For a house that speaks volumes, make clever and thrifty use of words with these tips from Country Living.
Valmis! Rasiaa voi käyttää vaikka säilytykseen tai lahjapakettina. Tässä polymeerimassasta tehdyt helmet testisisältönä. Jee! Olen sangen tyytyväinen lopputulokseen, näitä teen lisää!

Kääretorttu on nopea ja herkullinen leivonnainen, josta riittää syötävää isommallekin porukalle. Osa jauhoista kannattaa olla tärkkelyspitoisia, esimerkiksi perunajauhoja, sillä pelkillä vehnäjauhoilla leivottu pohja repeilee herkästi. Kääretorttu on helppo tehdä myös gluteenittomana.
I like the pages of old books, and enjoy working with them a lot, but what I really LOVE is the hardcovers! So today we are advancing the Old Book Crafts into making an Accordion Organizer :-D Ho…
A hollowed-out hardback book can turn into a safe to keep trinkets and valuables out of plain sight. Store it with the other books on your [bookshelf](http://www.ehow.com/how_12340585_build-decorate-bookshelf-8-creative-ideas.html) to blend in seamlessly with your decor.
What do you get for the intelligent, literary and stylish woman in your life? How about a purse made from a book? This summer after making placemat purses I found a book showing how to make all sorts of creative totes and bags, including a purse made from a hardcover book. Yes, yes I know I don't need another purse but this one was so cute I couldn't resist. It's Designer Style Handbags by Sheri Haab and I've had fun making several of the purses it describes, including the woven ribbon purse that I mentioned in my "My Collections" post. If you can get past tearing up an old book then this could be the craft for you. No sewing skills required--well almost none, just three small straight stitches. You will need: * Fabric glue such as Sobo * 1 yard of fabric as lining * An old book, cloth bound and the thicker the better * 1 yard of ribbon or chain for straps * 4 "D" rings if desired (you can instead glue the straps directly on the purse) * Any embellishments you'd like such as the wide grosgrain ribbon, bow and broach * Paper, scissors, pencil, ruler, thread and a sewing machine 1. First pick the right book. I found irony in choosing Ulysees by James Joyce. First, because I think it's highly tragic that it was chosen as the best book of the 20th century, second because it's unintelligible and third because what is intelligible is junk. (Sorry, I'm sure there are other opinions out there but I'm just an old-fashioned, Edition Wharton-loving girl). But whatever book you choose, get one with a cloth cover. The other nice thing about my book is that it's long (ergo wide), in nearly-new condition and is a lovely cream color that matches everything. 2. Cut the book from its cover. Using a razor blade, gently cut the pages from the cover along the spine on the inside of the front and back cover, being careful not to cut into the cover. When you're done you'll have only an empty cover. 3. Make the pattern for the side panels. Measure the width of the cover (to be the height of the panel) and the width of the spine. Then for the upper width of the panel measure approximately four inches across and then give half an inch of seam allowance all around the pattern. See the photo at left. 4. Form the side panels. Using a piece of fabric that has been folded in half, wrong sides together, and your new pattern cut two side pieces on the fold by laying the top edge of the pattern along the fold. Sew each piece along the three open sides with 1/2" seam allowance then clip the bottom corners to make 3/8" notches on each side (see photo at right). 5. Reinforce the spine. Laying the book cover open in front of you, glue the 1/2" notched end of each fabric panel to each end of the spine. Cut a strip of cardboard that will fit inside the spine and glue it in the spine over the top of the panel edges (see photo at left). 6. Create the lining. Measure the exact dimensions of the book cover plus 1/4" all around. Press under 1/4" seam allowance and glue it onto the book cover at each end of the spine so it is still unattached along the rest of the cover (see photo at right). 7. Make the handle attachments. Fold four pieces of grosgrain ribbon over four "D" rings and glue the ribbon edges to the inside covers of the book in the spots where the handles should go (see the photo at left). You don't have to use handle attachments, you could use ribbon that is glued directly onto the cover where you see the handle attachment in the photo. The "D" rings merely give it a more professional look. 8. Glue the side panels and lining to the cover. Close the cover part way and glue the side panels in place along each edge. Use binder clips to hold things in place while they dry (see photo at right). Then glue the rest of the lining to the cover, making sure that it is glued all the way to the edge, and again secure it with binder clips at the corners until it is dry. 9. Add