Looking for a way to set new year's goals in math class? This math pennant is in the shape of a new year's horn and allows students to write out their goals and get a little creative decorating their math classrooms. The math pennants then act as reminders of their new year goals.
This back to school math pennant has a Golden Spiral theme and is a fun activity for students to complete on the first day of school. The finished pennants make beautiful student-created math classroom décor to hang on your classroom bulletin board. There are 7 printable versions and 1 drag-and-drop digital version inside the file. Two of the printable pennants include glyph directions (favorite class, number of siblings, etc.). There's also a short lesson on the Golden Ratio linked inside. Some of the printable pennants ask students to fill in information about themselves, some have numbers of the Fibonacci Sequence within the spiral, and others are more open-ended for coloring. You can choose which pennant to give to your class or let students decide. Students drag and drop different colored shaped in the digital pennant, based on their answers to the glyph questions. I have made math pennants for algebra, geometry, middle school math and even elementary math topics including fractions. To date, there are over 100 to choose from!
Students divide decimals in this math pennant activity that doubles as student-created classroom decor. Problems cover the following skills: -Dividing decimals by whole numbers -Dividing whole numbers by decimals -Dividing decimals by 10, 100 -Dividing decimals by decimals The pennants vary in difficulty, allowing all students to be challenged. Includes 40 pennants, an optional student answer sheet and an answer key. The last 10 pennants cover decimals divided by decimals. An extra answer sheet for just pennants 1-30 is included if students are not ready for this skill. Each group of students can be given a set of pennants, crayons, scissors and either glue, tape or a stapler. Students can be in charge of cutting out the pennants. Students practice using the Pythagorean Theorem while also using their logic to figure out area and perimeter.
