**This listing is for the downloadable digital pattern only. UPDATE: The yarn which was used in this pattern has been discontinued, however, you may substitute and make it with any comparable #5 weight yarn. I've also had feedback that it turns out similar while holding just one strand of the Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick. This beginner friendly, oversized blanket sweater cacoon is made by knitting a basic rectangle on large needles while holding two strands of chunky Lion Brand Woolspun yarn together. It creates a squishy, loose, fairly heavy blanket like fabric using the stockinette stitch for the main portion and seed stitch for the edging. Buttons are attached for ease of wearing as well as to add a trendy touch. The stitches on the sweater are loose enough for the buttons to fit through, eliminating the need to knit button holes. A large, statement piece to cuddle up in all winter long! This is a one size fits most pattern. Modeled on a size small, drape will fit will vary for size large. **This pattern does not contain multiple sizes or pattern support on how to change the sizing that is stated. You will need: US Size 19 (15mm) 29” Circular Knitting Needles 8 skeins (127 yards/ skein - Total 1016 yards) of Lions Pride Woolspun Yarn in Linen 2 1 ¼ “ inch buttons of your choice Sewing needle and thread to attach buttons Scissors Tapestry Needle to weave in ends Skills needed: Knit and purl Gauge: Just under 2 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch Just over 2 ½ rows per inch Measurements: From end of arm to end of arm, measurement is approximately 40.5” inches *Note that the stockinette will curl in a bit at the arms. This measurement is when the stockinette is flat and uncurled From top of neck, to bottom of shrug, measurement is approximately 34” long All patterns are in English, using US crochet or knitting terms. My patterns often times include basic explanations and pictures rather than using standard crochet terms to make them easier to follow. I've always wrote more in "human terms" rather than strictly "standard crochet terms". Permission To Sell Finished Items. This is a conversion (with permission) of the incredible needle knit pattern 10 Stitch Blanket by Frankie Brown. Please visit her pattern page and consider donating to her charity as a thank you for this awesome pattern. This pattern can be made on any loom with at least 10 pegs. The only cautionary note about the loom, is that the opening will need to be large enough to bring part of the piece up and place back on the working peg. I would not suggest smaller than a 24 peg loom if you are going to be making a baby blanket or larger size. Please use yarn appropriate for your loom gauge. 7/14/2013: added clarification on how to work the corners. Be sure you have the latest file. 8/7/2013: There is now a video for this project. YAY. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSRwCha0-CA 02/09/2014: A revised document has been added. This document makes the pattern more closely resemble the original needle knit version. It includes changes to the edge, the join, and the corners and gives the piece a cleaner, more finished look. I have left the original version available for download as many people like it as well.

The Plaited Throw is an intermediate knit pattern that looks like dozens of woven knit braids coming together to make the coolest textured afghan. The free knit blanket pattern looks more like it was woven on a loom than stitched together on two knitting needles. This cool texture is created by twisting the stitches while you're working them, which requires some finesse, but is ultimately worth the trouble. This knit blanket is masterfully designed and super soft, which makes it the perfect throw for almost any room in your house.

This versatile blanket can be crafted with your preferred yarn and needles, offering a delightful way to repurpose odds and ends. The original design was knitted using Noro Kureyon on 5.5mm / US size 9 needles, requiring 14 balls of wool to achieve a generous size of approximately 107 x 122 cm / 42 x 48". Inspired by Elizabeth Zimmermann's baby blanket from The Opinionated Knitter, this pattern features L-shaped garter stitch strips joined together for a seamless finish.
