Kustomrama - Jim Kierstead's 1939 Mercury is rumored to be the first 1939-1940 Mercury coupe that Sam Barris chopped the top on. The job was started in 1945. Unfortunately the car was wrecked only days after it was completed, back in 1947, and Jim was killed in the tragic accident. Kustomrama contributor Olav Kvipt has taken on the task off recreating the lost kustom, and this week he started working on the roof of his car. After carefully measuring and studying the photos we have of Jim's Mercury, he took 5 inches out of the a-pillars and 6 inches out of the c-pillars. What do you think? Did he nail the overall look of the roof? More info and photos of the Kierstead Merc can be found here: http://kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Jim_Kierstead%27s_1939_Mercury
