daily bouts of inspiration Whether we know it or not, we create all day long. We create to-do lists We accomplish tasks for our boss We plan at least a meal if not two We create our outfit for the day. Day 1 Now. Maybe those ideas do not strike at the heart of being a creative. The point is that whether we realize it or not, we do create. What about intentional creativity? The kind that inspires us to think outside the norms of the routines of every day life. The kind that causes us to hunker down a little in our thoughts. The kind that makes us stop the regimen of the day and forge an experience. Day 2 One reason found for purposeful creativity is self-care. I know. I know. That is an on-topic, can’t open your browser or any social media channel without being confronted with the whole trending ‘self-care’ topic. This is what I think. It’s a topic which time has come. And I’m not referring to this sugary-lacking in any real concrete idea-self love thing. No. I’m probably not going to be found projecting my personal need for self love on all the people. Day 3 Actually. I am talking instead about this little place within us that needs to be re-fueled probably daily. I’m talking about paying attention to the reality that we probably do administer self-care more than we already realize. I’m talking about being a bit more intentional with the need to enter into whole hearted living. Day 5 Just one way to do this is by exercising our creativity with intent. To set aside, even just a small bit of our day: to craft with our hands to create visual inspiration to give voice to the inside imagination See how many of our senses this touches? Day 5 This is just one reason I have highlighted #30daysofMemoryDex this craft month of March. I needed to craft a way to do something challenging, but not over the top, everyday. For me this is already producing a couple of factors: managing my time a bit more intentionally coming up with one new idea daily allowing this simple craft sesh to be a mediative time That’s just three aspects of what #30daysofMemoryDex is doing for me. I’m not trying to recreate the wheel creatively everyday. But I am finding a sense of what fuels me. Even in this ever so simple of creative daily gestures. Day 6 The photos in this post are the past seven days of this month’s creative endeavor. The funniest and simplest joy of having these cards sitting pretty in my MemoryDex Spinner, well..I am having a difficult time putting into words how it rewards my heart and soul. I find I go over to the Spinner often through the day and just look through. Which always prompts a new idea. Who knew self-care could be so pretty! Day 7 Is there even the smallest need with in you that needs to be re-fueled? Here’s my challenge: sketch out a small bit of time for purposeful creativity. Allow that time to wash over you with self-care. And fuel your heart for all that is asked of you in your life. I invite you to be apart of this challenge: Take a look at this video as I walk through the Memory Dex Spinner and talk through how each of the cards are embellished. While the foundation of these cards is MemoryDex, the crafting really comes from the Emerson Lane Collection. Hello, my name is Tatiane Pereira, but I go by Tati and I’m a huge fan of Felicity Jane products. I'm a Brazilian living Curitiba, Brazil and feel so blessed to be the guest designer here for the month of July. My favorite ways to scrapbook are mini albums, travel notebooks and layouts 8.5 x 11. For my first project th
Hello! I’m Stacy from tatterednestdesigns.com and I am super excited to have been asked to create a album and share it over here at Mini Album Makers! First, I’ll introduce myself...I’ve been paper crafting for over 20 years now, I started out scrapbooking and card-making and have always had a love for vintage. I am a vintage ephemera, jewelry and knick knacks junkie... About 3 years ago I was introduced to Tim Holtz products and that is when my love for mixed media began. Last year I dove head first into creating and haven’t looked back. I am a HUGE Tim Holtz fan and am slightly addicted to anything he makes. When Mini Album Makers asked me to share, I knew exactly what I wanted to make...for a couple of months now I have been creating nature inspired #8 tags. I have found that tags are a quick and easy way to experiment and try new techniques, but I’ve been collecting them and thought that I should create a type of mini album to keep them in. This is what I came up with...an accordion style tag shaped album that uses 2 of the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Etcetera Thick Board “mini” size tags that are 4.5”x8” they are extremely sturdy and make a great front and back cover. This album houses #8 tags perfectly! Let’s Begin! I cut 3 sheets of Watercolor Paper to 8”x9” ...then I scored them in the middle at 4 1/2” and connected them together with some Tim Holtz Design Tape. I trimmed the tag corners on each and used one of the wide design tapes on the page edges. I connected the pages together and formed the accordian. I reinforced each of the folded edges of the pages with tape as well. Then I began arranging and creating the layouts of my pages, I used some vintage dictionary pages, old sheet music, and Tim Holtz paper stash papers and just had fun inking and creating the backgrounds with various stamps, embellishments and ephemera. I stitched some of the pages onto the tag background pages with my sewing machine. Here are each of the completed layouts with their complimenting tags. Here is the reverse side of the album. I created the backgrounds and plan to add a couple more nature inspired tags to complete the album. After I had my layouts complete, I began creating the front and back covers. I did this by creating a collage with the new Tim Holtz