Each temple has stories about its unique construction plans and opposition faced along the way. Accompanying these stories are miracles that manifest the Lord's own way of making sure everything pieces together for His holy temples. Here are six inspiring examples.

2024 Primary-Book of Mormon Come, Follow Me. From the creators of the original "Primary Kit." Bulletin Board, primary room decor, presidency helps, etc.
Play the Mormon family feud with your church ward or youth with this game night activity. We surveyed 100 (or thousands of) people and have the top answers, and everything else you need, for you to have a fun game night with your LDS friends. Years ago, when I was working on my Internship for my Recreation Management degree I worked for a Math and Science boarding school. The kids came to the school from all around the state and stayed in dorms to live during the school year. It was my job to come up with activities and games for these kids to do on the weekends. One of our most popular activities was a Family Feud game. Nineteen years have passed since that activity, and I've been wanting to find a way to play it again. When I was told I was going to be in charge of the Young Men and Young Women activity at the end of the year for the youth in our church, I decided now was the time to go for it. Thanks to you wonderful readers, our Family Feud questionnaire has been taken Many, many times. I posted the answers a few weeks ago, but we finally had our activity this month, I wanted to give you the final results and the Power Point presentation if you want to play too. Setting Up: I showed up to set up for the game night a few hours early, but it only took me maybe a half hour to get everything ready to go. We played in one half of the gym and used all the church's tables and chairs for the setup. For the buzzers, I borrowed two of the pieces from the Buzz Word game. Originally I had hoped to have two different types of buzzers so you could hear the difference when the answer was close, but we just borrowed what we had. It didn't end up being a problem anyway. For the score cards, I cut out six sets of numbers 0-9 on a half sheet of card stock. I used some card holders that a friend of ours made for our Hand and Foot games, but you could use something like these Playing Card Holder Curved Wood if you don't want to get too creative. We did find a problem in that the scores for the rounds were about 750 each, so the score quickly went into the thousands. So you may consider that when trying to figure out what to use. The Food: I did a whole post yesterday on the food ideas that we used, so you may want to check that out, especially if you are looking for table cards for your game night food ideas. I let the kids eat while we were playing, so there was a lot of getting up and down during the game. It made things a little chaotic, so you may want to consider that, but I think it also added to the fun and liveliness of the game. Teams: We ended up with 21 kids at our activity, so we divided up into teams of 3. I just let the kids pick their own teams, which may not have been the best idea. It ended up being the Beehives and Deacons again the MiaMaids and Teachers against the Laurels and Priests. So it was a little lopsided as you can guess. We let the Beehive/Deacon team play against the MiaMaid/Teacher team. The winner then played the Laurel/Priest Team. The winner of that chose two players to play the Lightening Round. Playing The Game Most of the kids had no idea how to play the game. So when I set up the game, I made a round that was super easy and we played that one as a group so the kids could learn how to play. (We used slide number 11.) My Dear Hubby played Pat Sajack and I ran the game projector. I made a list of the questions for him with the slide number at the top, so he always knew what the next question was. For me, I made a list of all the slides with the answers numbered down the side. This way, when the kids answered something, I could look at my list and know which number I needed to click. We let each game last 5 questions. At the end of those slides, the winner stayed and the other team was replaced by the last team. Then we played another 5 questions. The game set up is pretty awesome in that all you have to do is click on the answer and it will be revealed just like in the TV game. It also has the X buzzers and sounds. If you've never played with power point before, I recommend running through it a few times to familiarize yourself with all the fun features, since it's a little crazy during the game when you start goofing up. Lightening Round: For the Lightening round, we showed the last slide with all the "number revelers" up, so you could just see the blank lines. As the questions were asked and answers, I wrote the answers on the white board. When that player was done, we hid the white board behind another one and I listened and wrote the answers down below the first answer. After they were all done, I referred to my answer book and we went through each questions again. I wrote the score for both answers and if they didn't get the #1 answer, we let everyone in the audience guess what it was. We really had a good time with this game and the kids have already asked for more like it. So you may see more LDS versions of different game shows in the future. (maybe...) If you're looking to play the game yourself, you can find the original questionaire here. The answers are here: And the power point game with all eleven rounds and the blank Lightening round is here. If you end up playing this, please let me know how it goes!

