W.H Bartlett 1842 Antique Steel Engraved Hand Coloured Print "Brockville St. Laurence" St. Lawrence. Mapped by W.H Bartlett, a British artist best known for his drawings rendered into steel engravings by R. Wallis. Both named on print. Born 1809 became one of the foremost illustrators of topography travelling the world including 4 visits to North America. He died in 1854 returning from his last trip to the Near East of a fever on board the French Steamer "Egyptus" off the coast of Malta. Full frame 13.75" x 11.25" Measures 7.25" x 4.75" comes professionally framed. Nothing on the back as pictured. Some light wear on paper back, wood frame laminated. Amazing history on link below. Bound in publisher's green cloth, beautifully stamped in gilt, all edges gilt, in dust jacket repeating the design. Fine, with light bruising to cloth at spine ends, offsetting to endsheets. Dust jacket with a small chip at the head, else Fine. A beautifully illustrated edition of Rossetti's narrative poem originally published in 1862, re-imagined through Laurence Housman's Art Nouveau illustrations.
