Should a course be unable to go ahead because of Covid-19 governement restrictions you will be offered the choice of transferring your paid fees to an alternative course or a refund of your paid fees. 2. Should you be unable to attend a course due to you, or someone in your household, having Covid19 please send dated proof of the positive Covid test to receive a refund of paid fees. Without dated proof the regular Terms & Conditions apply (see below). Terms & Conditions The full course fee is required to confirm a place on a course. The course fee comprises 30% deposit and 70% balance. The 30% deposit paid on all courses is non-returnable on cancellation at any point, under any circumstance. However if you decide to book an alternative course, within a year of cancellation, the 30% deposit can be transferred across. Should you then cancel the course, that uses the transferred deposit, the 30% deposit is retained. The 70% balance paid on all courses is returnable only if cancellation is 17 days or more before the course start date. The 70% balance paid is non-returnable, under any circumstances, if cancellation is within 16 days of the course start date. It may be worth your while to take out an insurance against such last minute cancellations. We reserve the right to cancel or change the duration of any course – in this instance course fees paid will be refunded in full or, if preferred, transferred to a future course with availability. …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Course information All courses and classes are suitable for all abilities – whether jewellery is a new interest, you’re looking to learn a new technique or wanting to brush up on an old one. The maximum number of students on any course is 5, this ensures I can always give everyone individually tailored tuition. For beginners we may start with basic silver-smithing techniques like measuring, piercing, soldering, filing and polishing. For more advanced students techniques such as stone setting, surface finishes, etching, enamelling techniques, reticulation and lathe work can be pursued at a pace to suit the student. “Having attended a number of Jinks’ courses I am totally addicted. She is so patient, knowledgeable and encouraging. You learn all sorts of techniques without really realising and I have never heard her say anything is too difficult to do. It doesn’t matter what level you are you will always come away with something you are really pleased with. She makes it all so very enjoyable, I look forward to the courses so much. I have made things that I never thought I would be able to do. Because of the small number of students on the courses you get plenty of time to ask questions and get to really understand how to do things. The setting is fabulous and on top of that she serves up the most delicious lunches in her fairy tale barn.” LP The workshop is fully equipped with most tools and machinery imaginable. You are welcome to bring your own tools if you want but this is not necessary! If required Jinks can supply for your course, at cost, silver and some semi-precious stones… all you really need to bring is an apron and an idea of what you’d like to make or learn! Once a year Jinks runs a 3-day specialist casting-only course. This course includes learning to carve different waxes to apply the lost-wax casting technique, casting metal into a cuttlefish and casting into sand. As all these processes make the workshop hot and dusty this course is exclusively for those interested in casting. “I’ve returned to Jinks jewellery workshop courses many times over the last 15 years. She limits the courses to 5 students (so book early as they fill up fast) which means you get a lot of direct teaching support. Jinks is not only a highly skilled jeweller but she also is very experienced at teaching. She sets the perfect balance between expertly guiding you in how to do something at the same time as ensuring that she doesn’t take over and you learn how to do it. Her studio is in a truly idyllic setting and you get access to all the tools and materials you need. She also throws in a delicious light lunch each day.
