You just never know if you will win, who knows maybe this is your lucky time. Go to my previous post and scroll down to enter or just click here to get you there. Today's post will be nice and short. We worked on land forms and made an anchor chart together. They each made a land form poster and they came out cute! And something waaaaay off topic. I left this cute little surprise in our fridge for my husband. Can't wait to see his reaction when he open the fridge door. And of course I added something sarcastic in the end hehe. There is nothing more awkward than walking in a store with beer in your hand and trying to hide from possible students. I'm pretty sure many teachers can relate! HA!

Hello Everyone! One wonderful perk about the 15 hour drive home? I was able to put the finishing touches on my Landforms unit. This unit is coming up in our curriculum, so I'm glad I had time to organize and put everything together. This mini unit includes almost 70 pages of learning centered around exploration of landforms. There are some social studies activities (of course), some ELA (abc order, vocabulary, antonyms, written expression), some math, and a couple of craft connections. I hope you can use even a small part of this. Here are a few pics of the unit. Landforms book inspired by AIMS curric. Unit includes patterns! mystery picture includes clues with mixed math practice If you are interested, please click here for your free unit! Well, spring break is almost over. I have missed my kids so much!! Can't wait to see them! But that's going to have to wait one extra day as I have jury duty tomorrow. Thank goodness for a wonderful substitute teacher who just so happens to be a dear friend. My kids are in good hands!! Next up? Natural resources and geometry units! Stay tuned!! As always, thanks for taking time to take a peek! I appreciate each and every one of you!! Take care! Joyfully! Nancy
Landforms and bodies of water felt models for montessori lessons. Along with felt pieces, there are also 11 laminated felt backed labels to describe the landforms and water bodies. These include: Landforms lake system archipelago straight isthmus peninsula gulf cape bay lake island This set is simple enough for preschoolers and detailed enough for use within home school or early elementary classrooms. The laminated labels can be used for memory recall or as sight words. Included: 10 felt landforms and water bodies 11 felt backed laminated labels Check out our other listings to see more! We also have an ever growing science series including felt board sets on geography, space and biology. Twig and Daisy felt board sets do not have adhesive or hook and loop tape on the back of the pieces. I only use soft felt and it happens to contain a little bit of magic. Felt sticks to felt even on a vertical surface which is really cool! Adding hook and loop tape will actually ruin your felt board adding picks and making it look worn well before it's time. Pin It Maps are seriously cool. We ordered the Land and Water forms set for my beginner readers, ages 6 and 8; my goodness, the pin map has quickly become a favorite activity. There is some assembly involved -- but there's no need to be intimidated. I roped in my sweet hubby to help me tape the labels to the pins then thread the posts and stab the little flags onto the bases. I want to say this set took about 45 mins to assemble. I was mighty excited. May explain the blur of the photo. Woohoo! I have conquered the map. Sail around the world and stick a flag in it. No flag, no country. You can't have one. That's the rules I've just made up. Now what's extra super groovy is the freebies section on the site. I proceeded to download, cut, laminate, cut again, and make flip books plus three part cards to accompany the maps. This took considerably longer than 45 mins. This took me several hours over the course of several days. You may already have landform cards in which you can skip this step. But I was pretty smitten with how the cards came out. Action shot. To use, my kids match the flag to the flip book chart we made, then locate via picture the location on the map. We started with just a small handful of water pins at first; these have blue flags while the landforms have yellow flags. The water form pins correspond to blue dots on the map. The landforms have yellow dots -- it's all very well thought out and easy to use for the lower elementary set. There's a control map that comes with the set as well. Every few days I've added about 5-10 new pins of one color. Not only does this keep the material new and challenging, it sets the kids up for success because there are familiar terms in addition to the new ones; that allows them to learn through repetition. My kids opt to work with these materials daily. It's not drudgery -- it's all fun, independent, hands on learning. Homeschooling really doesn't get better than this.
