Now if you've been following my blog posts this week, you'll have seen the Layers of Beauty bundle on 3 previous cards. They all used the largest image of the set, along with some die cutting and even a little masking. Today is different! Using only the masks with inks and Blending Brushes, I created this: L.O.V.E.! Such realistic flowers! I feel like an artist...but all I did was carefully line up the masks (5 of them in all) and use Blending Brushes with inks to create this beautiful panel! Look at the detail and the depth of color! Gorgeous! I started with Lemon Lolly and the #1 mask, which colors the light part of the flowers. Then, with Mask #2, I added some Daffodil Delight ink. And for the smallest, darkest details, I used Crushed Curry. The leaves were done in Granny Apple Green with Garden Green details. I mounted the main panel on Garden Green cardstock, then onto a Thick Basic White base with triangles of Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight to pull out the colors. Feel like an artist! Grab the Layers of Beauty bundle on May 1st and and start your art journey! I thought it was a bit of a tough challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches this week. However, since I kept thinking about the combination I decided to have a go and see what happened. Since I quite liked the result, I'm sharing it after all. 😀 I had my new Layers of Beauty stamps, along with the coordinating Layers of Beauty masks on my desk from their first play out of the box yesterday. I had a different idea in my head but somehow I couldn't go past using them again. I used Pool Party and Lost Lagoon for the flowers, then soft Pebbled Path and a second layer of the same for the leaves. The sentiment, stamped in Pebbled Path, is from the new Unbounded Love stamp set. Update: Delighted to be named as a Fabulous Favourite at CAS Colours & Sketches. If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. You can leave a message in the comments or contact me using any of the methods listed in the Contact Me tab at the top of the page. You can shop with me from anywhere in New Zealand here.

Happy Thursday! I'm back for this month's Team O challenge at the TicTacToe Challenge. This board had so many possibilities it was hard to choose. Since Mother's Day is coming up I decided to go with a feminine card that I could give to my mother-in-law. I played the diagonal - plaid, stenciling, twine. If for some reason I decide to give her a different one (I have four more Mother's Day cards to make) I can use this for a birthday card as I have not stamped the sentiment yet. I have started to leave sentiments off the front of cards unless they are for an obvious reason - for example a birthday cake. This allows me a bit of latitude so I'm ready for a last minute card. And if I leave a bit more white space (and by that I mean uninterrupted area) I can add a sentiment to the front with a sentiment strip or die cut label or word. I love that this set comes with dies and stencils for coloring. The layered stencil trend is one I really enjoy over layered stamping. For me it is much easier to line up the stencils and the trick to even color is a light hand. It is better to keep adding layers to get depth of color than to try and put pressure on the brush. And always start your brush moving BEFORE you get to the open part of the stencil. You can start it on the stencil itself or on the paper outside the stencil if that is a waste area. Thanks to all of your suggestions when I asked you how you would use Basic Beige ... there were 48 suggestions and I think the most popular suggestion was to use Basic Beige with 'no line watercoloring'.. I thought that was brilliant!! Since I am really NOT good at no line watercoloring, I thought to adapt that to 'no line stenciling'. That's what I shared during my live video yesterday, and today we'll check out more details. Missed the live? Watch the replay at the bottom of this post. Thank you for joining me on Thursday evening for my Weekly Live on YouTube. The new bundle, Layers of Beauty was used to create three projects. If you missed the live presentation, you can catch the replay below. To create the cards, I started with Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper that was lightly spritzed with water. Next, the coordinating stencils were used to add the ink onto the paper. After all five stencils were used, I stamped the outline with Memento ink for the finishing touch. Unfortunately, from time to time, I have to send a sympathy card. It is always
