“This book is an outline guide to building rudimentary furniture that is empowering and liberating by allowing you to make simple, flexible furniture from inexpensive materials. This is not a step by step guidebook but more of a process and a philosophy that teaches a deeper understanding of material and structural engineering. My only wish is that I would have had this book as a teenager”. Gearoid About This Book This book is a project by designer Enzo Mari outlining designs for making easy-to-assemble furniture using rough boards and nails. It is not easy to translate into English the Italian word autoprogettazione. Literally it means auto = self and progettazione = design. But more than a book of design drawings this book describes Mari’s philosophy. Though elementary techniques of furniture making Enzo teaches us to look at present production with a critical eye. The first edition of the book was compiled by the Duchamp Centre and printed for the exhibition at the Galleria Milano in 1974. Born with a rare condition, the artist has chronicled her life in portraits – capturing everything from her tattooed prosthetics to the tentacled creature she stitched together on the shores of Naoshima
This publication, co-authored by ISEAS director and curator Katja Juhola, project mentor Mari Krappala and two of the participating artists, Joan Marie Kelly and Clarice Zdanski, recounts the events that took place in autumn 2017 during Finlands first socially engaged art symposium. This weekend I’m going on a creative Pratyahara Retreat: Unspoken . Two days of silence, yoga, meditation and painting. Pratyahara is the 5th limb of yoga and it is concerned with taking us from the outside to the inside , with withdrawing the senses, so that the yogi, like an
On ne sait toujours pas si l’argent fait le bonheur, mais un cliché tenace voudrait que le mariage et les enfants, si. Détrompons-nous ! Les femmes qui n’ont ni enfants ni mari seraient plus heureuses. Explications.
When I was younger, I always joked that I pretty much didn't like anyone when I first met them because I was always skeptical. Thankfully because of Yoga my heart is more open and I love meeting new people...shoot I went from Black Widow (my sorority pledge name) to Namaste Mari. Even though, I am more open when meeting individuals; I still have my guard up with whom I let into my circle. I think we instinctively know who we vibe with and who we don't and there is nothing wrong with that. I think this meme sums up friendships perfectly... Exactly two years ago, I "picked" a human and we've been great friends ever since. I met Angie at a company outing; she was just hired and the PT team went go cart racing to celebrate hitting our monthly goal. We slowly built a friendship from that day and of course we had some baby hiccups but I call that the learning curve lol. I truly believe that people come into your life during different seasons of your growth and I met Angie exactly when I was supposed to. Two of my closest friends had just moved out of town and the Universe knew what it was doing when our paths crossed. This past weekend we headed to Cheesecake Factory to celebrate and I devoured my Chinese Chicken Salad as if it were the last meal on earth.It. Is. My. Fave. Making new friends as an adult is pretty hard and I think it's important to celebrate small milestones like this. Check out the vlog below for a mini Gap haul as well as some of my favorite things that I ordered from Ulta and of course our celebratory lunch! Namaste....
