Three different projects to discuss how God wants our hearts to be. These can be used with any appropriate lesson. The accordion pull is a super easy craft to create! There are easy to follow directions and color and black & white options included and the option to print with or without graphics so students can draw or write their thoughts. The slider should be printed on cardstock to work best. Cut the background on dotted lines to separate from the strip and use a craft knife to make slits on the dotted lines on the background. Cut out the rectangles as one long strip leaving all tabs attached. Insert from the bottom, across the top, back down through the other slit so each section can slide through with the PULL TAB on each end and be seen. The booklet is made with folded hearts glued together front to back. This is easy to put together, especially if the students are cutting the hearts out! This can also be made if you have a die cut machine to cut out 7 hearts, folded and glued back-to-back. The students can write the words as you discuss Ephesians 3:12 & 14. This can also be stapled on the side instead of glued. Click here to download the printables.
This free printable can be used in your church, home, or school to help kids learn this important Bible verse. Easy to download and print.

This is the display I used for this lesson. It is the same set for the Resurrection of Jesus. I wrapped up one of the guys with gauze to be Lazarus, used Jesus and the two women. You can see it here. This lesson is about Lazarus and is found in John 11:1-45 and John 12:17-18. He had two sisters named Mary and Martha. They lived in Bethany. Mary and Martha sent for Jesus because Lazarus was sick. The message stated, “the one you love is sick.” Jesus loved Mary, Martha and Lazarus. But when Jesus heard about Lazarus being sick, He stayed two more days where He was. Lazarus died during that time, and he was buried before Jesus could visit him. Jesus told His Disciples that they were going to Judea. They asked Him “Are you sure? The Jews have been wanting to stone you.” Jesus told them it would be all right, He needed to go see their friend Lazarus. Lazarus is sleeping, and I will wake him up. They told Jesus that if Lazarus is sleeping, then he would get better. But Jesus told them that Lazarus was dead. Jesus told them that He was glad they weren’t there so they would believe what they see. And then He told the Disciples "Now, let’s go to him." When Jesus arrived at Bethany, Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. Bethany was two miles away from Jerusalem. And many of those people had come to be with Martha and Mary to comfort them. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet Him. Mary stayed at the house. Martha told Jesus that if He would have been there, Lazarus wouldn’t have died. But she said, I know that whatever you ask God, He will give You. Jesus told her that her brother would live again. Jesus asked her if she believed that whoever believed in Him would live even though they died. Martha replied that she believed in Him. “I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who came into the world.” After she answered Jesus, Martha secretly went to find her sister Mary and told her that Jesus had come and was looking for her. Immediately, Mary went to Jesus. Jesus wasn’t in town yet; He was waiting for her where He had met Martha. The people who were with her, comforting her, thought she was going to the grave to cry about Lazarus. When Mary came to Jesus, she fell at His feet and told Him that Lazarus wouldn’t have died if He’d been there. When Jesus saw her crying, he felt sorry for her, and He was upset that she was so sad. Jesus asked her where Lazarus was laid at and the people said “Lord, come and see.” vs. Jesus wept. (The shortest verse of the Bible, but very important.) Jesus was upset, even though He knew He would raise him from the dead. It still upset Him. The people said, “See how much He loved Lazarus!” Some of them said if Jesus healed the blind, couldn’t He have kept Lazarus from dying? When they came to the tomb, it was a cave cut into the rock with a stone in front of it. This tells us that Mary, Martha and Lazarus had more money than the average family. This is the family burial place and only the rich could pay to have it cut out of the rock. Jesus was so upset when He came to the tomb. He said, “Take away the stone.” Martha said there is going to be a bad smell since Lazarus has been dead for four days! Jesus told her that she would believe after this. They took the stone away from the tomb and Jesus lifted up His eyes and said “I am thankful that You have heard Me. I know that You always hear Me. Because of these people standing here, I am saying this so that they may believe that You sent Me.” After that, Jesus said really loud “Lazarus, come forth.” Lazarus, who had been dead, came out with the wrappings around his hands and feet and face. Jesus said to unwrap him and the people that were there with Mary and Martha saw what Jesus had done and they believed in Him. The project is a cut and glue of Lazarus coming out of the tomb. I cut the rock, used my craft knife to make the slit for the rock tab and glued the rock cover before class. The students can lift the rock flap and will cut & glue Lazarus. It is available in color and black & white. You can download it here. For this lesson, I purchased gauze and let them wrap it around cheap plastic people I have found. Or, I have used pretzels and string cheese and let them wrap the string cheese around the pretzel. Click here to print the worksheet. We continue the Miracles lapbook today. The students will leave them in class until we finish the miracles lessons, then they take them home. Click on the lapbook to see it. I decided to limit this lapbook to the miracles that Jesus did to prove Himself. We will study Malchus, Resurrection of Jesus and Jesus Returns to Heaven, etc., but I did not include these. Simple games to play when teaching about Jesus calling Matthew (also called Levi). Based on the passage in Matthew 9.
