I totally ripped this one off a German Sunday School lesson site. Anyways, I refined it so that you can make the least amount of cuts (in case you, like me, are in charge of preparing crafts beforehand.) This one teaches the story of Jesus healing the paralyzed man really well. As I said, I did rip it off a German site, but I added the verse in English at the top. You need: cardstock, scissors (or cutter), Exacto-Knife, and crayons (optional) First off, you want to cut the "ribbon" part away from the main part. You can do this with scissors...or you can do it with my new favorite office tool: The paper cutter! Cut one: Cut two: (Throw the right-hand portion away.) Next, stack all your "main portions" on top of each other so they are perfectly even. Then, very carefully, and with your non-dominate hand pushing down on the top of the stack (and your thumb out of the way!!!), pull the Exacto-Knife through all four cutting places. If your stack shifts during the cut, restack and press the stack harder with your non-dominate hand. Cutting through the stack like this kills several birds with one stone. First off, you can cut through 2-4 pieces of cardstock at a time--saving time. Secondly, you don't have to worry about cutting through to your table when you do it this way. Okay, here is how you thread the "ribbon" portion through. Remember to thread it through all four slits. The first scene you should see is the man being let down by his friends in the top window, and Jesus looking up in the bottom window. Keep pulling and you will see the man and Jesus interacting. Finally (and don't pull too hard here or you will have to re-thread!), you will see where Jesus healed the man who is now holding his bed. Template: The End!

Review: Last week we studied the baptism of Jesus. Jesus went to the Jordan River. He found John and wanted John to baptize Him. Jesus had never sinned, but He needed to show by example what God wants us to do. They went in the Jordan River and John baptized Jesus all the way under! Scripture is Matthew 4:1-11 Mark 1:12-13 Luke 4:1-13. After Jesus was baptized, He was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. It’s the desert. He will be tempted by Satan. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights. That means He didn’t eat … anything. Think about that! After that time, (40 days) He was hungry. Satan came to tempt Jesus. Discuss how He must feel, tired, hot, miserable, etc. #1 Satan said “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread Jesus told him that bread isn't the only thing that you need to live on, you need the Words of God also. #2 Satan took Jesus up into the Holy City and put Him at the top of the temple. He said “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down and let the angels save you” Jesus answered this time saying Again, do not tempt the Lord. (The Holy City is the highest point of the temple in Jerusalem) #3 Now Satan took Jesus up to a really high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world. Satan told Jesus that I will give You all these things if You will fall down and worship me. Well, Jesus answered by telling Satan to go away! You should only worship the Lord your God and only serve Him! Remember, this is our Bible scripture for today. One of the 10 commandments is You shall have no other gods before Me. (Exodus 20:3) Finally, Satan left Jesus and angels came and ministered to Him. Remember that Jesus said NO to temptation. He was weak, tired and hungry and could have given in, but He didn’t. God expects us not to sin and that means staying out of trouble and doing what our parents tell us to do. As I told the Bible lesson, I had the kids fill in their chart. I had everything cut, they just glued the parts on as we talked. Teacher's Answers (I printed this and used as my visual for the kids to work on their chart.) You can print it here. The student's worksheet has the printables to cut and glue in the correct order, and I told them to write NO very big in the last columns. You can print it here. The temptations: 1) stones to bread 2) jump from temple, have angels save Him 3) showed kingdoms from high mountain, will give to Him if He worships Satan Print worksheet here. Write-the-Room Jesus Review This is a short post with this Write-the-Room set of printables. I have seen these a lot on TPT and Pinterest and it is a great way to review or discuss the Life of Jesus. This can be used at the beginning of the study of His life to show the students some of what they will be learning about Jesus and to see what they know. Or, use them at the end of the study to review His life. Post the 12 cards around the room and let the students walk around with a clipboard and fill in the blanks on their corresponding numbered worksheet. I just had them write a key word, like birth, Disciples, parables, etc. The worksheet is available in color and black & white. I also included a set of the same visuals as cards. These cards can be used to shuffle, review or put in order. Or, they can be used for the student to tell you what the picture is about. It would be fun (especially for homeschooling) to hide these in different places for the kids to find and then put in order. Click here to download the Write-the-Room set for Jesus. I used this set at the end of our study of Paul in the book of Acts. It was fun for the kids because they were able to stand up and move around. I had clipboards and they wrote short notes as we talked about Paul. It was interesting to see what they remembered! You can see Paul here. Also, Moses is available. His life is here and the 10 Plagues is here.