Idea-ology Worn Wallpaper, scraps of various papers and a few pieces of design tape. I adhered all of the papers with Distress Collage Matte Medium and then put a thin layer over top. Then I blended some Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon around the edges to emphasize and give the book a worn look. I sprayed both the front and back covers with some Distress Resist Spray and sprinkled the areas with Gold Embossing Powder then I embossed it with my heat gun. I then began creating and gathering the embellishments for the front cover of the book. I began by embossing a piece of gold distress Kraft stock paper with the new 3D Botanical Texture Fade and adhered it to a small Idea-ology Baseboard Frame with collage medium, but it was far too shiny for my project so I began distressing it. First, I painted it lightly with some Picket Fence Distress Paint, sanded it a bit with my Sanding Grip, added a bit of Mushroom Alcohol Ink, and a bit of Gold Mixative, then blended it with some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide and some Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon plus a couple drips of water... and Bam!! A distressed frame that looks like an old tin type frame...I was so happy! The large frame I distressed by sanding and then adding bits of Walnut Stain Distress Oxide and water drips. I stamped some flowers and embossed them with Gold Embossing Powder onto the frame. Tied on a ribbon, added some stamped flowers that had been colored with Distress Markers. The Quote Token and Mini Hardware Pull were distressed with Picket Fence Distress paint, Gold Mixative Alcohol Ink and a tiny bit of Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint. I added a bit of old lace and a stamped butterfly and completed the cover with a tiny vintage locket that contained snipped words from a dictionary and some Idea-ology Sticker Clippings plus a tiny button. I tied on the old locket with some string and added a couple more tiny buttons and knots. All the cover embellishments were adhered with Distress Collage Matte Medium. This is a photo of the album laid flat to show you both the front and back cover, they were both adhered to the thick board Etcetera tags with Distress Collage Matte Medium. Thank you so much for welcoming me! I will be posting a deeper look into the album over on my blog within a couple days. Thank you and have a great day! And make sure to get your projects added to our June challenge for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to StencilGirl Products! You are invited to the Inlinkz link party! Click here to enter
Hello there! Thanks for stopping by! I have a new obsession! Memory Dex Swapping! Heidi Swapp came or with the Memory Dex system over a year ago. Of course, I went it and bought all of the supplies and accessories, but it ended there. Heidi created this with the idea that you could make little scrapbook pages/memories on these little cards and have them on display. Awesome! You can see that concept here A friend and I had an idea to make these fun little cards as little pieces of art and trade them... and well... the idea of swapping Memory Dex cards has taken off from there! Here are some I've recently created: This one is using a new paper pad by Trimcraft and it's available at Michaels. The texture of this Editpaper is Amazing! I love using lots of different layers And trying new things (like distressed edges) I have a fun video (lined below) to show you how I created this fun bicycle card. These are just to quick, easy and fun to create. It's fun to use acetate and create a see through card like this one. I have lots more to show you but I'll save that for another post. Remember the days of old paper rolodex cards? Now we are taking them to a new level -- altering and decorating them in a way that they never were before! Post your pictures of altered rolo cards, and your rolodex holders too! Please be cautious about showing the address side of your cards. For security, it would be wise to blur or otherwise cover any identifying address & contact information.

This is one of my favorite sayings. She believed she could... so she did. and then she did it again......... and again....... It's happened again. I've gotten obsessed over another craze and this time it's Memory Dex Cards! Warning... this blog post is PICTURE HEAVY! I can't stop making these! I even get up every morning and make one before I go work. It's consuming my brain at all hours of the night! I think it's because they are so quick and easy to make. There's no big time slot required to make one from start to finish. They don't take a lot of supplies. They are great for using up all those little bits and pieces left over from other projects. They are a great way to try new things, new colors and techniques. I have tried to make the majority of mine "inspirational". It's fun to flip through and see all the positive quotes. But sometimes... I just have to add a little Tiffany's ... and Kate Spade. Who doesn't love those? We are having such a great time in our Facebook Group "Memory Dex Swaps". You should see the creative talents of our members! They keep upping the bar and I love it! Please come and join us! Some of our members like to swap cards with one another, and others are making them for themself. Either way, we love to see what you're creating and inspire one another. You never know what your Memory Dex might look like. The card above was inspired by a raining afternoon. And this one was inspired by a card I saw in Walgreens. What would your card look like? Would you stamp on it? Would you watercolor (oh how I wish I could watercolor). Or maybe you will make a yummy yarn bow and attach it? Or, just maybe you're a shaker card kind of person? This was inspired by a card I saw on instagram. With