Below you will find everything you need to put on a Battle of the Sexes Combined Youth Activity... It was our turn as a Beehive class to plan the combined youth activity and our theme for the month, was Divine Nature. So, we thought, why not play a friendly game of Battle of the Sexes LDS Youth Style!! Here's what we did... Before hand, print off the Question Cards, Challenge Cards, Headers, and gather your supplies. (Printables can be found near the bottom of the page, by clicking the Click Here Download button) How the game is played... Purpose of the activity: To help the youth understand that each of God’s children have a Divine Nature, that man and women were created in the image of God and each are vital to His plan. Ending goal, is although different from each other, we can compliment each other and work as a partnership to each reach our Divine Destiny. Begin with spiritual message: In the Family a Proclamation to the World it states, “ALL HUMAN BEINGS—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny.” Today we are going to play a little Battle of the Sexes game to test what you know about the opposite sex and some skills that will help us reach our divine destiny. Split into Young Women vs. Young Men groups. On the board write YW on one side of the board and YM on the other side of the board. In the middle place the Question cards and Challenge cards with number side up. Explain the game: The purpose of the game is to test what you know about the opposite sex! Question cards and Challenge Cards each worth 10 points. Questions Cards: If you choose a question card you will be given a question either about personal progress or duty to god or the roles stated in the Family Proclamation. One team will be asked a question at a time. You will be given 30 seconds to answer the question. If you get the question correct you get 10 points. If you answer the question incorrectly the other team has the opportunity to answer the question correctly for 5 points. (Answers to the questions can be found by clicking the Free PDF click here button down towards the bottom of the page) Challenge Cards: If you choose a challenge card then you will be given a minute to complete a task. Whichever team completes the task first in the minute will receive 10 points. To Play the Game: Choose which team will be the first to pick a card. Have that team pick a card, it can be either a challenge card or a question card. If it is a question card then each team has 30 seconds to answer their question. Each team will be asked a question, one at a time and be given their allotted 30 seconds to answer. No phones may be used in the game, this is just off of what is in their head. For example the YM will be asked their question and given 30 sec to answer. After they have answered and if they answered correctly. Then the YW will be asked their question and given 30 sec. If they answer their question correctly then they will receive 10 points. If they answer incorrectly than the other team can answer it for 5 points if they answer correctly (they will be given 30 sec to answer.). If they choose a challenge card, then each team will choose one Young Women and one Young Man to come up. (Once you are chosen to come up you can not be chosen to come up again) The challenge is then read to both the young man and young women and they are given 1 minute to complete the task. Whoever completes the task first in the minute will receive the 10 points. If no one completes the task then, no points are awarded. If they tie, then both teams receive the points. Close the activity, by explaining that we are each divinely created by a loving Heavenly Father. Men and women are both essential to His plan and that we can complement each other and work together to reach our divine potential and destiny. Share your testimony and close with a prayer. Refreshments, we just had some good old chocolate chip cookies! Challenges: (See the Challenge Cards in the printable for more information) A Young Man and a Young Women will receive a plate, chopsticks and 12 tic tacs. A Young Man and a Young Woman will receive two hearts each. They will need to place one heart down, step on it, place the other heart down, step on it and pick the other heart up and place it down in front of them and so on, until the reach the finish line. A Young Man and a Young Woman will each receive 12 cups to stack, they can stack them how ever they would like, the goal is to have the highest cup tower. Give a Young man and a Young woman a doll. They will need to fully dress the doll, to receive the points, even the shoes one and buttons done up ;) A Young Man and a Young Woman will each receive a cup, a straw and 40 marshmallows each. A Young Man and a Young Woman will receive a toy car and a straw. We raced on the table, first to the end of the table won. If the car went off the table before the finish they had to go back to start. A Young Man and a Young Woman received a container, place 5 feet away from them and 7 plastic golf balls or ping pong balls. A Young Man and a Young Women each had to place a cookie on their forehead and try to get it into their mouths with out using their hands. Sunbeam Lesson 17: I am Thankful for My Hands We had a lot of fun today! We talked about our hands and everything they can do and feel. On half a piece of cardstock (landscape) I typed My Hands Can Feel Many Things! at the bottom and on the other side I typed My hands are unique! I cut the sheet in half. During class I traced their hands on each of the pieces. On the paper that talked about feeling things we glued things they could touch/feel. I just searched the house to find things I already had that were of different texture. Here is the one I made ahead of time: I cut the items at home so we could just glue them on (their hands are tiny, you need small pieces-smaller than I thought - I had to trim most of them). I also brought my hot glue gun to help them stick better. Each finger had an item glued on and I found so many I put two more on the palm. I ended up with felt, sandpaper, furry materiel, boa, cotton ball, bubble wrap, aluminum foil. They loved to feel the different items. With the other hand we talked about how each hand is unique. I used a stamp pad to put their fingerprints on this hand (don't forget the baby wipes): Those hands went in a gallon Ziploc baggie: I placed a label on it so the parents knew what our lesson was all about: In the bag I also included other things they can do with their hands: Bubble wrap. I also gave them a smaller piece to pop in class. We did that during the lesson and then they had the large piece in their bag to pop at home. This hand I printed off my Primary Partners CD. It is double sided and glued together like a mitt. We eat with our hands so they had goldfish crackers: And I found this cute worksheet that they color with their hands (link at end of post with the downloads). I forgot to add it before I took pictures, but clay (or play dough) was in there too. The kids loved doing everything with their hands and taking home a bag of things to do. Our lesson and making the hands filled the time, but if you had extra time they could color one of the sheets during class. If you choose to download, please become a follower first (on the right). I'm happy to share my creations with my followers. If you would like to leave a comment too that would totally make my day! Discovery My Source of Strength--ending the downward spiral. Grasping the arm of someone greater in the moment you feel yourself sinking!
