I have a new Minute To Win It game. It's a New Testament version. Just click on the picture to check it out. In Seminary this year we are studying the Old Testament. For our Christmas party I thought that it would be fun to have a review of the year so far with Minute to Win it games. Here is what I came up with. I gave each team 5 apples and had them do their best to stack them. The team who had the most apples stacked at one minute won. You could also have a person from each team eat an apple and the person who eats most of the apple wins. For this one you will need 2 jars and a bunch of plastic animals. I taped a picture of Noah's Ark to the outside. Each person puts the jar by their feet. While standing straight each person tries to drop an animal into the jar from their nose. The teams that has the most animals is the jar at one minute wins. Each team is given a stack of cups. The team who has the tallest tower at one minute wins. For this one you will need 2 empty tissue boxes, 2 belts and 16 ping pong balls. Put slits on the two sides of the tissue box to slip the belt through. Fill each tissue box with 8 ping pong balls. Each person playing ties the belt around his waist with the box in the back. They both have one minute to dance around until all of the ping pong balls (seeds) have been bounced out of the tissue box. For this you will need 2 straws, 40 marshmallows, and two plates. Each person will have one minutes to get 20 marshmallows (sheep) into the plate (the pen) with the straw. For this challenge you will need 10 3"x 14" pieces of poster board and about 40 cups. Give each player 5 pieces of poster board and a stack of cups. Each player builds a ladder with the poster board for rungs. The team with the tallest ladder wins. Each team gets a copy of Joseph's coat to color. They have one minute to color it on their head. Each player must use at least five colors. The team is allowed to give advice on how to color in the lines. The team that does the best job wins. This one I did not end up doing. Here's how it could be done. You will need 20 old Bibles. Each team will have one member help another team member stack 5 Bibles in each hand. Then they will have to walk across the room with all 10 Bibles without dropping them. The team that gets all 10 Bibles across the room first wins. This challenge is in reference to Deuteronomy 33:17. Give each team a bag of Honeycomb cereal. Each team will have one member lie down on the ground while another team member stacks the honeycomb cereal, one on top of the other, to look like a unicorn horn. The team that has the tallest horn wins (without cheating). For this challenge you will need to print out two pictures of the brick wall below onto cardstock. Fold the cardstock in half like a card. Place the cards at one end of the table. Both teams have a member blow the card across the table and then try to get the card to hang off the edge without falling off. If the card falls off then they have to start all over. Bounce a ping pong ball at least twice to knock over Goliath. The first person to do it in under a minute wins. Here's a printout for you to use. For the Champions I made these trophies out of Toblerone. Just print out the picture below. Cut it out and glue it to the top of a Toblerone. The students loved it. This is all the further we have studied this year. If we come up with more games I will be sure to post them on here. Good Luck! Check out my other New Testament Minute to Win it game. Here's another fun game to play with scriptures. I also have Grinch Minute to Win it Games And Alice in Wonderland Minute to Win it Games And Frozen themed Minute to Win it Ideas

Real talk: classroom management has always been my biggest struggle as a teacher. I think that this is true for a lot of teachers. It’s one thing to read about classroom management strategies in a college classroom, but it’s a whole other ballgame when you’re standing in front of a roomful of middle schoolers and you are somehow expected to keep them all in line! I’ve had a few tough groups over my first few years, and I needed something to up my classroom management game. The classroom management strategy I’m going to share with you today has been a total game-changer for me, and I hope it can help you, too! This strategy is called Behavior Bingo. To implement it, you will need a 10×10 chart numbered from 1-100. I used to draw mine out on big chart paper, but I’ve since created this handy printable board so that I don’t have to draw it out each time! You will also need 100 popsicle sticks each labeled with a number from 1-100. I keep these in one of those metal pails from Target, and you will also need another pail for the sticks to go in once you have pulled them. You will need a board and set of numbers for each class you are using this with – I have used it with up to 4 classes at once! I marked each class’s set of sticks with a different color and then discarded them all into the same tub. If you don’t want to buy or have to label all the popsicle sticks, I have also seen teachers use small slips of paper numbered 1-100, or even just a random number generator online! Here are the rules that I use: The object of the game is to get 10 numbers in a row (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal) and get a bingo. At the start of each class, I write the numbers 1 2 3 on the front whiteboard. During class, I erase a number any time the students are not meeting my expectations, starting with 3, then 2, then 1. At the end of class, however many numbers are left on the board is how many popsicle sticks they get to pull that day. For example, if only the 3 was erased, then they get to pull 2 popsicle sticks. They can earn up to 3 numbers each day. The students pull out the correct number of sticks for that day. I let them take turns. I hold the jar up above their heads so they can’t peek inside. Then I color in the numbers that were pulled on the bingo board. You can certainly adjust these rules to meet your needs. For instance, you could use a smaller or bigger bingo board, depending on how quickly you want them to earn their reward. With the 10×10 board, it usually takes 1-2 months to earn the reward. You could also adjust how many numbers they can earn each day. Another thing you could do is tie the numbers to specific goals. For instance, my students know that at the beginning of class they need to be in their seats with homework out and working on their warmup. If this doesn’t happen, they know I will erase a number. As for the reward, we choose this as a class before beginning the game. I have the students brainstorm ideas (I tell them that they need to be something either relatively inexpensive or free and can only take up about 20-30 minutes of class time) and list them all on the board. Then I have the students vote for their top two choices. Some ideas we have come up with in the past include an ice cream party (I bring the ice cream, they bring the toppings), root beer float party, time outside, free time, board games, donut party, dodgeball, or popcorn and a short movie. I write their choice at the bottom of the bingo board as a reminder of what we are working toward. And that’s it! It’s very easy to keep it running, and it has been very motivating to my students, especially when they are down to only one number left for the day. You can find the printable board that I use in my Teachers Pay Teachers store if you’re interested! Do you have any awesome classroom management strategies? I would love to hear about them in the comments!

