I started planning Ellie’s 4th birthday party months ago, thanks to Pinterest and its wealth of ideas for Tangled birthday parties. I cut each piece for the invitation, and glued them together onto printed cardstock that had all the information. I took ideas from many different places, and what resulted was a fun party that went exactly as planned and pleased the most princessy of birthday girls. The guests arrived to a sign that welcomed them into the back part of our house. We wanted to keep the party in the kitchen area and outside (it was a lovely, windy day), so we used the décor to guide our guests to the party zone, And keep the children from wandering upstairs. I used tulle to simulate hair and draped it around the stairs to create a barrier and add to the decor. As the kids were invited outside, they had the opportunity to paint like Rapunzel, Decorate a yarn braid with felt sticker flowers, Or make a Pascal party blower. We also rented a bounce house and kept Ellie's dress-up trunk out for the little girls to try on some princess costumes while they played, so those activities kept everyone busy, bouncing, crafting, and of course, eating some Tangled-themed snacks. I thought I was pretty clever with Flynn's grapes (from the scene where he tells Rapunzel that her leaving the tower will crush Mother Gothel's soul, "like a grape"). And the braids are puff pastry with jelly brushed on then braided and baked. These were too cute to not make. I made goldfish-style crackers and cut them with a duck-shaped cookie cutter. My mother-in-law said she loved them and probably ate too many. We added Ellie's favorite snack too. Since most of the kids are in the 3-4 age range, we kept the structure pretty loose, but we did have a few organized activities, like the Pin the Nose on Flynn Rider game. And Ellie really wanted a Piñata, so we got one. It had to look like Rapunzel, of course, and I found it at Party City for more money than I wanted to spend, but I got it anyway. I made some satchels out of felt for the kids to have a place to put the goodies they scooped up from the broken piñata. I even personalized them with shrink charms that were pretty fun to make. I think they turned out great and fulfilled their purpose very well. Then it was cake time. This was my first human character cake, and while the face doesn’t really look like Rapunzel, Ellie loved it anyway and everyone was wowed by it. I even got a little creative with the inside. Ellie also really wanted some Pascal cake pops, so we made some… and she even helped to dip them! They look a lot like aliens to me, but they tasted great and made my little girl happy, so they were definitely worth the trouble! The party would not have been complete without some Kingdom pennants (cut out of construction paper and hung with string) to decorate, and we spread an assortment of balloons around too, just to keep it festive (and maybe slightly reminiscent of the floating lights?) By the end of the party, the painting looked like this, The gift table looked like this, The cake looked like this, And we handed some watercolor paints to our guests as favors before they walked out the door. Oh, and the birthday girl looked like this. I'd say she had a pretty good time. And I had a great time throwing this party. Happy Birthday, Ellie! Welcome to the party - Come on in and put on your kitty ears and whiskers! My daughter turned 7 this past summer and we celebrated with a cat themed pool party. Yes, an interesting combination, but it worked out well! She’s been a bit cat-obsessed lately so I knew we had to do a cat theme, and since her birthday is in July, being able to be outside and swim made the party even more fun. If you’re planning a party soon, keep in mind that I offer special birthday party photography packages to capture the day’s events. Packages also include an online gallery to share the photos with friends after the party. Contact me for more info. Even if you don’t hire a photographer for your child’s birthday, I highly recommend assigning the task to a friend or family member. It’s hard to document all the little details of the day while actually enjoying the moment yourself. (I will be taking my own advice next year!) And now, on to all the cat party details... I sent out these cute cat-themed invitations from My Paper Crane. After putting on their own cat ears and whiskers, the girls got to make cat collars for themselves and their "adopt-a-cat" kittens. I printed out these fun adoption certificates from Chickabug. Kitty cat party favors:

Happy Friday! Spring is party season in our house. The girls birthdays are in March, April & May, and my parents birthday days are also in April and May, throw in St. Patty's day, Easter, Mother's day and our wedding anniversary and you've got yourself a 3-month long celebration! It's exhausting. But I LOVE it! If you saw my Chanel party post you'll remember that I came up with that theme while brainstorming for Bella's 4th birthday. I ended up deciding on a FLAMINGO theme for her party last year. I really wanted to do something with these hot pink ostrich feathers I'd been given (they were actually used for Bella's baby shower!). I thought a flamingo theme would be super cute and then it hit me-when a flamingo stands on one leg with the other bent up IT LOOKS LIKE A FOUR!!! I may or may not have jumped up and down and clapped my hands at this realization. ;) Here's the pics from Bella's 4th birthday. Only over a year after the party (I seriously don't know why it has taken me this long to post them. Something is wrong with me). I cut flamingos out of pink vinyl and put them on some of the chairs. See, it's a four! I made this bunting and stung it on a hot pink marabou boa Another one of my moms amazing cakes My mom made these cookies too! She even had my dad helping. Parties around here truly are a family affair! Here's the feathers that started it all :) The polka dot background is just wrapping paper from the dollar section at Target. We even made our own rock candy We had a DIY photo booth. I had props and a camera set up so guests could snap some cute photos. The kids loved it and I got some hilarious pics! I made these marquee letters out of foam board, poster board, spray paint and some string lights. SO easy! The birthday girl....a year ago. Thankfully she still has those round cheeks and sweet smile :) So, what did you think?? A HUGE thanks to the super talented Heather Fitch of Heather Fitch Photography. She took all the photos and really does an outstanding job! Thanks again Heather! I totally loved this party, but then again I love all parties! Do you have an upcoming event and need some help? I'm the girl for the job! Shoot me an email and let's chat about it. I hope you have a great Easter weekend and get to spend it celebrating with the ones you love most! Thanks for reading, Jessica
