolutamente necesaria en una novela romántica) pero no lo neguemos, a los aficionados a la novela romántica nos encantan estos ingredientes básicos. Entre la historia principal encontraremos breves capítulos de una novela que Haley está “corrigiendo”, que resulta igual de cautivadora y nos ayuda a entender el porqué del título de la novela, cosa que yo nada más no le encontraba relación y me tenía en la duda constante. Otro de los detalles que me gustaron muchísimo es como el cuento de La Bella y la Bestia toma una hermosa asociación entre la relación de Haley y Owen, quienes no son muy diferentes a la mayoría de las parejas que buscan tener su canción, su película o como en este caso su libro especial. En cuanto a los personajes, uno de los que me parecieron más significativos fue Adriana, la amiga de Haley, pues con sus platicas y ocurrencias le brindaba la calma y la cordura que ella necesitaba. El último llanto de los delfines es una novela que indiscutiblemente le recomendaría a todos los lectores que son afines al romance y que saben que una buena historia de amor no necesita estar colmada de encuentros íntimos que hagan que se pierda la esencia de la misma y termina convirtiéndose en una novela erótica. Con esto no quiero que se piense que no me gustan las novelas eróticas, claro que también las disfruto pero últimamente los autores pierden el hilo de la historia y las vuelven tan prosaicas con tal de ensalzar la relación. (...) la verdad era que existían unos labios predestinados a otros, dos engranajes creados para trabajar de forma simultánea durante el resto de sus vidas. Mi opinión Terminar este libro en tiempo record podría suponer muchas cosas pero vamos por partes. En primer lugar, la edición es sumamente amigable para el lector. El tamaño del libro es bueno pero lo que lo hace sumamente agradable y fácil de leer es la letra, tiene el tamaño perfecto con el sentirás que vas leyendo en tiempo record, que la lectura fluye sin ningún problema. En cuanto a la trama, la historia en sí gira en torno a las personas que de alguna manera se ven involucradas en la violencia que impera en Juárez, llámese fotógrafos, periodistas, policías, familiares, etc y viéndolo desde ese punto de vista, la vuelve un tanto interesante. El autor se toma el tiempo de irnos presentando a cada uno de los personajes, sus manías, sus amores e inclusive la manera en la que los llegan a trastocar tantos crímenes con los que tienen que lidiar. La historia no me ha parecido mala y sí me hizo creer que esos personajes podrían ser personas reales que andan por ahí tratando de pescar a delincuentes pero lo que definitivamente me pareció que estaba de más fue haber incluido a Johnny Knoxville y la muerte de ”los tres grandes: Javier Solís, Pedro Infante y Jorge Negrete” pero fuera de eso, me pareció entretenida ya que tiene de todo, inclusive escenas donde el exhibicionismo y el voyerismo se hacen presentes. En general, es una historia en donde se transpira la decadencia, la inmundicia del ser humano y el folklore mexicano, perfecta para los amantes de las novelas policiacas. Ha escrito varios libros que se han traducido a más de veinte idiomas. Mi opinión Antes de hablar de este libro es importante aclarar que es el Hoʻoponopono. El Ho´oponopono es una tradición hawaiana dirigida a la resolución de problemas, basada en la reconciliación y el perdón. Y partiendo de esta breve definición podemos llegar a la conclusión que este libro sin duda dejará algún beneficio para quien desee leerlo. Éste es de esos libros que con solo hojearlos te transmite serenidad. La edición está tan bien cuidada, las ilustraciones son tan bellas y delicadas a la vez, la paleta de colores va a acorde a cada capitulo y el gramaje de las hojas se siente tan resistente que se presta para hacer varias relecturas o inclusive un mapa viajero. En cuanto a la lectura, es un libro con el que hay que darse su tiempo. A pesar de tener tan solo 144 páginas, es un libro que te obliga a leerlo con calma, a reflexionar a lo largo de sus páginas e inclusive a hacer pausas puesto que más de algún tema tratado puede llegar a trastocar al lector de una manera tal que lo