The splendor of the Louis XV period is captured in this incredible settee by the famed ébéniste Jean-René Nadal l'Ainé (1733-1783). Beautifully upholstered in blue and white fabric that complements the white of the wood, the rare sofa reflects the change in style seen in France during the reign of King Louis XV. Relative to the flamboyant Rococo style of the Louis XIV period, furniture became lighter aesthetically in terms of both design and color. Highly ornamental yet elegant, the style evolved to look more feminine and subdued than in previous years, with an emphasis on curving lines. As evident in this set's majestic legs and back, elegant curves provide a romantic deviation from heave Baroque lines. Jean-René Nadal l'Ainé was renowned for his high quality and opulently carved furniture in the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. Born into an important cabinetmaking family, he quickly rose to prominence in his own right, becoming primarily a furniture maker for the Crown as well as for the Comte d'Artois. This exceptional settee, almost certainly made for a client of great importance, bears all of the hallmarks of this celebrated ébéniste. A similar armchair by Nadal that was once held at Versailles is currently in the collection of the Musée du Louvre. Signed "Nadal L'Aine" under upholstery Circa 1760 82 1/4" wide x 36" deep x 43 1/4" high
19th Century French Louis XV Settee ~ Sofa displays the grandeur and opulence of the Rococo style during one of its revivals of the Napoleon III era. The gracious, naturalistic form so favored by King Louis XV has been aptly expressed, with an arched seatback crowned with an heraldic crest flanked by floral and foliate sprays. The sprays lead the eyes to the scrolled and padded armrests, which blend into the seat framework comprised of a subtly undulating apron enhanced with shell and foliates, repeated on the scrolled legs. Reupholstered in a tone-on-tone blue Ralph Lauren fabric less

I am offering a beautiful, 1:12, JBM replica blue and gold upholstery settee. The settee has a walnut frame, straight legs with a stretcher and made on a birch frame. The settee is Jacobean in style. Jacobean was a popular style during the reign of King James I during the 17th century. Jacobean is a style considered traditional and came between the medieval style and the Renaissance. Its characteristics are the increasing use of curved lines, ornate carvings, and comfort. The style originated in England and spread to the early American Colonies. This lovely settee is a niece example of Jacobean style. The style is still popular and is considered Jacobean Modern. The settee would be an asset to a dollhouse, room box or part of a miniature collection of historic furniture. It would be a nice and thoughtful gift for a birthday or holiday such a Mother's or Father's Day. The settee measures 3.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 inches.
