Hey-o!!! This beautiful Saturday, I'm bringing you a pattern for George the Goose. George came about because a) I've been really wanting to create a toy for my son b) his nickname is goose and c) I've never created a toy in my 15 plus years of crocheting! For some reason I've just never
Well.. after weeks of talking about baby knits on my podcast, I think it is HIGH TIME that I actually share them with you here on the blog! As you know, I've been preparing for the arrival of our baby boy due in less than a month! I've knit several baby things but have been too busy to blog about them. SO.. over the next few weeks, prepare to see a lot of tiny baby, knitted, cuteness. There is a lot to catch up on! First up.. Baby Sophisticate. Maybe the fastest, cutest newborn sweater EVER? This is one awesome pattern that you can find for free on Ravelry HERE. I knit the whole sweater and a matching hat in just a few days using only one skein of Malabrigo Worsted in the taupe colorway. I used Kate Oates Adventure Hat pattern from her new book Math For Hats. It turned out great! Perfect future baby shower present? I think so!

"Der var 1, der var 2, der var 3, der var fire, der var 5 på cykeltur...",sang vi engang, og selv om Tour de France er overstået for i år, kan der jo godt tænkes i cykler:som bort, som flademønster... til tasker, trøjer, tørklæder osv. Lidt spil med garn og mønstre: Sjovt og hyggeligt! Næsten lidt hønsestrik-agtigt, -og med dejlig plads til lidt ekstra leg!! Godt at gå ind for pedalkraft!

I was fixing the sleeves of an old jacket today, at least one sleeve, I kept the other one for tomorrow :) I had a look for the technique at my Thérèse de Dillmont book (my bible:) and they call it 'Swiss darning'; in the example above you can see how to fix a hole in a knitted cloth, which was fortunately not the case with me, I only had to reinforce the stitches. Tomorrow I will use more shades of brown to make the darning look a bit like a landscape. an awesome technique to repair socks. Found a book about camouflage in the thrift some time ago; the creature on the bottom pic is a Texas horned lizard. the one on the front is a frog; cool :) I'm hooked on Milk Oolong lately. Here’s one that I think every little man AND every little lady should have :) Shawl collars are always nice and cozy under a coat -- especially for children who, like mine, adamantly reject scarves… Designed to be relatively close-fitting, this sweater won’t add bulk under a jacket. The twisted rib detail and a fun (and easy!) texture stitch add a bit of sophistication. Comfort and style! ~~~ This sweater is knit seamlessly from the top down. First it is worked flat, then stitches for the neck placket are cast on and the sweater is then worked in the round. Stitches are picked up around the neckline to work the shawl collar, which is knit flat using short rows. The bottom edges of the collar are sewn onto the body. The sleeves are worked in the round. Skills required: long-tail cast on, knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, picking up stitches, working short rows (explanations provided,) twisted stitches (i.e., ktbl and ptbl: link to video tutorial provided). ~~~ To fit chest: 16 (17, 18, 19 // 21, 23, 25, 26.5) inches or 40.5 (43, 46, 48 // 53.5, 58.5, 63.5, 67.5) cm. Inspired by my favorite character from The Babysitter’s Club, this funky multi-color pullover is definitely a statement piece. The open grid-like construction keeps this crochet sweater airy and drapey while the bulky weight yarn makes it a quick and easy project.
