Hi everyone. Yesterday I spent the day in my studio with two crafty friends, Debbie and Frances. We used to work together and have know each other for over 30 years ... where does the time go??!! I showed them the smooshing technique using different papers (watercolour, mixed media) and two mediums (distress ink, inka gold wax paste). We made a bunch of backgrounds and found time for each of us to make six cards, as well as having many backgrounds left over to make into cards later. So fun! Above is one I made die-cutting an inka gold smooshed background. Love the soft and shimmery colours. Frances mention that it was a shame to throw away the leftover background with the leaves cut out from it, so I showed her and Debbie how to create an inlaid die-cut card ... a "twofer" as Darnell would say! :) I hope you have a fun and inky day!! Thanks for dropping by for a visit!! I always love hearing from you. :) Stamps: Just for You sentiment (Butterfly Birthday set from Happy Little Stampers); Thinking of you sentiment (A Little Sentimental stamp set from Clearly Besotted) Paper: White card base (Neenah); Mixed Media (Stratmore) Ink: Smoky Slate (SU!) Accessories & Tools: Inka Gold in Jade, Steel Blue and Platinum), water mister, Fresh Foliage die-cut (Memory Box)
A place for me to share the cards I create, and maybe a few other things, too!

Hi everyone. Continuing to experiment with my flower box die ... turning it into pots. This time I used the Small Flower Box die from Poppy Stamps. I had a hard time getting the three pots the same size, so will have to figure out a process. Even though they aren't perfect, still loving this card and another way to use an old (and well-used) stamp from SU! called Pocket Silhouettes. Here's a close-up ... I'm thinking I should have made the pots a little larger and filled them more to fill the page - maybe next time :) I'm still working on setting up the cards for my class in August and decided to make another flower box card using a different flower stamp (this time tulips). I'll let the girls decide which one they want to make (the lavender from yesterday or today's tulip card). Again, this is a re-make of a card I did last spring, changing up the colors, card base color and removing some layers to make it more CAS. It inspired me to make the card above ... Here's the new(er) version: Same process as yesterday ... but I have just now realized that I didn't give any details, so in case you're interested in how I did this - here goes. Masked my card front 1 1/2" from the bottom. Placed my flower box die on top of the mask at the top and marked with a pencil at both ends ... this is to make sure I don't stamp flowers that would be outside the box. Remove die and then inked my leaf sprig and stamped three times, including a second generation stamping with each pass (this gives lighter stamps that look like they are in the background and creates the illusion of depth). Did the same with the flowers, inking the stamp with my Stampin' Write markers and stamping and stamping again before reinking. Also added some leaf sprigs on the flower box. Removed the mask, stamped the sentiment (just got it in the mail today from C.C. Designs) and then popped up the card front on the card base and added the flower box (also popped up for added dimension). Here's a close-up: Do love the two-tone tulips and the bright green leaf sprigs. Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes (SU!); Leaf Sprig - Cause a Scene Master #1 (Kittie Kits - Rubbernecker); Sweet Summer Sentiments (Amy R) Paper: White (Neenah) Ink: Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Crumb Cake (SU!) Accessories & Tools: Big Shot, Grand Flower Box die (Poppy Stamps), Stamp-a-ma-jig, adhesives and dimensionals
Hi and welcome! Today's post is definitely one for my "mostly dies" category. I played with my Memory Box Graceful Anemone and Anemone Bud Duo. My goal was to keep it relatively clean, if not simple, and to use up some old designer paper. I have a hard time getting past the "waste not, want not" philosophy and so I keep plugging away at it. I ended up with rather a monotone-ish card. Sometimes things just sort of happen on their own. I cut in white and colored with Tombows, and punched gold mirror cardstock circles for embellishment. The sentiment is The Ton Easy Expressions stamp set with matching die set. The following cards were meant to be bonus cards, simply an effort to use the designer paper. However, I put more time and effort into them than planned and I love them a lot. The first is with Memory Box Sylvan Sprig, cut in PTI Ocean Tide, then coated with Versamark and clear embossed. The wave is a Memory Box die, cut twice and layered with the underneath piece upside down. More of the gold punched circles on this one. Lots of wavy lines today. You could get seasick, but I hope you don't. Bonus card #2, below, has gold paint on the sprig and Diamond Glaze on the punched circles. I added tiny gold dots with Nuvo Pale Gold Crystal Drops. Older Spellbinders curved borders on this one. The next card is fun with lots of homemade resin dots -- punched from the designer paper and coated with Diamond Glaze. Memory Box Frieda Curve on this one, with a Cottage Cutz sentiment. The sentiment is clear embossed. Finally, Memory Box Freida Leaf with Spellbinders curve and Sue Wilson Creative Expressions sentiment. More homemade resin dots and Nuvo drops. The sentiment and leaf are both cut from PTI Ocean Tide cardstock, but the sentiment was coated with Versamark and clear embossed. It's interesting how much it darkens when embossed. I'll be sending my never-before-used anemones over to Darnell's NBUS Challenge #63. Thanks for wading through this long post with me. Brand new toys are fun, but it feels so comfortable to sit down and create with the oldies, too. I love it all. Have a wonderful day!

Good Sunday morning. I have a fun white on white window scene with bight pops of color to share with you today. I really love the shape of Susan’s Conservatory Window. I think it is decorative and so perfectly crisp on an all white background. It certainly creates a perfect stage for the mini wreath, ... Read more
