Every year my husband and I make goals for things we want to accomplish. Last year one of my goals was to finally finish both of my son’s bedrooms. I had a vision in mind but just hadn’t completed them....
For my son's 3rd birthday, I wanted to give him a "big boy room". He was ready to transition out of his crib and we had a queen mattress waiting for him in the basement. The vision: NEUTRAL DINO! I was searching Pinterest for months, pulling pieces from all over to create my vision board. I wanted something that he could grow into as he gets older so stuck with pieces of furniture (bed, dresser, light) that he could have for years and then little accents he could change out as his interests change (comforter, prints, etc). First up my mood board! I had created a hale navy accent wall in his room when he was a baby so had to base everything off of that. I also wanted to use as much as I could that I already had: dresser, bookshelf, table, and chairs. What do you think?! I think it nailed it!! The outcome!!! Will share details & links below! I just love how it came out so much- and so does he! Bed: AMAZING!!! It is under $350 for a queen size and it is a HYDRAULIC storage bed! It lifts up with hydraulics so you can store things under the bed. I have the greige color, which is more of a linen talc color, which I was going for. The quality is just like the more expensive one we have in our room, such a great find. Tip: I paid $70 through Wayfair to have it installed through Angi, and it was worth every penny. I schedule the install date/time when it was convenient for me and the guy came out and installed it in 2.5 hours. Link for bed here Bedding: Loved this neutral watercolor dino print! I paired it with this chunky blanket from target in the color brown ($60). You'll see little bumpers ($39) on the side of this bed that I added to protect him from falling off- they have grippers on the top & bottom and are secured underneath the fitted sheet. Rug: This was deff a shot in the dark because I couldn't find a review on it anywhere but the colors looked like they would be perfect. It really is the perfect rug for a boy. I loved it so much I ordered a 2nd one for my husband's office. The colors are navy, charcoal, beige, mustard yellow, light grey. rug link. This summer we completed a series of projects for our good friends who just closed on their first home. Zayn’s bedroom makeover was extra special because the little man himself helped make it happen!
Playful patterns for a playful kiddo! One of my favorite memories growing up is when my parents would redo my bedroom and they'd let me choose whatever theme I wanted. So this time around we involved our little guy with a few choices for his big boy bedroom and I have to say- it was fun getting a little input from a 3 year old. I think we got everything on his list: trucks ✔️ blue ✔️ red ✔️ (what an easy client!😆) Our 3 year old is very much a bright, colorful, & playful kind of kid, so I wanted his bedroom to reflect that. Some days he prefers pink (he knows it's mom's favorite color) & other days he prefers orange (thanks to Blippi) but usually you can catch him saying blue & red are his favorite colors, so we decided to do blue board+batten on an accent wall, along with accents of red here & there. We used this fun Serena + Lily Feathered wallpaper as a backsplash on the accent wall, with some white framed Etsy truck prints to pop against the wallpaper. The Polymath Mom name sign fits perfectly in the room and will grow with him over time. My goal was for the room to reflect his personality and involve all things he loves so that he truly enjoys being in his own little space. The room has a fun feeling with details of trucks everywhere, along with a book bench reading corner to accommodate his love for reading. My advice is to involve your child during the design process if you can! Make a space that they'll love and will accommodate their wants. Happy designing! Paint Color: SW Revel Blue & SW Pure White