obligará a detenerse y respirar. A mí personalmente me ayudó en un momento en el que no encontraba el camino y a través de sus páginas recordé que las cosas no se deben de forzar, que debemos de dejar que la energía fluya y encuentre su cause. Algo que me ha gustado es que la autora habla de Dios como un ser omnipresente y no como una institución y en ningún momento busca adoctrinar o imponer sus creencias. Por el contrario, nos plantea la idea de que creer en él nos aminorará la pesadez de nuestra mente y corazón y de que a veces es bueno creer y encomendarse a la fe sin dejar de tener el timón de nuestra vida. En resumen, un libro con el que entenderemos que ser aprehensivos no siempre es lo mejor, que se puede soltar y a su vez tomar decisiones pero sin sentir culpa o pesar, que a veces la podemos estar pasando muy mal pero en gran medida es porque nosotros mismos nos mantenemos en dicha situación. Un libro que te pone las cartas sobre la mesa y te muestra una manera distinta de vivir. "Cuanto más guarde silencio, cuanto menos eduques y más ames al otro, más se enamoraran de ti". Mi reseña Como ya les he comentado a través de mis redes, yo soy fan de los retellings y que se me diera la oportunidad de leer algo relacionado con Peter Pan me generó muchísima ilusión. Este libro es la primera parte de una trilogía, consta de 21 capítulos, maneja un lenguaje muy sencillo y de fácil comprensión, la secuencia de la narración es continua y solo tiene algunos brincos en el tiempo presentados a manera de recuerdos por lo que no resulta confusa en absoluto. En Wendy Darling obviamente la historia se centra en ella. Conoceremos un poco más de su vida en Londres antes de llegar a Nunca Jamás, de cómo es la dinámica familiar, la relación con sus padres y hermanos, de sus gustos e inclusive del romance que tiene con un chico llamado Booth y del problema que esto le representa, pues al ser de distintas clases sociales no se les permite estar juntos. Una vez que aparece en escena Peter Pan nos daremos cuenta que una gran parte de la historia es fiel a la versión de Disney y esto lejos de disgustarme, ¡me encantó! Me hizo recordar cuando pasaba la tarde viendo el VHS de Peter Pan (sí, en mi época existían los VHS :p). ¿Por qué les comento que no me disgusto? Porque la historia es tan fiel que pueden pasar unas 100 páginas o más y hacernos dudar de donde está el recuento, inclusive podríamos llegar a pensar que no se trata de un recuento sino de una historia a la que únicamente se le agregaron más detalles, que se tomaron el tiempo de contar un poco más de lo que en la película pasaba de largo pero no es así. La Autora supo enlazar muy bien la historia que la gran mayoría conocemos y sutilmente irnos adentrando en su versión hasta quedar totalmente sumergidos en un Nunca Jamás oscuro y lleno de secretos. Aquí conoceremos más a fondo la dinámica de Peter Pan y los niños perdidos, de cómo vivían y se organizaban esos muchachos. La manera en la que Oakes nos presenta su comportamiento es bastante realista (hasta cierto punto) ya que tenían nulo interés en horarios, en la higiene, en los modales, un comportamiento primitivo básicamente. Además nos daremos cuenta que Wendy en realidad no fue bien recibida, que en primera instancia a nadie le agrado su presencia en la isla y que inclusive la pusieron en peligro en múltiples ocasiones pero ella al ser una señorita bien educada en el viejo Londres y que además se encontraba embelesada con Peter, supo sobrellevar la situación y ganarse un poco de aprobación de algunos de los niños perdidos. Otro de los temas de los que se nos brinda más información es la relación que Campanita tiene con Peter, el porqué es la única hada en la Isla, el porqué de ese rechazo hacía Wendy y de su comportamiento tan hostil, sinceramente daban ganas de saltar al libro y abrazar a Campanita L A lo largo del libro nos podemos ir percatando que hay algo oculto, que algo no anda bien, que los niños van olvidando poco a poco y que en esa historia se respira maldad y no precisamente cuando los piratas están cerca… En resumen, un libro lleno de aventura y oscuridad, donde odiarás a quien amabas y amarás a