Estilo : Barroco Resumo da vida de Johannes Vermeer : 1632 - Nasce em Delft (Holanda), sendo batizado a 31 de outubro. 1651 - Seu opai adota o nome Van der Meer ou Vermeer. 1653 - Casa-se com Catherina Bolnes. 1663 - É visitado por Balthasar Monocoys, viajante francês que se assombra com o preço de seus quadros. 1669 - É nomeado vice-decano da corporação dos pintores de Delft. 1670 - Herda uma casa da sua mãe, recém falecida. 1672 - Breve estada em Haia, para vender quadros, na unica saída de Delft documentada. 1675 - Morre a 15 de Dezembro, deixando a família em dificuldades.
