I love hexagons, but I'm not much for hand piecing. I sew mine by machine. I've always done it like Liz shows in her video. I was sitting marking the 1/4" points of a few hundred hexagons one night and at the same time I was talking with my friend Elaine. She told me that I didn't need to do all that marking, that there is a way to sew hexes by machine without it. I said, tell me more! She did and I went directly to the machine to give it a try. Low and behold it works. It took a bit of practice, but it works. No more marking!! I've got about 50 sewn so far...hundreds left to go. I'm going to try to sew a couple of rows each day. I'll try to put something together to show how this works. It's kinda changed my hexing life! One more side to hand stitch on the binding of the bridges quilt. I changed my mind on the color of the binding...so I'm running a bit behind. I have to sew on the hanging sleeve too. Reveal on Monday for sure!

TIME FOR A DISNEY PRINCESS PARTY!!! I've edited the invitation and some of the pictures slightly so that there aren't any personal details here. I designed this invitation on my own using a graphic I found during a google search. I also downloaded a Disney font. Then I had them printed on nice, thick photo paper. The invitations were very simply and classy. I set up the party so that each "area' would represent a different Disney Princess. I didn't have all the princesses represented though. The food table was the largest and the princess theme was Belle (Be Our Guest): (Of course, I had toys from when I was little) Instead of labeling each food item on the table tents, I put lyrics from the Beauty and the Beast song, 'Be Our Guest'. I made the table tents by (again) editing a picture I found in a Google search. Here's a closeup of one of them. Here are the rest of my pictures from the food table, and beneath them I'll post the food that was served and where you can find directions for those (FYI: Pinterest) Food: Turkey/Cranberry Paninis Veggie Cups: carrots & celery in ranch dip Caprese Skewers: That turned out slightly different than the original picture. (these are just a cherry tomato, a bit of mozzerella, & a basil leaf with balsalmic vinegarette dressing sprinkled on) Crackers w/Cheese & Pepperoni Jello Cups with Strawberry Cool Whip: Mine turned out a little different. I forgot to save some jello to mix into the Cool Whip, so I pureed some strawberries and mixed it in. Mini Cakes with a strawberry on top Mini No Bake Cheesecakes There was also a crock-pot of barbeque meatballs which somehow didn't make it into the picture. The drink table was themed with Ariel from The Little Mermaid: I made blue punch to be like the ocean and put Sebastian up there. The goblets are just sparkling cider with fruit dropped in (strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries). I also placed mini bubble wands because well... "We got no troubles Life is the bubbles Under the sea" Here is the Snow White area with the Wishing Well we made! Click HERE for the post on that. There was a sign asking guests to write "well-wishes and advice for the bride" Cinderella was the star of the favors table. The favors we handed out were mini glass slippers with a Disney Princess lip balm in it. They turned out super cute. I stuck each one onto a little card reading "Thanks For Coming!" I bought the lip balm from Ulta, and I bought the mini glass slippers from Shindigz.com ($11.99 for 24 of them) I made and printed a Disney Love Song Match-up game. Click on the image below and you can save and use it for your own party!

This SATC-themed bachelorette party from Meaghan is fab! The hostesses didn't leave anything out. Have you been browsing online and shopping in store for a freestanding bathtub? If so, then chances are you might be feeling a little overwhelmed with what to choose. We’ve put together this guide to help you make this process a lot easier, so you can enjoy your new freestanding bathtub. In need of bathtub inspo? We got you covered, head over to our Pinterest! 1-Size In this case, size does matter and should be the first thing you consider. Typically most remodels are replacing a 60” tub, if you are remodeling an already existing bathroom, replacing the existing tub and switching over to a freestanding tub, you might be limited to a 59” freestanding tub. These freestanding bathtubs are available in a variety of sizes with the most common sizes being 59”, 63”, 65”, 67”, 71”. As mentioned above the size of the available space where you will be placing your new freestanding tub at is the first thing you need to determine. If space and budget allow and you have plenty of room go for the larger of the sizes to make a grand impression. 2-Function Free Standing bathtubs offer two functions and can work as a soaking tub or a spa soaking style tub. A freestanding spa tub is either a whirlpool tub or air jetted tub. In the whirlpool style, tub water is recycled through the pump giving you that relaxing massage feeling you need after a long day. Compared to the air jetted tub, air is pumped through the various holes in the tub thus giving you the similar sensation as if you were receiving a gentle open-handed massage. 3-Material Freestanding bathtubs can be found in a variety of materials. Below is a quick cheat sheet for the various materials available so that you can make the best educated decision on which bathtub is right for you. Acrylic This is the most common material used on freestanding tubs, they also tend to be the least expensive type. With it being lightweight, it makes the job of carrying up floors or going through small doors much easier. Solid-Surface Made of a mixture of minerals and other resins to produce a Solid surface is made of a mixture of minerals and other resin to produce a well built, smooth, nonporous material. Thus the finish of the material tends to be a silky smooth one, which is why you typically see this specific style used in luxury homes and hotels. The most hygienic of the bunch since they are naturally resistant to mold, stains or mildew. Stone Stone tubs are hand carved from natural marble, Granite, travertine or other stones. They tend to be very heavy and you might need to reinforce your floor. They tend to be a very unique look. Cast Iron Cast iron tubs are also very heavy. You might need to reinforce your floor. They are coated with porcelain enamel. Most manufacturers have switched to acrylic tubs instead because you get the same look and but are a fraction of the weight of a traditional cast iron tub. Copper Copper tubs are usually a more expensive choice. They have an ability to conduct heat which allows the water to maintain a steady temperature. Copper also is resistant to mold and bacteria. 4 - Style This is a matter of your own personal taste and what you envision your bathroom to look like. Round, square, clawfoot etc, these are just a few of the styles available. With the most common being an oval freestanding tub. 5 - Cost With all things, it comes down to price. Freestanding bathtubs can start as low as a few hundred dollars and can go go up to a few thousand. If the budget is tight, your best bang for buck and option would be a tub made of acrylic. If budget is the least of your worries, find something you will enjoy and love.

& in this edition of Throwback Thursday, I'll post on an actual Thursday... unlike last week, which was posted on Friday because well, I'm on maternity leave and all days run together. I was so blessed to have been given 3 showers for Baby G. We are so loved and spoiled by our friends and family! My first shower was thrown by my mother-in-law's friends. Since my sister-in-law and I were due just days apart they threw us a joint shower! It was so fun to share this special time with Jojo! All of the Mamas My next shower was thrown by some of my nearest and dearest friends. Hostesses: Jordan, Jacqueline, Diana, (myself), Amber and Chara - not pictured Kate The theme was so precious - Camp Dunaway. Every detail was to die for! Feel free to hop over to Amber's blog for all of the details here And the final shower was given to me by my amazing coworkers. We spend quite a bit of time together, so coworkers doesnt really cover it - its more like friends/sisters Funny story about the pics for this shower we took a million, to then realize at the end of the shower that I hadnt put my memory card back into my camera. I've been thinking of fun, alternative caketoppers and when I saw this, I thought it'd be the perfect thing to turn bridal. They're so quick and easy to make that you could even make a bunch of them and clip them to brown paper bags as favors for your guests. I found an oversized clothespin at the dollar store, which adds a little more drama to the cake than everyday laundry clothespins.
I’ve never been on a cruise, but I’ve seen plenty of pictures of those cute animals cruise ship teams make out of towels, and I’ve always thought they’re pretty freaking…