handles and embellishments (if desired). Attach the chain or ribbon handles and decorate the outside cover however you'd like. I made a bow out of matching ribbon and sewed an old brooch of my great-grandmother's onto the bow before gluing it in place with fabric glue on a wide strip of ribbon running around the cover. If you want to have that same ribbon strip on yours, you'll need to glue it lightly in place around the cover with fabric glue and glue the ribbon edges down over the inside cover before completing step 8. This listing is for 20 Mini Custom Map Luminary Bags. You choose city, state or country! Maybe somewhere you have always dreamed of going together, or a keepsake from a special trip, honeymoon or your wedding! Choose size on drop down menu and cutout shape. These luminaries were fashioned using a vintage world atlas! I will be creating your order from the original atlas pages. Rich colors, very colorful and there are maps on every surface, on the outside, inside, sides and bottoms of these bags! I will do whatever states or countries you wish! I can do them with or without the bride and groom image* just let me know what you prefer when you checkout. If you want more than 1 update quantity or check my travel themed shop section for packages. I offer my handmade luminary bags in 3 sizes. Mini, small and large. Large are closest to a traditional luminary bag size. Luminaries are used to line aisles and create pathways. They’re also used as table centerpieces for parties, events and weddings. My luminaries are safe and flameless. Since they are only recommended for use with fake battery operated led candles they are safe for wedding venues and homes. None of my listings come with the led candles but I do sell them separately in my shop. You can find them inexpensive at local craft stores (michaels, joann fabrics, dollar tree) I recommend the tealite or votive size. All of my luminaries only have cutouts on the front sides of the bags so keep this in mind when coming up with your décor plan. This is how luminaries are traditionally made. They illuminate much better this way, and visually look nicer when you don’t see through to the other side. Mini are $8 each bag and approx. dimensions are 4”high, 3”wide, 1.5”deep handheld petit size Small are $12 each bag and approx. dimensions are 6-7”high, 4”wide, 2”deep Large are $18 each bag and approx. dimensions are 9”high, 6”wide, 2”deep (closest to a traditional luminary bag size) If you’d like a custom package of various sizes feel free to message me, I would be happy to create a custom order for you. Since everything is handmade by me alone and made to order I have lead times. Thank you for your patience. Lead time on 1-2 bags is 2 weeks, lead time on 5-10 bags is 3 weeks, larger packages and wedding orders have a lead time of 2 months. When I started a Kids Advisory Board this spring, I decided that part of every monthly meeting would be dedicated to some sort of service project that would give back to the branch. Last month, the kids helped create the memory game cards for our summer reading kick-off event. This month, our service project focused on readers' advisory--namely, kids making book recommendations for their peers. The idea for these Read Me! Blurb Bubbles came from a picture on a post on the RIF Blog earlier this year. I loved the idea of having brief descriptors hanging off of books on the shelves, catching browsers' attention and giving them a nudge toward great reads. I modified the concept for our KAB. Using Publisher, I created a one-page template that, when folded, results in a two-sided blurb bubble. Each bubble is printed with the words "Read me! I'm [...] This recommendation is brought to you by the Kids Advisory Board." KAB members filled in the blank portion of the blurb bubbles with a word (or two) describing their favorite reads, then we attached the blurbs on the respective books. Some of the blurbed books in this first go-round include Clementine ("funny"), Bridge to Terabithia ("fascinating"), and The Graveyard Book ("spooky"). My hope is that these blurb bubbles will do two things: a) encourage young readers to try a book recommended by their peers, and b) pique curiosity about the Kids Advisory Board, which is still in its early stages. I'd love to have more regular KAB members, and I'd love to have more kids involved in making the stacks more exciting to browse. Do you get kids involved in passive readers' advisory? What are you strategies for facilitating peer recommendations?

Taittele paperiarkit haitariksi. Sopiva taitoksen leveys on noin 1 cm, riippuen toki paperin paksuudesta. Taita haitareista kuvan mukaisesti enkelin siivet. Liimaa enkelit puoliskot yhteen ja kiinnitä samalla kiinnityslenkki noin 2 cm:n matkalta. Liimaa myös enkelit siivet kiinni vartalo-osaan. Purista osia tiukasti yhteen liimauksen varmistamiseksi (tarvittaessa puristimena voit käyttää pyykkipoikaa).