brave wings she flies...... I think we all need that reminder now and then Well Hello there! Oh hey! I mean, really the possibilities are endless! Make a difference. Simple enough. Just say "hi." No significance to the #8, but I've always liked it because it reminds me of the sign for infinity. Another Hello. That's all I decided to use up some of my Planner Society kits and created a few more dex cards and then there was this Happy Mail Stamp set that was screaming to be used. and who doesn't need a heart shaker Forgot to punch the holes before I took a picture. I get so excited when I complete one. Hello, beautiful! Sometimes, you're just feeling blessed! or maybe you want to celebrate "friends" My favorite place to be..... Lemonade anyone? I've got lots more to share, but I think I'll save a few for later. I wouldn't want you to think I've completely lost it! :) If you'd like to join in the fun, here are some fun products to get you started: Create fun Rolodex/Memory Dex Cards with the Cricut Memory Dex Roller File: http://amzn.to/2m9Pw4Z Memory Dex Punch: http://amzn.to/2m9Pw4Z Memory Dex Dies: http://amzn.to/2m9Pw4Z Memory Dex Inserts: http://amzn.to/2m9Pw4Z

Hi everyone! It's Lindsay here. Today I truly cannot contain my excitement! I have never been more pumped for a release than I am about this gorgeous all NEW Heidi Swapp MemoryDex Spinner. Isn't it absolutely beautiful? They are available in both black and white, and will be available in both independent and online stores very soon...so stay tuned! I always love anything that is a source of immediate visual inspiration. So when this little (but not so little) beauty graced my workspace, I honestly have never been more inspired! These beautiful spinners come in both black and white, and can we not stop and talk about the gorgeous gem turn handles for just one moment please? Seriously, they are amazing. So here is a little sneak peek into my MemoryDex so far. I have it FULL of stuff that just makes me happy. Sometimes, I will just take a few moments and create a card for my MemoryDex. Filling this beauty has turned into such a great creative exercise for me. I love creating different cards, whether it be with quotes, photos, or just pretty paper...they are so much fun to make. Today I am going to share with you my newest additions that I created for my MemoryDex. They are a mix of old and new product. I have found that creating these cards is also such a fun way to use up one's stash. I also love to mix and match. So here we go! My first card, (also the one that serves as my "title" card when sitting on my desktop) is a collaboration effort. I thought it was most fitting to use the 'September' MemoryDex card from the 'monthly' set. I love that these just come clean and white, with gold foiled dates on the tab. So fun to use and help to organize your MemoryDex for whatever theme you are choosing to do! I layered the gold foiled 'hi' MemoryDex card on top of it from the 'gold foil acetate' set. I then added a cute little tag and hot pink love sticker (from the new Michaels collection) and simply clipped it on using a white bull dog clip (also new and from Michaels). This 'Everyday Fabulous' card I created using one of the patterned MemoryDex cards and incorporated my MINC. The 'everyday' is a foil rub on. I chose to use pink foil and after applying my rub on, simply ran it through my MINC on setting 0 just to allow the machine to apply the best even pressure to adhere my foil. I then added the 'fabulous' sticker, adorable pink bow (new to Michaels) and a gold chipboard triangle (from Memory Planner collection) and stitched on a pink glitter tag (also avail at Michaels). I always love incorporating quotes into my MemoryDex. I also love the cards from the Address Book MemoryDex set for this reason. I love using the alphas to serve as a prompt or guide when adding quotes. I simply typed out this quote stitched it on my card and then added my embellishments. This time I added some of the beautiful new washi that is new to Michaels on this card, as well as the gorgeous gold puffy stickers and mint green sticker. These next cards are so fun. What I did here was incorporate some of my favorite cards and accents from the brand new Heidi Swapp Project Life. Because they are 4x4 size, they fit perfectly into the MemoryDex spinner. So here I took a chipboard frame, and a 4x4 floral card and simply used my punch to add them into the spinner. I love the interactivity it adds and how it is just another use for additional stash! Sometimes with Project Life you can be left with duplicate cards or supplies, so this is a fabulous way to use up those duplicates in a new way! :) I created the 'dream big, sparkle more, shine bright' embellishment from a freebie that Heidi Swapp had made available a few weeks back. I printed on white cardstock and then simply ran through my MINC with hot pink foil. Adhered with some dimensional tape and voila! How fun is this? This last card is probably my latest favorite. I LOVE the 'dream big' washi that I used to create the cards background. I simply just placed multiple strips atop the card, trimmed off the excess to reveal a gorgeous customized background. I then added some fun extras from the Memory Planner collection and the 'today' note is brand new to Michaels (along with the stamp 'remember that' from the new Project Life stamp set). I used a super cute butterfly clip to finish it off from my stash...I believe it was from last years Memory Planner collection. So, because sometimes with certain products photos just do not do it entirely justice...I also created a little video below that you can check out. A little more 'up close and personal' flip through with my MemoryDex. Enjoy everyone! Hope you love this brand new release as much as I do. It's just so gorgeous!
