• Welcome! I threw this ceramic pot on my wheel. They are very popular as special gifts and look great in contemporary interiors. • The height of the pot is 9cm or 3.6 inches. • The width is 11.5cm or 4.6 inches (at its widest • Prior to firing, I burnished the vessel with a piece of smooth glass to make the clay surface shiny. This is in preparation for the smoke-firing process, more about that later... • I then partially glazed it. Next I fired it, then when it had cooled I added gold lustre to the glaze and fired it again. Now it is ready for the smoke firing! • This was done outside. The pot was covered with a special sawdust and this was set a light to burn around the pot during the night. The burnished surface which I mentioned before reacted to the smoke and beautiful carbonised markings appeared on the pot inside and out. • Lastly it was washed and cleaned and then polished with beeswax for protection. • I love the smoke fired effect with the already applied gold lustre. It has a really ethereal quality and every piece is totally unique. I sell my work to Galleries in the UK and also attend exhibitions.
