SCAD FASH presents "Fashioning Art from Paper," an exhibition that explores 500 years of fashion through the breathtaking trompe l'oeil masterpieces of Belgian artist Isabelle de Borchgrave. Through her expert manipulation of paper and paint, de Borchgrave creates sculptural replicas of historic garments found in early European paintings or collections from around the world — from the Renaissance finery of the Medici family and gowns worn by Queen Elizabeth I, to the creations of the grand couturiers of the 20th century such as Charles Frederick Worth and Paul Poiret.

Vintage Fortuny Sevigne pattern. Unused old stock dated 1961 on the selvage and the signature "made in Italy Mariano Fortuny Depose" on the opposite selvage. Sevigne pattern a 17th C. French Design named for Madame de Sevigne. FORTUNY INC. has this to say about the pattern: Madame de SEVIGNE is yet another fantastic French historical figure who captivated Mariano Fortuny’s imagination, like Richelieu, Mazzarino, or Lamballe. The 17th-century people and the designs they inspired are both excessive in their riches. SEVIGNE is filled with feathery plumes and foliage that extols the glories of the garden and the dolce vita. Mme de Sevigne herself was known for flowery embellishment with her letter writing, considered a jewel of 17th-century French literature. Fabric is 56 1/2" wide selvage to selvage, pattern is 51 1/2" wide with 3 /2" wide border on one side with the scrolling "R" approx. 1" wide. Border is on one side only, opposite 2" border is plain. Condition is excellent un used. **At the time of listing there is 60" available, or five feet. Color is "Warm French Brown and Gold" with the gold metallic overlay, which has a mild patina. Pattern repeat is 43" vertical (1.2 yards for a full repeat), and 25 3/4" horizontal (two repeats across the width). The Fortuny sample book is from 1980's. Images are an important part of the description. Please view all images for a full understanding. Unless described as new, all items have age appropriate wear. I will do my best to point out all flaws or problems in this description.
Scudo Saraceno translates to Saracen Shield – Saracen was a term used in medieval Europe to describe Muslims. This exotic design reflects Mariano Fortuny’s interest in Saracen artistic themes. This Fortuny® Scudo Saraceno Plain silk lamp is ideal for large, sophisticated interiors.
The artisans of Venice inspired this beautiful dinnerware pattern from L'Objet. Their carefully guarded secrets of technique have been handed down directly from the ancient world, one generation of skilled hand-crafters to the next. The legendary fashion and textile designer Mariano Fortuny - revealing a deep and kindred connection that transcends time - sets the spirit of this collaboration. Prior to founding L’Objet in 2004, Israeli-born Elad Yifrach was a successful designer in Beverly Hills. He was creating beautiful interiors, but he was frustrated by the limited options available in home accessories, so he set out to create something better. L’Objet’s collections are diverse, but they are almost always inspired by nature and architecture. Many of his exquisite serving pieces rest in a base of hand-crafted gold foliage, other pieces feature intricate design and beadwork, and some of the most striking objects actually look like miniature buildings. And despite the lux feel, much of the line is practical with just a touch of whimsy.

The Venetian textile house recently unveiled the newly restored palazzo-museum where founder Mariano Fortuny lived, as well as the 1921 factory that still produces the house’s fabrics
The late Venetian artist and designer Mariano Fortuny (1871-1949) was celebrated for his beautiful fabric designs. From 1927 onwards, his gorgeous hand-painted silks were used to create an exquisite collection of orientally inspired lights and lamps, decorated with glass beads and silk tassels. Today, some of these wonderful lights are to be found in the Fortuny museum in Venice. We are very pleased to offer you a superb range of Fortuny-style chandeliers, lamps and lights, copied faithfully from the original designs, and with the same intricate detailing, but rendered in Murano glass. The metal parts are plated with either 24 carat gold or 20 carat platinum for a high-end finish. This very luxurious wall ceiling lamp is a modern-day homage to the traditional Fortuny style. The beautiful white Murano glass diffuser is geometric in shape, and decorated with a delicate gold pattern. The metal detailing is exquisite. This is a very large and substantial item which is sure to take centre stage in any room. Please tell us at our online checkout if you would like any of the other colours on the chart. On the left you will see the same lamp with a subtle marble effect. Please get in touch with us if you would like a price for this.
