It's not every day that your snack doubles as a science experiment! These Jell-O and marshmallow roll-ups are not only sweet, but they're also mesmerizing to watch. When the two treats get melted together, they form a foamy liquid. But as they set, the marshmallows float to the top, creating two distinct layers of Jell-O and marshmallow fluff. Talk about eye candy! For more fun treats, try our pigs in a bagel.
This edible craft, Eiffel Tower made of fresh fruits, can be a great and funny dessert to prepare with your kids and to make them discover Paris & France!
Remember two years ago? When the Summer Olympics were in London and all we could talk about was Ryan Lochte’s grill, Ursain Bolt’s very fitting name, and Gabrielle Douglas just impressing the crap out of us. Well get ready for a whole new round of inspiration of the snowier and colder variety. This year, you better believe we’ll be screaming, “USA! USA!” louder than ever. The 2014 Sochi Olympics is seeing the largest tribe of US athletes in history (230 superstars to be exact). And while favorites like Shaun White, Lolo Jones, and Patrick Kane will be showing up, we’re ready to throw one massive party for soon-to-be house hold names like ski jumping maniac Sarah Hendrickson, brother and sister hockey dream team Phil and Amanda Kessel, and the youngest ever member of the US men’s luge team, Tucker West. While they perform their hearts, we’ll be toasting them with food, drinks, and medal-worthy merrymaking. Enough talk. Let the party-planning games begin.

I planned all of the decor and festivities for my daughter's 6th grade class of 100 graduates. The theme was Glow in the Dark so everything had to glow or be neon! We held it at our local HOA clubhouse and decorated for 7 hours prior to the party! I made "chandeliers" out of cardboard, plastic flagging tape (from the hardware store), neon paper circles that I punched out in different sizes and sewed together on my sewing machine and a hula hoop from the Dollar Tree. I added a push light to the underside to help the colors glow. Total for each chandelier was about $6 and had a huge impact in the room. Isn't party set up glamorous! We lined all of the walls with black craft paper from Office Depot and painted dots on it with glow in the dark neon paint I got on Amazon.com. One crazy dad even climbed on the roof and blacked out the sky lights with the black paper! The fringed "curtains" are cut up plastic tablecloths from the Dollar Tree. They added a lot of color interest to the walls. Here are some moms modeling the glow in the dark glasses that were handed out to the kids as favors. A very nice dad hung up about 5 black light bars. I got them at Wal Mart for $10 each. I also made glow stick chandeliers with wire hanging planters turned upside down. I used the same wire planters as bases from the snowman party I hosted in December. They looked great all lit up! On the invitation, I requested that the kids wear neon or white. It really added to the whole feel of the party! The kids also received glow in the dark necklaces when they checked in and could go to a green screen photo booth all night and have fun with the props. They could each take home a printed photo for a favor as well. Dinner was hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, fruit and soda. I put together a 30 minute video of pictures that parents sent in of the students from kindergarten to 6th grade. The kids really loved it and I made 100 copies so they could take one home for themselves. Dessert consisted of cotton candy that I created on these amazing light up sticks. I drove an extra 3 hours round trip to pick them up and they were SO worth it! Neon in full effect! The kids also had a great time dancing to a DJ all night (another school dad was our awesome DJ) and played plenty of One Direction music! The kids also got to take home a can of silly string and we also had a raffle with giveaways from local merchants for movie tickets, frozen yogurt and mini golf. The kids had a great time and it was a wonderful send off for me since my family spent 11 years at that school and we are now moving on to jr. high!
We are very enthusiastic bucket fillers in our class! And on our 100th day of school today, I decided that we should celebrate 100 days of bucket filling with a fun and healthy snack! Here are the directions for you! I prepped the cups last night. You will need flexible plastic cups (I used 9 oz. size), hole punch, chenille stem (pipe cleaners), and a permanent marker. Begin by punching two holes across from each other at the top of the cup. Attach the chenille stem to make a handle. Draw a cute face on the front of the cup with the marker. Then it is time to fill it with goodness! We used vanilla yogurt colored with blue food coloring, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. Each student was able to cut up their fruit (with a plastic knife) and then put in on their yogurt. Then it was time to eat! And now for the freebie! Each day since the first day of school, I had the student helper of the day complete a bucket filling sheet. I have the student draw a picture of three things that they did to fill a bucket. You can also have them add the number for the day of school at the top. Today, on the 100th day, we compiled our class book 100 Days of Bucket Filling! Click on the picture to get your freebie!

