This soft yet sturdy reversible rug is made from the wool of the Karakul Sheep, which are known for their ability to thrive under harsh conditions. The varying natural colors of the wool provides a stunning complexity to is simplicity. Suitable for any time of year, the natural Karakul wool is cool in the summer and warm in the winter while the high lanolin content protects it from stains and flames.
I rescued this from an estate sale. Tag from the weaver still on the piece. Weaver: Theelithe (sp?). The weaver titled it Luphy and Daughter stumping mielies (that's what it appears to say on the inked piece of clothe attached to the back of the weaving). Handmade in Lebowa. It measures 35" x 24" with and additional 3" of fringe on each end. It can be used as a rug or wall hanging. The previous owner used it as a wall hanging so it has never been placed on the floor and walked on. It is in fabulous condition. No stains anywhere. Very rustic looking wool that according to the piece attached to the rug is all hand dyed. It says each tapestry is an original and not a mere copy of a similarly designed and completed piece. Mansana Tapestries are handwoven picture stories created by talented weavers, at Bushbuckridge, a small village near the Kruger National Park according to the placard attached to the piece.
The Masana Collection is a new range of handwoven rugs, each made by a single artisan from natural hand-spun yarn.

European tech and design agency Bakken & Bæck have delivered the brand identity and website for climate tech company Carbo Culture. “At the core of Carbo Culture as a business is its patented Carbolysis process and the high-quality biochar it produces,” Creative Copywriter Callum Copley tells us, touching on the innovative carbon removal process that has been developed by the Helsinki-based start-up. “Biochar is incredibly stable, meaning it doesn’t rot or degrade for centuries, unlike biomass, which lasts a matter of weeks or months. As a result, the carbon is trapped for longer and, in the process, it’s prevented from entering the atmosphere as CO2.” In this way, he adds, biochar has the effect of ‘removing carbon’ that would've otherwise contributed to the greenhouse effect, worsening climate change.