This lesson contains highlights in the Life of Moses and is condensed since we are told so much about him. Each event is basically a paragraph with the general information. His information is found in Exodus and Numbers. The following posters and worksheets are included in the lesson and application pack. The lesson pack includes these posters and the cut and glue worksheet for the genealogy of Moses. The 10 Plagues are not discussed in depth. They are talked about in general with the other events that happened to Moses at that time. These posters can be used to show each plague. There is a list with and without graphics, a blank worksheet to write each plague and the last one to connect the number with the correct plague. This last set of worksheets review his life. This is a cut and glue the sequence timeline in the correct order. There is a completed teacher's worksheet with the basic event listed. This can also be printed for the students if the students are keeping a notebook. Click here to download the lesson pack. This includes the posters and worksheets. The visuals and pictures are below. Thank you to Boo AKA Cindy Boothe for permission to share this photo and idea for Moses and water from the rock. She used Betty Luken Bible felts for the background for this diorama and a tabletop fountain. They used a dowel rod/stick to let the children pretend to be Moses 'striking' the rock. Lesson: Jesus Victorious in Temptation 1. Story: Tell the story of Jesus' temptation based on Luke 4:1-13. Last week, what did we learn about Jesus? (He was baptised by John) After being baptised, Jesus was filled with Holy Spirit and was led to the desert. He prayed in the desert and didn’t eat anything for 40 days. There, the devil decided to tempt Him. The devil wanted Jesus to trust His own strength and abilities rather than trust God. First: the devil told Jesus: “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” How many of you have not eaten for 1 day? How did you feel? Yes, Jesus was very hungry too. But Jesus didn’t want to depend on His own strength and power to satisfy His hunger. He knew God would take care of Him and provide for Him. Jesus replied: “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’ Second: the devil took Jesus to a high place and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world. The devil said that he would give Jesus all the authority and splendour if Jesus would worship him. Jesus knew that God was the source of everything and He was the only one worthy to be worshipped. He said, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.” Third: The devil took Jesus to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here.” After all, the devil said, God had promised that His angels will protect Jesus. Jesus knew He didn’t have to do anything to prove that He was God’s son. God already told Him that He is God’s beloved son when He was baptised, remember? So Jesus said, “It is said, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” The devil realised that Jesus did not fall into temptation. Jesus had won! So the devil left Jesus, and God sent angels to minister to Jesus. 2. Lesson: Good News for today! Jesus was tempted by Satan, and He was victorious. A long time ago, the first man, Adam, was tempted by Satan in the Garden of Eden. Does anyone know how the devil tempted Adam? (to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil) Adam wanted to be like God, to be able to know good and evil. He didn’t want to depend on God; he wanted to use his own wisdom. He was tempted, and he failed. Because of Adam’s failure, all of us became sinners and are separate from God. Because of Jesus’ victory, all of us are righteous before God and can have a relationship with Him. Because of Jesus, we have victory over temptation too! We can stand firm on God’s truths and promises whenever the devil tries to tricks us into believing his lies. Memory verse: “Jesus was tempted in every way, like us, yet was without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15b) Let’s thank Jesus for what He has done for us! 3. Activity ideas: a. Craft: Victory Medal Prepare some yellow card paper and ribbon. Cut yellow card into circles. Write "name of child is victorious in Jesus!" on it. Staple ribbon onto circle so that child can loop it over their neck like a gold medal. b. Activity Sheet: Match & Colour c. Activity Sheet: Fill in the blanks ***** Youth Bible Study Leader's Guide Jesus Tempted in the Wilderness 1. Read Luke 4:1-13. 2. After Jesus was baptised, he was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for 40 days. He ate nothing during those days and was hungry. 3. The devil wants to tempt Jesus to trust in His own strength and abilities than to trust in God. Temptation #1: Turn stones into bread The devil wanted Jesus to use His own power to satisfy His hunger. But Jesus knew God would take care of Him and provide for Him. He said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’” Temptation #2: Worship me and I’ll give you all the kingdoms of the world. The devil lied that he had authority of the world. But Jesus to knew that God was the source of everything and He was the only one worthy to be worshipped. He said, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.” Temptation #3: If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from the temple, and God’s angels will protect you. Jesus knew He didn’t have to do anything to prove that He was God’s son. God already told Him that He is God’s beloved son when He was baptised, remember? So Jesus said, “It is said, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 4. Write down your memory verse: Heb 4:15 “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet he did not sin” 5. Who was the first man God created, and how was he tempted by the devil? Adam was tempted by the devil in the Garden of Eden to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil — the only tree God said he could not eat from. Adam wanted to be like God, to be able to know good and evil. He didn’t want to depend on God; he wanted to use his own wisdom. He was tempted, and he failed. 6. What were the consequences of this man’s actions? (cref Rom 5:17) Because of Adam’s failure, all of us became sinners and are separate from God. “For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many.” 7. What were the consequences of Jesus’ victory over Satan? Heb 5:18-19: Jesus was victorious over Satan’s temptation, and through His death for us, we are all righteous and justified before God. 1 Cor 10:13: Because Jesus was victorious in temptation, I can also be victorious in temptation. Let’s thank Jesus for what He has done for us!