quien odiabas. Mi Reseña En Adiós, París a lo largo de 25 capítulos iremos conociendo la vida de Grace, una mujer adulta con la vida “resuelta”. Con un lenguaje sencillo nos adentraremos un poco al mundo de la música, especialmente al del violonchelo, conoceremos un poco el proceso creativo de este instrumento tan interesante y todo a través de los ojos y las manos de Grace. Creo que el tema de la música fue lo que rescató al libro y me hizo querer continuar. Afortunadamente este libro es autoconclusivo y digo afortunadamente porque para mí fue de esos libros para pasar la tarde pero que no sobresalen, que a los días se olvidan. Sinceramente yo esperaba mucho más porque con la sinopsis te puedes imaginar que va a haber un montón de drama pero la protagonista se me hizo tan plana que ni el hecho de que tuviera una relación con un hombre casado me hizo sentir algo, ni coraje ni pena ni nada. Sé que hubo quien amó esta historia pero en mi caso me faltó muchísimo para llegar siquiera a decir que es bueno, se me hizo una historia insulsa y ya. Para ser sincera, a mi no me gusta ser tan desconsiderada con mis opiniones respecto a los libros porque se me hace como una falta de respeto para el autor pero es que aquí si me sentí muy frustrada porque sentí que el libro tenía muchos elementos para destacar pero se quedó a medio camino. Y es que el hecho de que Grace aceptara su relación con David de una manera tan conformista, pero tan conformista, resultaba aburrido. Ni siquiera en sus escasos encuentros con él se sentía la pasión de dos personas que mantienen una relación prohibida, ¡nada! Pero a pesar de que la historia de ella no me encantó, el que sí me hizo sentir emociones y darle valor al libro solo por su aparición fue el señor Williams. Se puede aprender mucho de ese señor, de su relación y del valor que le da a la amistad. Él fue quien me despertó ternura y me hubiese encantado que se desarrollase un poquito más su aparición porque en un principio parece ser un personaje insignificante pero se convierte en uno muy importante en la historia y el desarrollo emocional de la protagonista. Y otra cosa que no me gustó porque la sentí sumamente forzada, fue la decisión tan “altruista” de la esposa de David, ¡No mi amor, no me la creí nadita! Definitivamente este libro no fue para mí, no lo odie pero sí me frustre porque no sobresalió y sé que no todo el tiempo nos encontraremos con libros que nos encanten pero cuando te presentan elementos que pueden hacer una historia sumamente dramática o pasional y no logran darle ese empuje que lleve a la historia al clímax me hace sentir decepción. Pero como les mencioné, sé que hay personas que lo amaron así que te invito a que lo leas y te formules tu propia opinión. Autora: Ariana Harwicz Editorial: Dharma Books ISBN: 9786079959029 Páginas: 96 Sinopsis: Siguiendo con la tradición de Matate, amor en La débil mental se tensan al límite los vínculos afectivos y familiares entre una madre y su joven hija, quienes viven casi a escondidas del mundo, entre el abandono del bosque. Ariana Harwicz consigue dilucidar un retrato bucólico pintado con colores agresivos que incomodan al espectador y al mismo tiempo lo capturan hasta la imposibilidad de dejar de observar. La débil mental es una especie de manual que introduce al lector en el sentimiento del duelo anticipado, aquel que llega antes de perder a un ser amado y que es acompañado por el consuelo que brinda llorar el dolor en el regazo de una madre. Mi opinión La débil mental es la continuación de una trilogía no planeada en la que muy posiblemente lo único que se comparta sea lo bizarro de la narrativa y la falta de miramientos ante una conducta en donde lo único que importa es saciar la libido. Debo confesar que con este libro libro tuve dificultades para terminarlo o para encontrarle sentido a la historia ya que a pesar de ser mucho más corto que 'Matate, amor' cuenta con dos protagonistas femeninas, madre e hija, y nuevamente, al ser protagonistas que carecen de nombre es fácil perderse tratando de descifrar si la anécdota era sobre la hija o la madre. Lo que sí nos queda claro desde un principio es que aquí lo que va a