Thank you for supporting a queer independent artist's shop! This portrait of María Félix is an archival fine art quality inkjet print of an original etching. ♦️ Printed on extremely thick and luxurious Hahnemühle FineArt Ink Jet Museum Etching 350 gsm paper. ♦️ Each print is hand signed and carefully packaged in a stay-flat mailer, protected by a Krystal Seal bag and an acid-free cardboard backing. I originally created this intaglio etching using drypoint and aquatint techniques. The line work was etched into a metal plate by hand with a diamond-tipped carving tool. Solid tones are created with the aquatint method using ground tree rosin, heat and acid. Detailed shading is achieved with the manual use of metal roulette wheels and burnishers. The plate is then hand-inked, hand-wiped and printed onto printmaking paper by running it through an etching press under a thick layer of wool blankets. With the drypoint technique, the number of original prints you can pull is limited; the burrs in the metal's surface wear down with the pressure of the press and soften the lines carved into the plate. The limited nature of this method of printing produces exceptional blacks and line variations, but as a result I was only able to print a limited edition of 20. She is happy to be brought back to life as a new edition on gorgeous paper and soy based ink, worthy of the originals, to be enjoyed by her admirers for years to come. Hand signed and printed. Proudly printed in Richmond, California.