Hello! It's Kendall (future-missionary)! Last month I met with my Bishop and started working on my "mission papers" (online mission application). I still haven't submitted my "papers" yet, but I'm part-way done and I'm getting closer. Sometimes there are things you need to work on that take longer than planned (for some people, it's worthiness issues that need to be resolved over time. Others might be waiting until they have saved a certain amount of money. Others might need to get health issues under control before they submit their papers. Some people just have to wait until a certain date to make sure they are old enough - there is a limit to how early you can submit your papers. Basically, there are a lot of things that need to line up just right before the paperwork can be submitted). I don't turn 19 until the end of the year, and I hope to be able to submit my mission papers in the next few months and be out in the field at the end of the year or early 2019. Meanwhile, there is a lot of waiting. But there are a lot of things that need to be done (like the usual stuff- dentist appointments, etc). There are also a lot of other things that many people don't think about doing until after they receive their mission call (like picking out the scripture for your mission plaque or setting up a mission blog). I made a list of everything I could think of that needs to be done before I leave for the MTC that CAN be done before I have my mission call. Obviously, I can't start packing or buy mission-specific clothes yet, but there are still a lot of things that I can do without knowing where I will serve. To avoid getting depressed about things that I can't do yet because I don't have my papers in yet, this list is ONLY for things that can be done before my call arrives. Many of these things I've listed could wait until after I (finally) get my mission call, but I feel like any detail I can take care of now will make things less-stressful for me later AND doing some of these things now makes me feel like I'm not just sitting around doing nothing. I made a list of everything that I could think of that CAN be done between now and when I get my mission call. Your list may be different (depending on your preferences and what you have or haven't already done)...I didn't put "get a passport" or "get wisdom teeth removed" on my list because I already did those things earlier this year. My mom has a blog post about 15 things you can do while you're waiting to submit your mission papers and a lot of my ideas came from that post ("Starting your Mission Papers? 15 Things to do While You're Waiting for Your Call" which you can read HERE) - so you should check that out, because there are more ideas on there that I didn't put on my list (only because I already did them). b Here is my list (I hope this helps you come up with your own list!): __Temple Prep Class (last class for me was this past Sunday. I had to miss it because I had a council meeting, but I got the ok from my home ward Bishop, so we're good!) __Dental Appointment (I have a cavity that needs to be filled, appointment coming up) __Have dentist fill out dental paperwork __Renew my limited-use temple recommend (mine just expired) __Meet the BMI/weight requirements for a missionary (more info HERE) __Make small family photo album to show investigators/members __Make small personal family/friend photo album for myself __Print my pedigree chart __Practice sewing repairs (fix a hem, sew on a button, patch a hole, etc) __Set up a missionary blog __Meet with Bishop (monthly) __Make a list of my usernames/passwords/PIN#s __Make exercise plans for mission __Take a mission photo (for mission application) __Take missionary photos (for farewell invites, blog, social media, etc) __Take family group photos __Pick out the scripture for my mission plaque __Study Preach My Gospel __Memorize the headings in Preach My Gospel (more about this HERE) __Memorize Doctrine & Covenants Section 4, The Missionary Purpose, My Missionary Commission, The Standard of Truth, and the First Vision (free printables & more about this HERE) __Make a list of my favorite things (treats, etc) to leave for my parents (in case they want to send care packages) __Laminate pamphlets (A missionary serving in our Stake had a set of handouts that were laminated for his own use during lessons, etc. I want to have a set!) __Make & laminate a Plan of Salvation visual aid* __Schedule final doctor appointment to get medical paperwork done __Read the standard works (Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price) __Put together a useful sewing kit (only things I would need) __Put together a useful first aid kit __Make a list of what mission clothes/supplies I already have __Make a list of what mission clothes/supplies I know I still need (so far) *You MAY want to wait to make a plan of salvation visual aid. Some missions are stricter than others about creating your own visual aids and/or what they look like. And you might not be in an English-speaking area, so if you make a set with English words on it, that won't be much help.
Often our experiences during the sacrament service seem quite ordinary. However, partaking of the sacrament is one of the most important and sacred ordinances in which we can participate. Here are four ways we can get more from the sacrament and "always remember him and keep his commandments. . . that [we] may always have his spirit to be with [us]" (D&C 20:77-79).