persistir es el deseo sexual y que además de persistir, irá incrementando hasta semejarse a un volcán en ebullición. Poco importará si estas mujeres han decidido permanecer aisladas del resto de la sociedad pues su libido ha decidido otra cosa y siempre estará buscando saciarse, sin importar si es con un hombre o con un sillón. Llega un punto en el que la necesidad es tanta que se pierde la intimidad y el pudor entre madre e hija, que lo único que importa es un roce que haga vibrar al cuerpo, sin importar de quién provenga. Mi reseña Este libro es el segundo encuentro que tengo con el autor y debo de confesar que me ha sorprendido gratamente. El primer libro que leí de él fue un middle grade hermoso, me ha asombrado la versatilidad con la que puede cambiar de género y entretener al lector. El libro en sí es bastante corto (tan corto que lo terminas en 1 hora) pero me pareció del tamaño idóneo para cualquier adolescente que se este aventurando en el maravilloso mundo de la lectura. A pesar de ser una historia de romance dentro un bucle temporal, me parece que no utilizó muchos tecnicismos que pudiesen llegar a confundir al lector, por el contrario, en los momentos necesarios fueron explicados de una forma muy digerible. En cuanto a la historia... Este relato a pesar de ser muy corto, te incita a encontrar la belleza en la cotidianidad, en los actos que en muchas ocasiones pasan desapercibidos pero que están colmados de generosidad, de bondad, de una belleza tan nítida que en ocasiones ignoramos. También te incita a vivir, a encontrarle la emoción a lo que puede llegar a sentirse como un bucle temporal o mejor conocido como monotonía . Y ni que decir de la importancia de soltar, llámese personas, sentimientos o cosas... Y ya para terminar, me ha encantado la referencia que hace de Planilandia, porque ¿qué lector no disfruta un libro que hable de libros? *Como dato adicional, esta historia fue llevada a la pantalla y la pueden disfrutar en Amazon Prime Video. Mi reseña Escuela de esgrima, volumen 1 es la novedad con la que se ha lanzado el nuevo sello de Ediciones Urano, Mab Graphic. Un sello específicamente para novelas gráficas que sin duda promete mucho. En México únicamente contamos con el primer tomo de C.S. Pacat que consta de 4 volúmenes hasta el momento pero en España ya se han lanzado 6 novelas gráficas, siendo Ajo y el vampiro la más reciente. Algo que sin duda me sorprendió muchísimo de este ejemplar es su tamaño, ya que se trata de una novela gráfica grande, inclusive más grande de lo que se acostumbra ya que mide 26 cm de alto, lo cual permite que se aprecien muchísimo mejor las ilustraciones de Johanna the Mad (Johanna LaFuente), ilustradora orgullosamente mexicana que comenzó a publicar sus fanarts en Tumbler desde el año 2013 y que logró catapultarse hasta ser la artista que le da vida a infinidad de ilustraciones en series como la de Pacat. Al tratarse de una novela gráfica, las ilustraciones tienen la misma importancia que la historia ya que con ellas se logra minimizar texto y expresar situaciones sin necesidad de escribir tanto dialogo, cuestión que LaFuente desarrolla a la perfección. En esta novela los personajes están tan bien definidos (visualmente hablando), cada uno de sus trazos les brinda fuerza y personalidad y además, contamos con una paleta de colores que los hace mayormente atractivos y ya para coronar, la calidad de las páginas es excelente, son suaves pero resistentes. En cuanto a la historia, a pesar de ser breve y dejarnos en pleno clímax, logra introducirnos bastante bien al tema central. Nicholas Cox es un adolescente que no cuenta con privilegios económicos pero que está decidido a demostrar que el hecho de ser pobre no le resta valor y que puede ser un buen esgrimista e inclusive estudiar en la prestigiosa escuela Kings Row. Algo que resalta al instante es el nivel de competición entre los chicos, ya que todos quieren ser el mejor o ser parte del grupo escolar, donde solo se selecciona a los mejores esgrimistas. Al estar en constante competición es un poco mas difícil para Cox entablar amistad con los chicos pero para balancear la testosterona tenemos a la simpática