For my son's first birthday we had a Very Hungry Caterpillar Party. (So fun!) Below are some of the simple, inexpensive party decorations that I made for this party, however, you can also use them for other themed (or non-themed) parties too. Just choose your own colours! DIY POP-HOLDER A "pop holder" is really easy to make and is a cute way to display your lolly pops, cake pops and anything else you can think of on a stick :) Here is how we made ours: Materials: Foam block (note: I used flower foam this time as I already had it at home and they were wrapped sweets and no food was touching it.. but to make another, I'd use a normal foam block as you wouldn't want any of the flower foam touching any food), Glue, Bento grass dividers (you can buy them online, eg. ebay or shops selling Bento supplies eg. Daiso, very inexpensively) Starting at the top, put a layer of grass dividers around your foam block. Once you have gone all the way around, start a new layer, slightly lower down so that it overlaps the top layer and so on until it is covered. On top I stuck down some more of the grass dividers, leaving gaps for the pop sticks to push easily into Poke in your pops and you're ready to go. Paper Lantern Table Display/Paper Lantern Caterpillar Materials: Paper lanterns (can be bought cheaply on ebay or at many discount variety shops), Fishing line, Self adhesive Hooks (I used Command Clear Decorating Clips). This was such a simple yet effective way to frame our cake and you could do the same for any other party using different coloured lanterns (without the eyes, etc.). We popped some stick-on wall hooks on the ceiling. Tied fishing line to the paper lanterns and then hung them on the hooks at the desired lengths. The total cost of the lantern caterpillar was $12. (I already had the other stuff at home so only had to purchase the lanterns) Twisted Streamer Wall Behind our table we used a simple streamer wall in the party colours. Materials: Streamers, sticky tape or blu-tac. Cut all your streamers to the right length. Stick the streamer at the top, twist and then stick at the bottom. Repeat! :) These would look fabulous in all kinds of colours and only cost about $4 in total. Balloon Door-frame/ Balloon Caterpillar Want something even more basic? Try trimming your door frames with balloons stuck around them. We made a quick little caterpillar but you could use any colours you like. These are just stuck to the wall with masking-tape. ¿Os imagináis trasladaros a una antigua estación de ferrocarril para celebrar una fiesta de cumpleaños? ¿Un tren en el que cada vagón está lleno de diferentes dulces? Os lo contamos con todo lujo de detalles. La mamá de Aidan quería que los trenes estuvieran presentes en su fiesta, porque siempre ha mostrado su interés por este medio de transporte y su habitación está llena de trenes, vías, maquetas y locomotoras. No quería hacer algo comercial así que decidió ambientar el cumpleaños en una estación antigua y llamada Aidansville. ¡Lo hizo todo ella! Durante dos meses, y este fue el resultado. Os damos las claves para hacer algo parecido ya que es muy difícil de igualar. Increíble cada uno de los detalles. La mesa buffet estaba formada por un tren handmade de 4,5 metros de longitud!!! La madre del anfitrión, Belinda, pintó los vagones (cajas de madera) en azul y rojo y le pegó a cada una dos ruedas de cartón. Cada vagón estaba dedicado a una comida diferente: piruletas, palomitas, chocolates, cupcakes, nubes, etc. Más detalles de la mesa. ¡Para alucinar! - En ninguna estación puede faltar un gran reloj para que los trenes salgan a su hora. En este caso a las 3, edad que cumplía Aidan - Compra de billetes y recogida de equipaje: Belinda eligió dos fotos de Aidan y le añadió pegatinas de billetes y maletas para cada una de las dos ventanas. - Varias maletas vintage pintadas en los mismos colores de la fiesta para decorar en una de las esquinas. - Una preciosa tarta de nuevo en los dos colores formada por una locomotora y dos vagones - El fondo de la estación fue pintado por la mamá de Aidan y lo acompañó de un mantel de yute para dar un toque más rústico. A la entrada de la fiesta, todos los invitados fueron uno a uno recibidos por Aidan, quien iba vestido de vendedor de billetes de tren. En el jardín también les esperaba un gran tren que daba vueltas por cada rincón y al que los niños se subieron una y otra vez. Los railes de la vía también se dejaban ver en el jardín, algo muy sencillo que Belinda logró con cinta adhesiva negra pegada en el suelo de piedra. Los niños lo pasaron en grande y como veis fue una fiesta maravillosa en la que todo fue handmade, lo que le da valor a cualquier decoración. It all came together without much stress thank goodness. We have a HUGE family, huge. So we opted to have it at a park pavilion. It was really nice and if you are in the MD area I suggest Quiet Waters park in Annapolis. So here are her decorations. Little Yellow Bicycle generously sent me what they had left of the Splash (my favorite!!) collection so I could make them. The cake was the show stopper by far. It was ADORABLE and tasted great. Parker tore.it.up. She wanted to make sure we had some too. Pre-cake we took some family photos. Below is My husband, Myself, Parker and her sister Victoria. This is Victoria's Mom, Bill, Myself, Parker, Victoria and her boyfriend Josh. Someone is sure to email me and ask, her dress is from Gymboree. Her shoes are Hoy Saltwater Sandals. She was set to have a meltdown after the cake so we hurried to try and get the presents done without her passing out. My niece took the photos and the Unicorn rocker was by far her favorite toy. She's a very blessed and loved little girl. She had a great day and crashed the heck out after. :)