You can feel free to use the coloring pages for your own PERSONAL use. But please be kind and do not claim these pictures as your own or offer them for downloads. It makes me sad to see my pictures on a coloring page website run by someone else. I've been having the most fun over the past week designing and editing some new coloring pages to share with you all. I was shopping and came across the cutest little stickers with inspirational phrases on them. I knew I had to make some coloring sheets based on those stickers I saw. They were too cute to pass up, and I knew they would be easy to make. As always, if you click on the photo you should be able to save a larger file size. Be inspired while you color! Enjoy!
Well now, let's get into some ideas for the first lesson on the plan for this year based on Luke 2:41-52. These are the only verses in the Bible that give us a glimpse into Jesus' childhood. One aspect of this account that is crystal clear is Jesus' love for the Word of God at a young age. We also see that Jesus had to learn and grow just like every other human being. Children can identify with the humanity of Jesus, who was a child, like them. Jesus embraced, and loved God's Word as a child, and we want to cultivate the same love in the hearts of the children we teach. Bible Truth: Jesus teaches me to love God's Word. Bible Story: Mary and Joseph found Jesus in the temple talking with the teachers about God's Word. Bible Study: Luke 2:41-52; Psalm 119:9-16 teach I begin teaching a Bible story, holding my Bible open, and telling the children that what we are learning today is in the Bible. I say, "God put this story in the Bible because He wanted us to know about it, and He wants to teach us something." I also have a set of pocket New Testament Bibles that I found at the dollar store years ago, and when I teach the lesson in small groups, I give each child a Bible to hold as I'm teaching. This reinforces the concept that I am teaching God's words and not my words. I am telling them a true story that really happened, not a fantasy or fairy tale. As they hold their Bibles, I also teach them to care for their Bible by not ripping pages, putting it in their mouth, etc. The Bible is a special book. It is God's Word. We love our Bibles. Then I will open whichever Children's Bible I am using for the lesson, and say, "This Bible has pictures in it for you to see. Let's read the story that God wants us to learn today." You will find a list of the Children's Bibles that I currently use and recommend on my resources page if you are looking for one. showUse an assortment of tools, either toys or real tools, to help explain that Jesus learned from His father Joseph how to be a carpenter and build things out of wood. Another visual aid for this lesson is to create a scroll by rolling up a long sheet of paper. If you have time, add dowels to the ends to make it look more authentic. Explain that the Bible Jesus read looked different than our Bible, but it had the same words from God in it. sing Here are some songs to sing that go well with this lesson. Below there are links to both the lyrics and a video in case these are new songs to you. The B-I-B-L-E Read Your Bible and Pray Everyday (see lesson video for tune and actions) God Made Me (In My Bible Book) craft I have three different craft ideas for this lesson to share with you. Two are very simple, requiring minimal materials, and the third involves more materials and preparation, but I think it's really cute! scroll coloring The first idea is to turn a coloring sheet of young Jesus in the temple into a scroll. All you need for this craft is: this coloring page, which I modified (I found the coloring sheet on Pinterest but I was unable to trace it back to it's original source.) two jumbo craft sticks for each child glue crayons yarn or string Trim off the wide margin of the coloring page. Glue one craft stick on the top, the other on the bottom, color, roll, and tie with string or yarn. Very simple, but I promise you the children will love their "scrolls." find jesus in the temple The second idea was inspired by this blog. It requires some pre-cutting prep. You will need: this picture of a temple (print page 1 in black & white, and choose landscape from properties / page setup) this heading this cropped picture of Jesus scissors construction paper glue crayons Cut the doorway of the temple as shown below. For each child, cut the heading into a strip, and cut out the picture of Jesus. In class, help the children glue their temple to a sheet of construction paper, leaving the cut doorway clear of glue. Fold the doors back and glue Jesus inside the temple. Add the heading to the paper, color and wa-la! Children can actively retell the story as they open and close the temple doors. i spy jesus bottle *This craft involves small objects that may be a choking hazard, and a hot glue gun. Be sure that children are monitored at all times. For this craft you will need: an empty, dry, clean water bottle for each child a funnel (A paper made one will work just as well.) enough rice to fill each water bottle about 3/4 full these miniature pictures of Jesus that I cropped and minimized tape a variety of small objects such as foamie shapes, beads, buttons, pom-poms, sequins, jewels, etc. (Use whatever you have on hand and whatever you can find at the dollar store.) a hot glue this label Cut out the picture of Jesus in pairs as demonstrated by the red box. Fold each picture in half and tape it to make it a double-sided picture. Use a funnel to pour the rice into the water bottles. Allow the children to choose objects, and put them into their bottle. Just be sure every child has a picture of Jesus. Use a hot glue gun to glue the cap to the bottle. Tape the label to the bottle. Shake and mix up the contents of the bottle. Can you find Jesus? Comment below to let me know if you use any of these ideas, and how they work out for you! P.S. I believe that at this time in Jesus' life He began to understand who He was, and His purpose. He had to make the conscious decision to submit himself to Joseph and Mary's authority (verse 51). Isn't that an incredible thought?!
Use this children's sermon to help kids learn to let their light shine for Jesus. You can use "Let Your Light Shine" in Sunday school, children's church or at home. This children's sermon is based on Matthew 5:14-16.