Thanks to: BChsMamaof3 What you will need: 2 packages of Berry Blue Jello 2 cups of whipping cream 1/4 cup sugar 2 cups of ice parfait glasses or any clear containers that you can see through Start by placing your whipping cream in a large bowl, beat on high speed until just starting to thicken. As you continue to whip the cream slowly pour in your sugar, continue whipping cream until it forms super stiff peaks. You want to make sure that it is good and stiff so that if will hold it’s shape later in the jello. Keep chilled in fridge until needed. Now it’s time to get your jello ready. Pour 2 cups of boiling water into a large bowl and add both boxes of berry blue jello powder. Stir until all of the sugar has dissolved. Now you are going to add your 2 cups of ice, this is going to set up your jello nice and quick Stir the ice around in the bowl for about 5 minutes until the jello has thickened and remove any left over ice that didn’t melt. Your jello won’t be super thick like after it has set in the fridge but it will be jelled enough to scoop out on a spoon in a blobby form. Now the fun begins! Start by placing a few spoonfuls of jello in the bottom of your parfait glass, then take your whipped cream from the fridge and drop in a spoonful or two and press it against the side of the glass. This is going to form your cloud in the sky. Try not to smear any of the whipped cream where you don’t want a cloud, it will show up as streaks when you put more jello in so wipe away any unwanted marks. Continue layering the jello and whip cream alternating where you place your cream clouds so that you get a nice staggered effect. Voila! You’ve created a little chunk of sky in a glass and guess what…. it tastes fabulous!! Have fun making some of your own!
Sharing books, & baking in the kitchen are two of Minnie's favourite activities! Inspired by our outdoor Gruffalo Trail the other day we decided to combine a little baking with one of our favourite books & came up with these 'Gruffalo Cupcakes!' These are so simple to make & would be a great addition to any Gruffalo Party! To make the cupcakes we used 8oz of self raising flour 8oz soft butter 8oz of caster sugar 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder (optional) 50g (2oz) plain chocolate, melted 4 large eggs Method 1. Put all the ingredients, apart from the melted chocolate, into a large bowl & beat until smooth (we used an electric hand whisk). Beat in the melted chocolate. 2. Add the mixture to paper cases (we filled ours three-quarters full) 3. Bake in the oven at 180˚c for 15mins (until springy to touch) 4. Allow to cool on a wire rack To make the cupcake topping we used: 2 oz cocoa powder 8oz icing sugar / confectioners sugar 8oz of unsalted butter (softened) Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract 1 tablespoon of Milk (if necessary) Packet of Jelly Tots (any small round jelly sweet are ideal) Packet of chocolate buttons Packet of mini marshmallows Dark chocolate coloured icing pens For the chocolate Gruffalo frosting we beat the butter until soft, then added the icing sugar, cocoa powder & vanilla extract & beat until fluffy. If the mixture is too stiff, add a little of the milk. We spread the frosting onto the cupcakes, & used a fork to create a rough looking texture. To make the Gruffalo's eyes we used a couple of orange coloured Jelly Tots & added a little chocolate icing to the centre using the icing pens. For the nose we cut a green Jelly Tot in half, & drew a smile on the cake using an icing pen. The Gruffalo's ears were made from a chocolate button cut in half. To make the Gruffalo's horns we cut a mini marshmallow in half (diagonally) & added to the top of the cake. We cut more marshmallows in half to create small teeth, & cut another diagonally (as we did for the horns) to create the two larger teeth. Oh Help! Oh No! It's a cupcake Gruffalo!! Here's Minnie's Gruffalo cake! Think she was rather taken by the sweets!! We made these for a play date last week & took along one of our favourite books to share too! Doesn't that Gruffalo look good enough to eat!! The Gruffalo cupcakes were a big hit! After we'd enjoyed our Gruffalo treats we snuggled down on the sofa to read a copy of 'The Gruffalo' together... closely followed by a copy of 'The Gruffalo's Child.' Perfect! Think we'll be making Gruffalo Cupcakes again to celebrate World Book Day!