For our Seminary Christmas Party this year we played a God's Army minute to win it Challenge. The students loved it. Here is an explanation of the games that we played. If you would like a list of the games it is located at the bottom of this post. Keeping Score Every challenge needs a scoreboard. Here is one that you can save into your pictures and print out, or you can copy and paste it into your printing program. It's fun to have team names that come out of the Bible. You can make them up, or have each team make up their name. Every Army needs to complete basic training. So for this challenge you could have every team member complete Basic Training by doing 5 jumping jacks, 5 pushups 5 sit ups, 5 burpees. The first team that has every team member finish wins. If you are worried about some of the kids not being able to do this challenge you can modify the exercises, or have one kid represent the entire team. Do it however it works for your kids. If you have room you could design an obstacle course that the kids need to complete. For this challenge give each team a roll of aluminum foil. They have to make the full armor of God on one of the teammates. Each team should create: The boots of peace/readiness The breastplate of righteousness The helmet of Salvation The belt of truth I did not require the sword and the shield. They will use those in other challenges. The first team to complete the challenge wins. In this challenge I gave each team a cloth bandage, three bandaids and a beach towel. They had to pick a wounded teammate and wrap up their head with the cloth bandage, apply the three bandaids, then carry the wounded soldiers carefully across the room on the beach towel. The first team done wins. I gave each team a big bag of bubble gum. The players could chew as many pieces and they wanted. The first team to blow the biggest bubble wins. What was fun with this challenge was that some of the players took like 12 pieces of gum. Then they found that they couldn't chew them in time. The players who took less pieces actually had the advantage. For this game you will need a nerf gun and several plastic cups. Write various sins on the cups with a sharpie marker. Some of the ones that I came up with are: violence, drugs, laziness, too much social media, pornography, lying, cheating, bullying, etc. You will need to make two sets of cups, one for each team. Line the cups up in a row on two seperate tables. Have the players stand about 5 - 10 feet away, depending on their age. You can have one player shoot all the cups, or your can have each player shoot once then give the gun to the next player to shoot, and so on. You could either play until one team shoots all of the cups down, or the team with the most cups down in one minute wins. For this game you will need a bag of toy soldiers (from the dollar store) and a plastic bucket. For my plastic bucket I used a plastic cauldron that looks more like a Dutch oven than a cauldron. Perfect, right? I separated the toy soldiers by the color. I gave one team all the green toy soldiers and gave all the beige toy soldiers to the other team. For each team give one player the bucket and the rest of the players get one toy soldier a piece. They have to try to throw the soldier into the bucket. For younger kids you can just have them throw one at a time from several feet away. To make it harder I had the students throw it through their legs like the Center on a football team. The person holding the bucket can move around to catch the soldier. If they miss they cannot put the soldier in the bucket. The team that has the most toy soldiers in their bucket wins. Before the kids come hide 24 sheep around the room, 12 sheep for each team. Color code the sheep so that the teams can see the other teams sheep while they are searching. The team that finds all their sheep first wins. Here is a printout for the sheep. You can print it out on two different colors of paper, or you could just mark them in some way to make them different for each team. This game was actually a lot of fun even with older kids. I think that they liked finding the other teams sheep and not telling them where it was. Give each team member a piece of paper to fold into a paper airplane. Each team should have a different color of paper. Have them all fold their planes. They have to all stand on the same line to fly their planes. The team that has the plane that flies the farthest wins. Blindfold a person from each team. Have them both stand on one side of the room. When you say go have them walk to specific location on the other side of the room. The person has to find the spot by following the instructions of their team. Both teams are to give the instructions at the same time. In this game each team had to catch the "light of Christ". I gave each team a plastic dollar store sword and glow stick necklace for each team member. When I said go they had to make their necklace glow and form it into a circle. Then they had to toss it to the person holding the sword from 10 feet away. You could either have the team that caught the most in a minute win, or the team that got all of theirs on first win. Make a shield of faith for each team from a paper plate (or have them make it) Use duct tape on the back for a handle and write the word faith across the front. Each team picks a player to hold the shield of faith. The opposite team each gets a piece of paper to wad up and throw at the person holding the shield of faith. The team that can hit the most paper wads with their sheild wins. Have enough blown up balloons for each team member. Make each team's balloons in a different color. In 5 of the balloons put a letter that spells out the word T R U T H. Both teams should have their own set of balloons that spell out T R U T H. In the extra balloons put a blank paper. The kids need to pop the balloons by sitting on them. Then each team needs to figure out what the word is. The first team to spell out TRUTH wins. For this challenge you need a loaf of bread and a jar of jam for each team. I bought mine at the dollar store. Before we started I placed a plastic tablecloth down for easy clean up. Both teams are to "spread" the gospel to build God's kingdom. By doing so they had to use the sword of truth to spread the jam onto the bread. They were to create a tower with jam and bread. The tallest tower in one minute wins. I made trophies for the winning team. This year I used m&m minis . I glued silver cardstock around the m&m mini container. I printed the medallion on the same silver cardstock. I cut out the medallion and glued it to the top of the container with a glue gun. In the past I printed them out on gold paper and glued them to the top of a Toblerone. Here are the two different printouts for the medallion. God's Army Champion Armor of God Champion Here's a list of the games if you want to print it out. Here are links to other ideas that are on my Holly's Home Blog.