Bobby. Además de la historia, de conocer a los personajes y el lugar donde se desenvuelven, me gustó muchísimos conocer a grandes rasgos cómo se ejecuta la esgrima ya que es un tema que desconozco y que del cual estoy ansiosa por seguir conociendo con Escuela de esgrima, volumen 2. A través de sus múltiples personajes nos encontraremos con una tan compleja como original. Y es que conocer esta historia es toda una experiencia, te mantiene atento como si estuvieses en una función circense real, te arrastra párrafo tras párrafo en donde conoceremos a Celia y Marco, nuestros protagonistas. Pero conocerlos no será nada fácil pues existen brincos, retrocesos en el tiempo y misterios que se irán develando poco a poco. En esta ocasión mis personajes favoritos fueron los gemelos Poppet y Widget y es que los niños siempre le impregnan la dosis perfecta de ternura a cualquier historia pero estos chiquillos no solo son tiernos, son sumamente especiales y se quedaron en mi mente de una forma especial. Si eres fan de la fantasía, del circo y te gustan las historias con brincos en el tiempo en donde el romance es inevitable, no debes de perderte El circo de la noche, el circo que aparece y desaparece. Mi reseña En este HERMOSO libro encontraremos una gran cantidad de ilustraciones minimalistas realizadas por la propia autora, Eva Eland, además los tonos que ha elegido transmite tranquilidad e inspira ternura, al ser trazos muy sencillos los pequeños pueden practicar a dibujarlos, porque cuando a un pequeño algo le gusta mucho lo trata de imitar y en estas cuarenta páginas encontraran muchísimas ilustraciones que podrán inspirarlos a dibujar. En cuanto al tema principal del libro, es importante para todos los seres humanos aprender a reconocer y manejar las emociones para una vida más saludable por lo que los pequeños no son la excepción, a veces ellos no entienden porque pueden llegar a sentirse tristes, su capacidad de comprensión no les permite identificar el motivo por el cual se han llegado a sentir así y difícilmente lo van a expresar con claridad. Podrían llegar a comentar que están tristes y cuando les cuestionamos el motivo, muchos de ellos no saben que decir o creen que la razón por la que se sienten cabizbajos es algo malo y con este manual aprenderán que sentirse tristes es normal hasta cierto punto, que hay que aceptar la emoción y dejarla que fluya para que llegado el momento se vuelvan a sentir con mejores ánimos. En nuestro país seis de cada 100 niños padecen depresión infantil, por lo que es primordial que nos preocupemos por ellos y sus emociones, que lo que a un adulto le puede parecer una simpleza a un pequeño le puede partir el corazón y cambiar su manera de desenvolverse para siempre, pues recordemos que nuestra manera de interactuar con el mundo se va formando desde pequeños y si no logramos superar de manera adecuada alguna situación, muy probablemente se convierta en un patrón de conducta erróneo por lo que si conoces a algún niño cerca de tu entorno que siempre este cabizbajo trates de acercarte a él y ver si está dentro de tus posibilidades ayudarlo o hacerlo pasar un rato agradable. Mi reseñaAl tener una experiencia previa con la pluma de Goodman esperaba que este libro me gustara de principio a fin y aunque el desenlace fue bastante satisfactorio, sinceramente hubo momentos en los que no sabía que estaba sintiendo. El libro está constituido por 38 capítulos en los que a través de la voz de Kersti iremos conociendo como se desarrollaba la vida dentro del Lycèe, un internado para jovencitas de familias adineradas. El Lycèe ha decidido reunir a varias ex alumnas destacadas para su aniversario No. 100 y entre tantas han decidido invitar a Kersti. Ella, que ahora es escritora, al recibir la carta comienza a revivir su estadía en el internado y con ello a desentrañar un misterio sobre la tragedia ocurrida a su mejor amiga Cressida. Kersti se ha propuesto develar el misterio y no descansará hasta conseguirlo y vaya que lo logra. Algo que me sorprendió muchísimo en este libro y que no me agrado del todo es la sinopsis. Es la primera ocasión en la que me topo con un libro que se podría decir que “miente” en ella, porque yo así lo sentí como que me estaban mintiendo. Para mí, una cosa es develar pistas y dejar cabos sueltos que logran intrigar al lector para así envolverlo e incitarlo a leer la historia pero otra muy distinta es que describan un hecho que nunca sucedió. Esto en un principio me confundió muchísimo y me hizo sentir que quizá no había prestado suficiente atención a la lectura hasta que corroboré el dato con una amiga y me comentó que probablemente era para engancharte en la historia y después descubrir el “plot twist” pero, como les comento, es el primer libro con el que me sucede que en la sinopsis menciona un hecho sumamente relevante que después resulta una total mentira. Después está el hecho de que hay tantos saltos en el tiempo en los que Kiersti narra como era su juventud y la dinámica en el Lycèe, como Cressida era la abeja reina y todo giraba en torno a ella que me hacía sentir que estaba leyendo un libro juvenil en vez de una lectura para adultos y no me malinterpreten, no es que no me gusten los libros juveniles pero sentí que se abocó muchísimo en situaciones cotidianas de este par de chiquillas que a mi punto de vista, salían sobrando. Aun así no desistí y continúe con la historia pues la autora ya me tiene comprada como lectora fiel. A partir de la mitad del libro empiezan a surgir cosas realmente retorcidas y se empieza a poner bueno, ¡muy bueno! Y ni qué decir del desenlace, me dejó con la sangre hirviendo de coraje y de pie haciéndole ovaciones a Joanna Goodman pues me llevó por un camino turbulento en el que nunca pensé terminar. Otro de los puntos fuertes de la historia es que plasma perfectamente la magnitud que puede alcanzar el grooming y sobre todo lo terrible que es cuando sucede en un centro educativo. Al final logré disfrutar mucho de esta lectura y me sorprendió mucho como es que las jovencitas del internado lograron documentar los hechos en el libro de la Sociedad Helvetia, una sociedad secreta que fue prohibida años antes de que Kersti y Cressida fueran estudiantes. En resumen, es una lectura que sí recomiendo y que estoy segura de que los dejará estupefactos. "El ego tiene una gran capacidad para aferrarse al amor no correspondido como si fuera una especie de fracaso personal, una mancha irrevocable en los logros del pasado". Mi opinión Este libro es parte de una serie de libros independientes en los que conoceremos a los Calaveras redimidos y sabremos cómo transcurrió su vida después de haber escapado a una muerte inminente. En este caso conoceremos la historia de Gordon y Callista, quienes desde chicos eran amigos y en su adolescencia tuvieron que separarse debido a acuerdos matrimoniales. Sabremos todo lo que les pasa después de su separación, la manera en la que se reencuentran y como se rinden al amor, situación que he disfrutado muchísimo. En el primer libro de los Calaveras redimidos sentí que la historia era demasiado irreal, que todo pasaba tan de prisa (inclusive el romance) por lo que la historia no fue de mi agrado. Pero aquí todo tiene coherencia, se nos presentará una relación en la que los sentimientos han perdurado a pesar del tiempo y la distancia y en la que solo se necesitaba de un impulso para que esa amistad floreciera y se convirtiera en un bonito romance. De esos romances que son añorados por el lector y que inclusive dan ganas de vivir. Pero lo que más me ha gustado de ésta novela es la actitud que tiene Callista ante las experiencias que vive en su estadía en Jamaica, la consideración y el respeto que tiene hacia los seres humanos que en esa época eran tratados como esclavos, la manera en las que les devuelve su dignidad y se gana el cariño y el respeto de muchos. Sin duda ella ha sido mi personaje favorito. Y como si todos estos elementos no fueran suficientes para agradar al lector, también nos encontraremos con los momentos de suspenso y acción que vivieron en la batalla de Baltimore y con los cuales me mantuve en vilo pero también me llevaron a querer vitorear ante la inteligencia y valentía de las mujeres. En resumen, una historia llena de suspenso, acción y romance como solo se pudo haber vivido a principios del siglo XIX.
